Top notch service from the moment you pull in to the driveway until the moment you leave. You don’t experience service like this anymore. They let us check in at 8 am like it was no big deal. The bartender both nights was so friendly and engaging. The valet team was friendly. All of the spa employees went the extra mile. It’s clean and charming, with extra touches like heated bathroom floors. The food is amazing. Across the board you can feel that it’s a family owned company with a strong culture, not a large corporation. We loved the live music every night in the lounge and the oxygen bar in the spa. It was a lovely experience and we will be back.
The Sonnenalp is just what you conjure in your mind when thinking about Vail - our little slice of the Alps in Colorado. After enjoying its restaurants and spa for years, we finally stayed there and now we would never stay anywhere else! The rooms are varied and beautiful, the staff is wonderful and welcoming, and they have the best apres in Vail.
We are staying at the Sonnenalp Vail for a week for a hip replacement for my husband. We haven’t experienced a hotel with this kind of care and service in years. The hotel is immaculate and they can’t do enough to help make their guests happy.. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel -see for yourselves!
If you see my reviews you can tell I've stayed at some pretty fancy hotels! My partner loves to spend money on getting the very best. It's pretty hard to impress me with the "wow" factor anymore. Nevertheless, when we entered our "suite" at the Sonnenalp we had a real "wow" moment. The view out of our window to the indoor/outdoor pool which was still open for swimming (it is heated) in January, everything snow covered. It was pretty amazing. The heated floor in the bathroom was quite impressive. The fireplace that gave off lots of nice warmth. Finally, a note about the service, amazing. Our server at breakfast everyday was so nice! The turn down service in the evening. How many hotels even offer that any more? One weird thing is that you have to go outside to get to the one restaurant on the property.(The fondue restaurant.) It is sort of strange that the place is buile this way. But, the main restaurant is still "inside" the property. Anyway, I've been all over the world and the experience I've had is my own, but I have never stayed in a place as luxurious as this. I should add, it is far and away the most we ever spent, per night at a hotel. Oh, the breakfast is just fantastic. It is the best hotel breakfast you could imagine. Absolutely everything you could want. The omelette maker was great, so many lux, specialty breakfast items. We stayed in a "hotels of the world" or some such in Interlaken, Switzerland. . . this place is better, obviously. It's like a better than Europe hotel, in the USA. (It also felt like many of the guests were foreign.) OK I'm out, I hope you find this helpful! It's shocking to me that over 45,000 people have read my silly little reviews at this point! Let me know if you have any questions too. One more thing, they even had a relation with the ski rental place that was pretty easy to navigate. It is the closest ski place to "Lift-One" on the entire village. Yes, this must be the top place.…
This is a great place to stay for a ski trip. The ski concierge service at Gorsuch right by Gondola One is very convenient. The hotel is only a short, enjoyable walk to Gondola One and is surrounded by a multitude of great restaurants. The spa is also easily accessible and the facilities are first-class.
