We have stayed in a lot of properties and found very little about the Wren that we didn't like. The covered parking is a huge plus and you are assigned a spot so you never have to search for one. The one bedroom has a fold-out couch for guests and there are two full bathrooms with tubs and showers. The kitchen is roomy and is well stocked. One little thing makes a difference, and for me it was that they had both coffee cups and mugs. I love having a mug for my coffee that holds enough that it doesn't get cold in a few minutes. I needed a mixer and the front desk had one available for me. The bed is comfortable and the patio overlooks Gore Creek. We loved the hot tub although we found it way too hot. It was probably 103°, which in the summer/early fall is really hot. The chlorine smell was too strong too. On the plus side, pool and hot tub time had to be reserved, which allowed the social distancing required right now. Sign up sheets were in the office. We also would have liked it if they opened earlier and stayed open later. The distance from town has been complained about a lot, but wasn't a problem for us. We took a walk every morning into town before everything opened, then came back for breakfast and showers. From there, we'd take another walk along the creek, once even over to Lionshead. If you like walking, this is perfect for you!

Overall, our stay at the Wren was nice. The location was convenient with frequent shuttle service to the Golden Peak lift every morning and at the end of day. The location was a nice leasurely walk to and from Vail Village apres ski in winter boots along the creek trail but would not be a comfortable walk in ski boots to and from the ski area. Unfortunately, our fireplace did not work but we were told that a part was on back-order. The Dish satellite spontaneously disconnected on day 2, but the after-hours attendant walked us through the process to reset the AV system. The kitchen lacked a large skillet, but we made due with the stew pot to fry some bacon. The property was daated and our sleeper couch had tears that were duct taped. The property was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not use the hot tub or pool drring the COVID-19 oandemic, but the office required reservations and we could smell the chlorine so it was probably safe. We would be happy to return as our primary mission was to ski all day from open to close and come back to a quiet and safe location to cook a nice meal and crash until another day of skiing.

Nice sized rooms and great pool area. Close to town (walking distance) and many trails nearby. Skiing is essentially right outside. We went in the offseason though, which was still nice for hiking. Short drive to Safeway and about 90 minutes to Denver. A few small complaints or comments, but overall very nice place. 1. The bed was very stiff and the pillows were oversized body ones. Not comfortable to me and it was rough on my back/neck but maybe others would like that? Personal preference I guess. Also not sure why I could hear the highway and pool activities in my room, even in the October off season. Place was nowhere near capacity and the noise was still an issue. Could be VERY loud in peak season I'd assume 2. Instead of using tape on the sofa to cover a huge rip, just get a new sofa or get it repaired right. It looks poor and cheap that you have tape on leather. 3. If you're getting international travel during Covid regulations, front desk staff should know where to get tested and/or have information to let guests save time and feel safe. We had to call multiple clinics and hospitals in the area to try and get info so we could be tested to leave on a flight. If management has that info for their staff, they can help us easily instead of making each guests call on their own and look for info. Be a resource for your people. Customer service. Still a 4/5 though and I would go again.
