We have stayed in a lot of properties and found very little about the Wren that we didn't like. The covered parking is a huge plus and you are assigned a spot so you never have to search for one. The one bedroom has a fold-out couch for guests and there are two full bathrooms with tubs and showers. The kitchen is roomy and is well stocked. One little thing makes a difference, and for me it was that they had both coffee cups and mugs. I love having a mug for my coffee that holds enough that it doesn't get cold in a few minutes. I needed a mixer and the front desk had one available for me. The bed is comfortable and the patio overlooks Gore Creek.

We loved the hot tub although we found it way too hot. It was probably 103°, which in the summer/early fall is really hot. The chlorine smell was too strong too. On the plus side, pool and hot tub time had to be reserved, which allowed the social distancing required right now. Sign up sheets were in the office. We also would have liked it if they opened earlier and stayed open later.

The distance from town has been complained about a lot, but wasn't a problem for us. We took a walk every morning into town before everything opened, then came back for breakfast and showers. From there, we'd take another walk along the creek, once even over to Lionshead. If you like walking, this is perfect for you!

Overall, our stay at the Wren was nice. The location was convenient with frequent shuttle service to the Golden Peak lift every morning and at the end of day. The location was a nice leasurely walk to and from Vail Village apres ski in winter boots along the creek trail but would not be a comfortable walk in ski boots to and from the ski area. Unfortunately, our fireplace did not work but we were told that a part was on back-order. The Dish satellite spontaneously disconnected on day 2, but the after-hours attendant walked us through the process to reset the AV system. The kitchen lacked a large skillet, but we made due with the stew pot to fry some bacon. The property was daated and our sleeper couch had tears that were duct taped. The property was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not use the hot tub or pool drring the COVID-19 oandemic, but the office required reservations and we could smell the chlorine so it was probably safe. We would be happy to return as our primary mission was to ski all day from open to close and come back to a quiet and safe location to cook a nice meal and crash until another day of skiing.

Nice sized rooms and great pool area. Close to town (walking distance) and many trails nearby. Skiing is essentially right outside. We went in the offseason though, which was still nice for hiking. Short drive to Safeway and about 90 minutes to Denver.
A few small complaints or comments, but overall very nice place.
1. The bed was very stiff and the pillows were oversized body ones. Not comfortable to me and it was rough on my back/neck but maybe others would like that? Personal preference I guess. Also not sure why I could hear the highway and pool activities in my room, even in the October off season. Place was nowhere near capacity and the noise was still an issue. Could be VERY loud in peak season I'd assume
2. Instead of using tape on the sofa to cover a huge rip, just get a new sofa or get it repaired right. It looks poor and cheap that you have tape on leather.
3. If you're getting international travel during Covid regulations, front desk staff should know where to get tested and/or have information to let guests save time and feel safe. We had to call multiple clinics and hospitals in the area to try and get info so we could be tested to leave on a flight. If management has that info for their staff, they can help us easily instead of making each guests call on their own and look for info. Be a resource for your people. Customer service.

Still a 4/5 though and I would go again.

The location was wonderful! It's situated right along Gore Creek and next door to Betty Ford Alpine Gardens with lots of walking paths available. It's not very close to restaurants or supermarkets. There are heated hot tubs and a heated outdoor pool on site. The unit was nice. The bed was very comfortable. There was no salt or pepper in the kitchen, so I was glad I had brought my own. At the supermarkets in Vail, you need to bring your own bags or you are charged for each bag. The Wren provided a cloth bag for my use which I really appreciated!

My family really enjoyed our accomodations at the The Wren. It is an older property, but it seems to have been maintained very well and is improving. I was told the fire pit area was all new and there is a nice community room with couches TV and shuffleboard table.
The furniture in our unit was very nice, new and comfortable, and the kitchen was in great shape. The pool and hot tubs were wonderful, kids had a blast swimming with snow piled up just feet away. We also appreciated the underground parking.
Is it a bit of a walk to the lifts? Probably about 15 mintues to Golden Peak lifts (no need to walk all the way to the gondala), probably longer if you were wearing ski boots, but that's why I just wear regular shoes and throw my stuff in a locker when I get there. On mornings when we didn't want to walk we found the shuttle to be pretty easy to use for the ride to the lifts, but harder to find when done for the day in the afternoon. Also, during our stay you had to actually bring your skis on the bus which was a pain, but our last day it seemed they had added a ski rack to the outside of the vehicle.
Anyway, I would stay here again. Is it in the heart of the village? No, but then again it's half the the price of ones that are and you get a nice sized room and kitchen to boot. Its a condo not a hotel, if you want to hit the village you can walk the fifteen mins or drive the two mins away and park for free after 3pm(just make sure it's a town owned public lot) ….or just bring your own food and drinks and you don't need to worry!

We arrived in Vail without a place to stay and thankfully the Wren had availability. the front desk staff was more than helpful and friendly. The location is only a 10-15 minute walk to the main shopping area of Vail. The building is in a perfect location overlooking the river. The 3 bedroom condo was very spacious and nicely decorated. No complaints at all and would stay here again.

We were pleased with every aspect of The Wren. Excellent location between Betty Ford Aspen Gardens to Vail Village. The units are updated and the location of the pool, spas, grills are convenient to all units. We had a wonderful month in beautiful surroundings. Will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wren. It’s extremely close to the Vail ski resort, and has very well equipped kitchens. Both the pool and a hot tub were very nice, and well-maintained, as were the other common areas. Having a Murphy bed in the unit was a pleasant surprise.

You are a bit close to I-70, so you do get some road noise, especially when you are in the pool or hot tub. The rooms themselves, while very comfortable, could use a bit of a refresh, especially the pull out couch.

I would stay there again. .

The Wren runs very frequent shuttles to Golden Peak from which one can access all of Vail’s slopes. Our unit, no. 409 was handsomely furnished, had a fair amount of food essentials, olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, soaps etc; so one did not have to furnish provisions from scratch. Views extended toward the slopes; the bedroom faced the rear, and, at times during the night, truck traffic was disturbing. I would definitely recommend the condo we stayed in if you are thinking of skiing Vail.

Very nice resort. It is an older resort that has been remodeled. Very close to restaurants and ski lifts and shops and we walked and took the free bus to the other side. Our room was right in front of the river which was nice because had a beautiful view. They warmed the pool in the winter to like 92 degrees so we got to enjoy this trip. The staff was wonderful. Beds were nice. 2 problems was the extra bed was a murphy bed and for people like me with bad backs and wife with a bad shoulder it was painful for us to put it back so my son just slept on the couch which was uncomfortable but that is life. You can hear the cars from the freeway in our room because we are so close to it but that didn't bother us at all. Electric heating system needs to be updated but we really enjoyed our stay. The place always stayed warm.

Hi. Where is the closest place from The Wren to get a massage in August? Thanks.
Answer from WJD_CO
Longmont, Colorado2,385 contributions114 helpful votes
The Vail Vitality Center is a short walk away on the path along the creek to the west. The Spa at Vail Mountain Lodge is a few steps west of that. Vail Integrative Medicine Group is on the S. Frontage Rd. E just west of that. Also the Vail Mobile Massage will come to the Wren. Hope that helps. If you have internet access you can look them all up, or just call the desk at the Wren to book something.

Thank you for your inquiry. The Wren does not have a fitness center. The closest fitness center is the Vail Athletic Club 970-476-7721 Sincerely, Derek

The Wren shuttle departs every 15 min. from the Wren from 8:15 to noon. Get a complete schedule on pick up/drop off points form the desk at the Wren. It is a full page long and too much to type here. Enjoy your stay. I am here now and my hard drive died. Good thing there is a computer for guests to use in the lobby.
