First things first! You don’t get better location in Vail Village! We’ve been coming to Vail for about 20 years at least once a year and this was my first time at the Lodge at Vail. I was super excited to try it. Thought the gym was great - the spa looked great but I didn’t get a chance to go! Loved eating at Elways and thought the breakfast was delicious - well priced - and had super friendly staff. The pool and hot tubs were also great. We also were sorta obsessed with the flavored water / seltzer machine. We stayed in a condo at the Lodge at Vail and I have to say, it’s truly the first time in 2 decades where we stayed somewhere where there was space to put away all our clothes and gear. Usually there is no room for anything but there was more than enough space - the condo was thoughtfully laid out - and I was fhrilllllled to have laundry. The real only downside is when we checked in - and to be fair it was before check in time but our room was ready so they let us check in - it was filthy. Like dirt and dust everywhere. There was construction going on across the hall and our unit sorta smelled like plaster at times during the stay. When we spoke to them about it - they couldn’t have been more accommodating- they sent the cleaning staff up immediately and they really did an extremely thorough job with it all. I had hoped they would have done a little something more for us being how dirty it was / but they did rectify the situation so I guess that was fine enough. All in all we had a really nice time here and I would definitely try it again!

The location was perfect. The concierge, Kathryn, was incredibly helpful. The Cucina restaurant and lounge at the Lodge was a nice spacious space for breakfast, after ski refreshments and live music, as well as for doing some work there in the middle of the afternoon. The fitness facility was good. The junior suite was tiny — a quite small hotel room (not even a mini fridge).

Our family arrived on the day after Christmas. Checked in to a 3 bedroom condo only to find that the refrigerator did not work and the kitchen was not fitted out for use. Nicely Kate at the front desk very capably switched us to another room that suited us quite well. Room was great. Front desk great. Bell staff great (including Brian who has been there for enough seasons to be well remembered and always helpful. Ryan (I think) has moved from bell staff to front desk. The presence of staff over a number of years speaks very well of a place that was opened in the 1960’s and pretty much feels like it. Housekeeping was better than it has ever been and they kept our room in very nice condition. Food and Beverage, tragically, has gone astray. One of the nicest features of the hotel was an excellent and welcoming breakfast service. The room was redone and reopened not quite two weeks before we got there. They have apparently decided to change the format and certainly have no attention to quality. No fresh juices and very few food items worth eating. No menu options and little attention to service. Front of dining room was hosted by Argentine Sofia and she was terrific and sympathetic. Not enough to make up for awful food but certainly nice. Similarly the Lodge has for many decades served freshly baked cookies for after skiing by the fireplace. Cookies came hot and fresh every so often and great. But no more. Now they put out frou frou streudel that is neither fresh nor interesting and was there daily. Complained to the new GM and it felt like it was not news to him. Still; all things considered, the Lodge will still be our go-to in Vail. If the staff changes too much and the level of service drops then we may have to go elsewhere. I do miss great breakfast and my wife and kids miss the cookies. But it’s still The Lodge at Vail.

Great location, right in Vail village, walk to everything from here. That's the end of the good. We stayed for a weekend getaway right after my husband had been traveling internationally on business. We were hoping for a restful escape. Instead, every hour, something in the HVAC system sounded like it was a trash cart full of glass bottles crashing into the side of the wall. When I first heard it, I thought a local restaurant was dumping their recycling. But no, every hour, there would be a jackhammering sound and then the crash. No one slept well. My husband complained to the front desk staff upon checkout and played a recording of the exceptionally awful noise. To their credit, a manager called later that day and offered a discount, which we accepted. We also received a follow up email from the general manager offering us a complimentary nights stay as they wanted to further make up for the experience. He said they were putting a voucher in the mail directly. Again, I gratefully accepted based on our terrible experience. The promised voucher never materialized and follow up emails to the manager went unanswered. They won't be getting a second chance from us.

The Hotel has an excellent location in the middle of everything. Room was nice and the front desk people were courteous. My problem is that the room temperature controls didn't do anything. I had the thermostat set at 60 degrees and it was constantly 70 to 72 degrees,. I needed to open the door to the outside to cool the room. The interior corridors were also hot. The breakfast buffet was being served in a conference, and looked horrible. Rockresorts has slipped quite a few notches in my opinion.

This was probably the worst experience I have had at what is considered a highly rated and priced hotel. We booked what I though was the highest teared King room "Luxury", when I called to say we had been down graded, the office said 'you have a view of the mountain". It was a really small room with a huge bathroom, supposed to accommodate 3 people, 1 in the huge bathroom? the room is too small for 3, barely room for 2 unless one is always in the bathroom. My calculation is 250 sf for the bathroom and the remainder is 130 sf for the room. The room as pictured on the hotel's website is deceitful as it is much smaller and cannot accommodate the tan love seat and the 2 chairs has about 1' to squeeze by, see below. (when I booked it, the range was 380-450 but I believe they made the bigger ones into 2 queen). Within hours of booking our stay I decided to add a day, I booked it and called into to 'link' the reservation so we would not need to change rooms. I was assured when I called in, that everything was set. It was not, we had to change rooms. This time across the hall, (no mountain view) but when I asked, well they told me the view was what made our room a 'Luxury', I got another load of BS. So then the room change, keep in mind this is our last ski day and I made it really clear I wanted to be out and skiing. I was told our room would be ready for us to just pack up and move across the hall early the day before.'Not ready just yet, 30 minute' called back after 1hr, not ready yet let me look into it... anther 15 minutes and so on for over 2.5 hrs (of me missing out on our last day of skiing!!) Finally, I called in and said my bags are packed and we are whittling the slopes. Staff moved our stuff into a new room down the hall, a really exceptional Luxury Suite, everything was better, a normal and spacious Bedroom, a huge bathroom, and the adjacent living room, same view of the Ski patrol Office and a wee bit of obstructed mountain but view is not my thing. Both outdoor hot tubs are now broken, one was broken for the duration of our stay. So on our last day (Managers, when one breaks you fix it ASAP vs the mindset of ' at lease one working'- unless you are a budget motel), I have a few things I love and an after ski outdoor hot tub is up there!!!! well at least it was not a full day of skiing thank's to The Lodge staff and Vail staff. So our last day, the last day of our 20 year anniversary trip, A Trip of a Life Time that was 20 years in the making left me feeling manipulated and lied to. We could have went and stayed anywhere, and I did my research and decided on The Lodge for this trip of a lifetime. Location was nice (a star for that) but we typically do ski in and out or short walks to lift with our family so it was not anything amazing for Vail. Staff was just okay, Probably a really bad manager and high turnover as it did not have a good vibe. Had anyone just been upfront with the bate and switch, or any comprehension of basic high end hotel operations vs making me feel like I was the Crazy lady- yes ladies one can expect that at The Lodge. I do note the upgrade for our last night, but it was a little too late and it also confirmed our below par original room (the bedroom area was normal size and might be the one in the photo for the Luxury room king bed. My trust in RockResorts for such an important anniversary is ruined. At least we got to celebrate dinner at Mountain Standard (twice)- WOW amazing and Ski.

This was an amazing location. Our Condo was beautiful and fully stocked. Bailey at the front desk was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken well care of. She is a true value to the Lodge. Would highly recommend staying here anytime of year.

Our room had a huge stand-alone portable air conditioner that was vented outside with a large diameter hose through the window. The air conditioner was so noisy we could not sleep all night. We got up exhausted and checked out. Other negatives: - Darn dingy rooms - Weak WiFi - TV system that is hard to navigate for streaming services. Pluses: - Excellent staff - Best location

Our first trip to Vail, CO was made even better by the Lodge at Vail! The hotel has a fantastic location, right in the heart of Vail Village. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. We liked it so much, we cancelled a reservation for an upcoming trip at another hotel to book the Lodge at Vail again. We can't wait for our second stay! More to come.

Loved the Lodge at Vail..when planning trip it had mixed reviews but we could not have been happier. Gorgeous, charming, beautiful room overlooking Vail village with outdoor patio, huge bathroom, huge room (photos did not do it justice). Service was great, too cold for pool and hot tub but looked very inviting. Two delicious restaurants on site and you can walk out the back door to the Village. View of Gondola from room. Valet for car. ($50 a night). Couldn't have been a better experience!
