Travelers' Choice
Luxury night's sleep minus the luxury price. The Rabbit Ears Motel, located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is your choice for comfortable, affordable lodging right in the center of downtown. Either they built Steamboat around our motel, or our motel was conveniently built in the center of all the action. So, both ways, you know that all the activities and nightlife the valley provides are in close proximity. Choose a weekend get-away for the family, or stay with us the whole week. World-class skiing with slope-side ski-in, ski-out convenience is expensive and overrated. Our motel is right on the main street and just a 5 minutes' bus ride to the gondola and the base of the ski area. Oh, and the bus is free. Lastly, all our guests are welcome to get reduced-priced Old Town Hot Springs passes for our recreation center, just across the street.

I experienced a problem with a staff member during my visit. When I went to checkout, it appeared that the staff member had already spoken to the manager. The manager, Beth, had no desire to listen to me. She interuppted constantly and then threw the managers business card at me. She told me, "You can tell him, but he won't care. We don't have to treat people well to have plenty of business." Even if you are a high volume business, it is still imperative to have a baseline level of civility when interacting with your customers. I'm disappointed with how Beth treated me and from her attitude, I'm pretty sure it'll be the same response I get from the ownership. This place is trash. Don't say here.

First time I've been back here in some years. Yes, the classic neon Rabbit Ears Motel sign still shines brightly. And it is still the best motel for a casual, short walk to the restaurants, tap rooms, etc. in Steamboat. Plus, for you cyclists, it is right next to the paved bike trail next to the Yampa river. The check-in staff were very friendly and efficient. The room had all the usual and expected "stuff" and was well cleaned. A bonus! - The bathroom had what looked like a recent upgrade with the bath/shower being well designed for once. Why? The shelf for the soap, shampoo was out of the way of the shower spray, so no wet, soggy soap. (One of the best shower enclosure designs I've ever seen.) While COVID protocols were still in place when I visited, they still were able to provide a good but safe breakfast in their spacious dedicated room. The windows to the outside provided fun people watching. And the food supplies were well stocked, with the area being cleaned after each use. A final plus: for a tourist town, the prices were better than the much more distant chain motels.

My room was small and didn't really look or feel clean. It provided me with a place to sleep, but I wouldn't plan on staying there again. On a positive note, the clerk did recommend a fine Italian restaurant in town and I had a nice dinner.

Everything was comfortable and clean in this motel. Rabbit Ears is right on the main street so easy to walk around town. There is a water park right across the street and a park with walking trail next door. Breakfast was included and there is ample parking. We had a river view room, which was lovely except for the mosquitoes. We were naively unprepared for them. We will stay here again whenever we are in Steamboat Springs as the location is ideal and they have everything we want in a motel.

We chose this hotel because it felt very touristy. It was an awesome choice! It is an older type property, but it was very clean and comfortable. Check in was fast and friendly. We found a hot springs a bike ride away nearby and enjoyed relaxing there after a long drive. We'd definitely stay again.

I cannot tell a lie, I never want to stay anywhere else in Steamboat Springs. We only ever say one night, but I always splurge and get a room along the creek. It's a little more isolated and the view is fabulous for a downtown hotel. I love being able to walk downtown right from the hotel. And the hike/bike trail is right there as well. I just find it so homey. If you need fancy-schmancy, stay somewhere else. If you like clean, comfortable, homey rooms, then stay here.

Very good motel in an excellent location on edge of Main Street opposite town hot springs. Short walk to the numerous excellent pubs and restaurants in town and right beside bus stop to ski slopes ( some direct so only 10 mins). Rooms decent size and very clean ( we had rooms with balcony overlooking the creek and woods behind the motel). Front of house team very helpful and friendly. Basic buffet breakfast available. The original pink neon rabbit sign made us smile every time we saw it.

You’ll want your accommodation to be more understanding than this hotel. We had to leave a day early due to a snowstorm. We were in the car at 12, but couldn’t get a refund us because checkout was 11. I asked for a hotel credit so I could come back - still no - even though there was vacancy. Business is business, but at the end of the day the lack of empathy from the staff is why I’m writing this review. She was cold. It’s not like I wanted to cut my ski trip short! I’d recommend finding a hotel that understands life happens!

This was a two night stay for our first trip to Steamboat. The location is very convenient to walking downtown and very convenient to the Core Trail for walking or biking (note...we saw a bear on the trail from our balcony across the river...). Large parking area. It was nice to have a balcony with 2 chairs on our balcony to enjoy the Yampa. They are dog-friendly but have a strict regulation about not leaving the dog unattended in the room. I'm not sure how this works for most people and it is definitely a more stringent policy than most hotels where we stay. Would have been important to know before signing up for this motel. Most motels ask for crates or just give notice if your dog causes a disturbance....whatever...Also, if you stay here, look closely at the photos online or on TA as the rooms have different configurations of furniture and not all will work for you. We were in the room with two queens and then two additional twin beds which we did not need and were just obstacles and a poor substitution for a couch. A small chair at the desk but no comfy chair to sit and read. Next time we will ask for a room with a sofa or a chair. Also, although the photos on the site seem like the rooms are well-lit, we walked in to a very dark space...walls seemed dark, coverlets dark, carpet dark. It was actually a bit depressing. Nonetheless, this is not to dissuade you from staying here...we would stay again if we didn't have a dog. But discuss which room you desire to see if it is available. Maybe a room with 4 beds might be just what you need for your family. Also...in regards to dogs, their stairways are open metal grating with ridges...the type you see at ski areas. Great for winter, but dogs hate these stairs as they are painful on the paws. Again, if traveling with a dog, request a room in which you do not have to access via these painful steps. This may seem negative but we did enjoy the location.

Great front desk. Room fine. Shower big enough for 2! Excellent wifi. Location within walking distance of everything we needed. Eye-popping value for the price of lodging in Steamboat Springs. We didn't try the breakfast. Also, we didn't bother to pay extra for the river view.
