Detailed Reviews
We chose this hotel because of it’s location downtown. The staff was good, and they did include coffee and a very light breakfast. Their scones were not placed on the counter until around 8:30 am, so we dined elsewhere. Parking beside the building was easy enough, and we were able to walk around the neighborhood with no problems. Our second floor room was so small that I could not open my suitcase, despite the small bench near the foot of the bed. An air conditioning unit took up much of the room space. There was a wall unit, but it was apparently broken (certainly was not working). We did need the air conditioning. The bed was comfortable enough. The bedside light had a charging section for my cell phone, but that did not work to charge the phone during the second night for some reason. The bathroom was very small, with no counter at all, and the sink filled up each time we turned on the water. In a sort of basket hanging on the wall was a privacy sign for the door. There also was a very small round tag hidden under the privacy one-this was supposed to be hung on the room door if you wanted the room to be serviced. We never saw this little tag, so we found the bed unmade, with no fresh towels when we returned in the late afternoon. The desk clerk was able to get things in order before we returned that night. There is no elevator, and you have to carry your bags up a curving staircase-and down a narrow hallway.
There is a lounge area on the second floor, and a hot tub which was closed. The downstairs lounge has a dining table and a nice seating area.

I came across this hotel by chance and ended up staying here for a night during a busy weekend in the summer. The room was clean, simple yet comfortable, and I had a very peaceful and quiet night in the lobby listening to a great selection of old school tunes. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and they even had a bike available so I could go for a ride and experience all the sight-seeing and everything else that Steamboat Springs has to offer. Scones served in the morning were out of this world... Definitely a historic and unique place to be!

This hotel is in a perfect location for walking or biking around Steamboat Springs. Easy walk to dinning, brew pubs, river walk and more. Staff was very friendly and helpful with local recommendations. We stayed in the suite, very large and nice, but since it over looks the Main Street it is a bit noisy sometimes. Im guessing a different room in the back would be much quieter.

We arrived to our hotel room and it was very hot. The a\c was blowing warm air. We spoke to the gentleman at the desk and he explained he would look at it while we were at dinner. When we came back from dinner the room was cold but the a/c was dripping water. It had soaked the floor and got our suitcase wet. I attempted to call the front desk but they close at 9 so i left a message. I had to move furniture around so everything didn’t get soaked and put towels on the floor to soak up the water. At 1 am i woke up and the a/c had quit working and the room was extremely warm. I was up until 5:30 until it started back up and started pouring water out again. The next morning around 9 i received a call from the front desk. The were very nice but i never was offered a refund or at least a substantial discount. We loved the location and the room was very quaint but poor customer service and lack of “ making it right” with us will deter us from staying again.

1) The sink leaked every time we used it.
2) Neither television worked.
3) The walls were paper-thin, you heard every sound in the entire hotel.
4) There are no employees past 8:00 pm (even though their sign clearly stated 9:00 pm)
5) They don't shovel their lots. We got stuck and nobody helped us.
I would never, in my most desperate hour, stay here again.

Only giving a 2 because the staff were nice and the location is great. The hotel itself is beyond tired - which would have been ok if the price reflected the condition of the hotel but it is WAY overpriced for what it is. The room was what youd expect in a cheap roadside motel, the breakfast was stale cereal, old apples and clementines and a small selection of unappetizing pastries, the hot tub was tepid and it was just generally kinda creepy.

Sweet boutique hotel on the main street of Steamboat Springs. While it's an older property, it worked for us for our brief stay. We stayed in the Gold Medal room, which I understand is the largest unit they offer. It was spacious & clean (w/ a nice sized bathroom/shower/sink area) & despite it facing the busy street, throughout the night it was quiet enough that the street noise did not bother us. The only downside is that it was an unusually hot day/evening, so the older air conditioning unit couldn't quite keep us cool enough until the temps dropped at night. The front staff were very nice and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I loved staying at the Bristol because it was steps from everywhere you want to be in downtown Steamboat. It was also very clean and well-kept for an old hotel. They clearly added modern touches.
Two more things: the coffee was fantastic for a hotel - strong and delicious! and,
the daily home-made pastries were amazing. I drooled over the mini croissants.
So why 4 stars out of 5? I suppose I could have given them 5, but my very little room came with a 3'x3' shower. And even I, who am tiny, was squished. But, overall, it was a great experience.

Lovely 1 night stay at The Bristol in the heart of downtown Steamboat. Great central location and easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Not too loud either! Bed was very comfy. Room was a bit small so next time we'd opt for a larger room. But it was fine for 1 night. Staff was very friendly and great to chat with. Clean room too. Would definitely stay here again!!

Response from Geoff Kuhnhausen, General Manager at The Bristol Hotel
Responded Sep 11, 2020
Hello, Abby! Thank you for an awesome review! Glad to see the Bristol could provide you with a comfortable stay in downtown Steamboat! Despite the rooms being a bit smaller, we do have some suite options available. These rooms provide a nice sitting area, akin to a living room, at roughly double the size of a normal room. Check them out, and enjoy a hefty discount if you decide to stay with us again! Thank you again for the great review, and we hope to see you again. All the best in health and fortune, The Bristol Staff

DO NOT STAY HERE. I am absolutely, completely, totally certain that they did not change the sheets from the last guest before I arrived. A hair or 2 is perfectly normal in a hotel. Although my bed was neatly made, there were at least 50 hairs in the bed. I’m certain the housekeeper just made it look like the room was cleaned by making up the bed without changing the sheets. There is no staff after 8pm, so I could not get new sheets. I complained to the clerk at check out. She took my number and relayed that the manager would call me. Never happened. Vile, lazy excuse for hospitality.

Hi Jill,
Very glad to hear that you would like to come stay with us again at The Bristol. We have recently remodeled one of our rooms on the lower floor to offer an extra living space. The Double Diamond Pet Friendly Suite has a queen bed in the bedroom and a living room with a queen sofa sleeper. It is a pet friendly room but we have a lot of guests without pets that really enjoy staying in it.
We also have a King room on the lower floor but it does not have the extra space that you may be looking for. If you would like, you can look at pictures and descriptions on our website.
The rates do vary depending on the dates but the price difference between room types is usually not very significant in the fall season. Being a returning guest we also offer a generous discount if you call and book with us directly.
We hope to see you again next month. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Geoff Kuhnhausen
General Manager
Greetings,
Hotel Bristol is currently open until 10pm everyday. If you arrive after 10pm we do have a late arrival procedure. We will call you on the day of the arrival to give you our front door code. Upon your arrival you will use that code to get into the hotel. There will be an envelope with your name on it at the front desk. Inside the envelope is directions to your room, our newsletter that states the wireless internet code and useful information if you are not familiar with the area, and a parking permit to place on the dashboard of your vehicle. We look forward to your stay and if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks and have a great day.
