Detailed Reviews
This was our first stay at the Grand and it was wonderful. Great location to the Gondola, maybe a five minute walk, ski storage is just a few minutes from the Grand and easily accessible, and you have a short walk to the free buses that take you downtown. The hotel also offers a free shuttle, check with the staff for departure times.
The hotel itself was very quiet, a stark difference compared to some of the other hotels at the mountain. The room was large and spacious. A dining room table easily sits 6-8 people and the kitchen is fully equipped. We didn’t have a balcony but be sure to request one when you make your reservation—-there is no extra charge.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The coffee maker in our room didn’t work and it was replaced within minutes.
The best thing—-hot tub and pool, which are both outside in the open cool air! Nothing better then a hot tub while it is snowing. There are two hot tubs, one for adults and the other for families etc.. The hot tubs were the largest we’ve ever been in so we never were close to anyone in the tub. Adjacent to the hot tub is a large swimming pool.
Super markets for food are close by—a Safeway and City Market are the closest while there is a downtown market that mimics a Whole Foods. We found City Market to be the best option with a wide selection of fruits, veggies, etc and the prices were fair.
We’ve stayed in other hotels but the Grand is without a doubt the best place especially for the cost. We plan to return to the Grand on our next trip to the Boat.

We have been visiting this place for several years now. The prices are slightly high but for the amenities I think it is worth it. The location is right across the street from the mountain and they let you keep your ski gear at a special place that is right across the walking bridge. That is one of the best amenities – that you don’t have to drag your gear back-and-forth each night. Ski boots are hung on a rack that blows hot air into them all night so they are warm and dry and toasty in the morning. The outdoor pool and hot tubs with twinkling lights are really beautiful. The staff is very helpful and overall it is quite luxurious. We always get a unit with kitchen and table that way we can cook our own meals but there are lots of choices nearby and a shuttle that drives around and gets you into town if you don’t have a car. Over the years I have not seen a lot of updates to the rooms and I think it is starting to get a little worn. One of the bedroom drawers was sticky and the microwave turntable didn’t turn. The kitchen barely had the basic necessities we needed to cook so that is why less than five stars. But that’s about the worst thing I can say about our overall stay. The skiing was magnificent.

Just returned home from Steamboat and a great stay at the Grand. Our room had an amazing view of the gondola and the mountain. The location was great and close to skiing, restaurants and the free busses that will take you downtown, grocery shopping or restaurants. The hotel shuttle was also a plus cause they will take you and pick you up wherever you want to go. Hot tubs were very refreshing. The only problem we encountered was in The Cabin restaurant. It took almost an hour to get our dinner and the waitress never came back to see if we needed more drinks nor did she explain why it was taking so long for our food. (it was only 2 of us for dinner not a group). Other than that our stay was amazing.

We stayed in a one-bedroom, one bath unit for three nights in late June. We knew we would be arriving very late and I put in multiple requests for the day beds to be made up in advance for our children. Upon arrival, the front desk confirmed that request was in the system for housekeeping, but when we got to the room, we discovered the beds were not made up, and no extra bedding was left in the room. We finally got bedding via security at 2 a.m.. Additionally, the room was not well cleaned- the floor and night table were sticky, there was chocolate on the table, and the carpet looked filthy. The rooms are dated, which was surprising given the cost.
On the plus side, the pool is great (but be aware that you can only sign up for one two-hour slot per day during COVID time). The location is good, within walking distance to the base of the ski mountain. We will definitely return to Steamboat, but will choose a different hotel next time.

This is not a four star hotel. I spent a miserable night there with kids running and yelling in the hallway due to a hockey tournament. The front desk assured me that they would have security look into it. After several hours, I requested a room change but it was the same on a different floor. In addition, the pool and spa were closed for an “indeterminate time”. The hotel itself is showing its age with noticeable wear and tear (see pics) and dirty elevators and stairways. There are no mini-fridges in the rooms. Beware of rooms on the northeast side during bad weather - the seals on the balcony doors are no good and the wind howls. Many amenities are unavailable due to the pandemic or lack of staff. My request for a discount due to the noise and bother was given a rude brush off. Clearly, customer service is not a priority. I am a local and highly recommend that visitors to Steamboat stay at other lodgings. This is a 2.5 star hotel at best.

There were many plus factors for staying at the Steamboat Grand, primarily access to the slopes, equipment rentals, transportation and the warm hospitality of many of its employees. The French Toast at breakfast was delicious.
Yet several parts of the hotel felt like they were franchised to third parties to operate, e.g., bar, gift shop and coffee cafe. Waiting to order coffee in the cafe in the morning was very long. The free coffee served in the lobby until 7:00 AM was not well publicized. Also, I felt that the long wait at the bar to be served at Happy Hour was unacceptable, and I left since no one served me. It was like I was invisible to the indifferent staff. It definitely was not a labor shortage issue.
Too many rooms in the lobby area looked like they were real estate sales and business offices. Very few offered hotel amenities. The gift shop had limited souvenirs. The Steamboat Grand felt less like a hotel and more of a ski lodge with each room maintained as a condo unit.
It was disconcerting that I had no robe in my room for the hot tub pool or spa. I had to ask at the front desk for a robe to be sent to my room.
Also, I had to have maintenance replace the dead batteries in my room safe so I could procure valuables. The old battery operated safes should be upgraded. The door lock to room 324 occasionally jammed and required adjustment. Devon from maintenance was great; he repaired everything. But a hotel charging as much as the Steamboat Grand should have functioning safes and door locks. These repair requests compromised my safety. I should get a refund for my room troubles.
My last issue is that late check-out requests would cost $25 per hour. That charge was never stated anywhere. I only learned of that charge when I requested a late check-out.
The best thing I liked was the in-hotel ski boot rentals and their nearby ski shed at the base of the Steamboat Gondola to retrieve and store rentals. That saved much time carrying equipment to and from the slopes.
Overall, I rate the Steamboat Grand 3.5 stars out of five.

I recently attended a wedding in Steamboat and the Bride & Groom had reserved a block of rooms. The only choice was a room with a pull out couch. The pull out couch was at least 20 years old and literally the worst thing I have ever slept on in my life. After spending $200+ per night for 3 days, my back is broken, my shoulder, neck and hips are aching and I can hardly walk. Additionally, there was one very small and lightweight (twin size) blanket for a queen size pull out couch. Aside from the comfort, the furniture was worn and dated. The coffee maker carafe had the wrong lid so coffee poured out sideways. The finishes were all very dated and ugly. I would have expected much more from this resort. I'm not sure why with a room block event this would be the only type of room available. I cannot understand why this option exists for a couple. If the adjacent rooms were part of the package, then I could understand. But to have this as the only choice was ridiculous! Additionally, because this room had two rooms with internal connections, the sound coming from the adjacent rooms was extremely loud. Needless to say, I barely slept for 3 nights. Was a terrible experience.

Beautiful Rooms we had a 1 bedroom (449) condo gas fireplace full kitchen beautiful views . Maid service outstanding, cleaned everything and did the dishes! Hallways very clean great elevator services ! Very nice helpful at the front desk ! Concierge service was top notch helped with a dinner reservation. The ski service was very confusing had to get use to leaving skis and boots in different places? And then I had to carry 2 pairs of skis and polls with the ski attend put on my shoulders and and told me to go slow? Carried them all the back to check in area by myself 200 yards . That was just terrible service ! The bar area way over priced . Room service pizza was not edible . Area restaurants very expensive. Did the snow cat dinner $630 for 3 people . Took gondola to top and then a snow cat to 4 points lodge . Dinner was ok . Service super wonderful. Food was a 6 out of 10 but it was more about the New Year’s Eve experience. Skiing was top notch great conditions must be a very good skier to ski this terrain.

This is a 2-3 star hotel that charges you as a 5 star. Our room was small. The shower door did not close completely and water leaked all over the bathroom floor. The door latch to the balcony is placed so close to the edge, you scraped your hand every time you opened or closed the door. The $20 daily resort/parking fee for parking ACROSS the street was absurd!
The excuse for not having daily room service because of COVID is a scam. The pandemic is largely over. Every business is now open and no one requires masks. For the hotel to deny daily room service on account of "safety" is ridiculous! I had to ask for coffee every morning from the service desk. Will not stay here again.

Reception and valet staff were perfectly nice, but...
We expected better for a $300/night room in one of Steamboat's largest resorts. The room was dingy and featured stained carpet, cheap decor and noise from door to the connected room. See photos. The parking garage across the street should be demolished – it's beyond repair and an unsettling place to leave a car.

Hello, we have on-site laundry machines on our second floor, but the rooms themselves do not have washers and dryers.
I believe there is along the river....I rode it a few times... very level and gorgeous
The parking lot across the street is $5/day. Great option and just out the front entrance.
On the drive up, through Silverthorn and on 40, it was beautiful and they were changing. In steamboat itself it was just getting started.
