We flew from Tampa to Denver and then drove 3 hours to Steamboat. It’s a beautiful drive through the mountains but your brakes better be in good shape. Lots of windy roads and steep grades. Doing the trip from DEN airport to Steamboat at night of in foul weather will be a challenge. We stopped in Silverthorne at a restaurant called Sauce on the Blue, an Italian restaurant. If the weather is nice they have a nice outdoor area. The food was very good and the staff were nice. I throughly checked out the hotel’s website which I found to be more about marketing than providing information. I called ahead with questions and asked more once here. I didn’t always get the same answers from various staff members so be aware of this! We had a one Bedroom that is quite large. Full kitchen, large open area, large bedroom and bathroom. On arrival we reported the following problems in our room: - No pancake turner - Bedroom window shade: the pull chain is broken - Bedroom closet doors don’t work right - Light bulbs needed in tub/shower and night stand lamp - Phone in common area had a bad handset We were told checkers check the rooms but I guess ours was missed. When we called the front desk repair people were sent and housekeeping came to be sure we had adequate supplies. The hotel is very responsive. Check In - Check in went smoothly. We arrive after 10 PM but there was a guy available to help us with our luggage. Since we were coming here for a wedding we had lots of clothes to bring meaning additional suitcases. Be sure to sure to check out the parking charges. The hotel offers a shuttle to go downtown which was recommended to us due to the parking situation. We did take our car and did not have any problems parking but this may not be true during other seasons. Room Service - Was not available but you can go downstairs & pick up your food. Restaurant(s) - The Cabin Food quality - Not great. The food was ok but my Fish Tacos were cold. My husband got the special, taquitos, which he said were just OK. Temperature - Mine was cold. Husband’s taquitos were only warm. Service - Slow, Waiter was not familiar with the menu & unable to answer questions. Others got the sliders and said they were good. Another group of friends waited 45 minutes for their food and were not happy. Beds - Sheets - Good Pillows - fine & plenty of them Comfort - good Mattress - good Nightstand (s) - there are 2 and each have 2 drawers. Master Bath room Number of sinks - two Water pressure - fine Hot water - very good Products - fine Counter Space - plenty Magnifying mirror - yes Shower - tub shower Hand Held - no Tub - yes Towels - good Hair Dryer - yes Staff - Some things we asked the staff were answered differently by different people. All were friendly but not always not knowledgeable. Electronics - Clock, two TV’s - bedroom and great room Housekeeping - Fine. Entertainment - There is a to to do near the hotel Room - Size - one bedroom: large, plenty of room Table - Yes, sits at least 6 Has a gas fire place. In room coffee makers - yes, and the hotel/supplies great coffee. Be sure to ask for the Moose Drool Mud by Steamboat Coffee Roaster Make up area - I used the desk in the bedroom and have my own travel makeup mirror Closet space - plenty. Double closet in bedroom/and double closet in the hallway Air conditioning - Two thermostats. One in the bedroom/and one in the great room Furniture - Bedroom: King bed, two nightstands each with two drawers, Dresser with TV on it and only two double drawers, desk with chair, and another cushioned chair Safe - YES, in bedroom. holds a laptop easily. Main Area: Mini Bar - no WiFi - yes Special Requests - all were taken care of Refrigerator - full size but it was noisy. Ice maker in freezer Microwave - yes Toaster - yes Full Length Mirror - yes, in bedroom Luggage Storage - we stored in hallway closet Do they recycle? - yes Ice Machine - yes, but not on our floor (5) Pool - yes Chairs - yes, but no small tables Hot Tub - two, one adults only & one for all ages Pets - not sure Bars - yes, in The Cabin restaurant Bugs/ Creatures - didn’t see any Front Desk - Good Parking - yes, paid

Hotel's Favorite
Stayed at the Grand while visiting family. Beautiful hotel, fantastic views and great amenities. Shout out to Rebekah at the front desk for her prompt responses and attention to details with helping us have a great stay. This was our first hotel with a humidifier AND hand held clothes steamer (which i’ve already gone and bought myself one. what a GREAT perk). The humidifier was tricky but Rebekah explained to us how to set it up and it was really helpful with the dryer air. The hotel room had the best view of the slopes and gondola (which is so much fun to ride up and see the beautiful views) and the beds slept like a dream. Robes were also provided and there was adequate USB access for all of our devices. There was an in room coffee maker and mini fridge so we never made it to the cafe or bar. The gym was equipped with more than the usual equipment and the pool/jacuzzi was spectacular. Everything was really clean and we felt safe and well cared for. I highly recommend this hotel for your next Steamboat trip! (not too mention there’s just so much to do in Steamboat and great places to shop and eat) My only tiny suggestion to the hotel would be a smart tv. In todays market with a hotel of this caliber it really is the norm and it would eradicate the need for so many channels to flip through. just a thought!

Cooling Technology Summer Workshop hosted at Grand. Staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating with good food and libations. One shortfall as far as the conference was weakness of the internet services which caused many interruptions trying to tie remote participants and presenters. "Retail" internet in rooms had some streaming interruptions but not excessive with connectivity throughout property.

Not a 4 star hotel as advertised. Very old and outdated decor, room hvac and service. Horrible coffee maker in room. Was there 6 nights and never had bed made up much less sheet change. Only maid service was daily trash empty and towels exchanged. Front desk staff was unprofessional in my opinion and didn’t explain the housekeeping policy or much of anything. Hotel staff was sloppy in dress and attitude. Nice fitness facility and pool. Only positive amenity.

This was a very disappointing stay. We thought we were treating ourselves to a romantic couple nights away in a grand location. The scenery in and around Steamboat Springs is grand, however the Steamboat Grand Resort was not. The rooms are very dated. The king bed had a terrrible sag in the middle. The bathroom sink had a crack in it. The shower tile grout was moldy. The hair dryer did not work. The air conditioning did not work. We received a slip of paper under our door saying the heating system was being worked on between 10a-5p so not hot water! The pool was closed (and the poolside snack bar/cafe). The market/convenience store was closed. The concierge was unavailable the entire time we were there. They charged extra for self parking and the parking garage was very dark and unsafe.

Wonderful Family Trip! We will be back! This was a long awaited trip for our family. We had previously tried to come and we’re not able to due to COVID two years in a row. It was definitely worth the wait. It was my family’s first time skiing. We put the kids in ski school for the first two days and then hired a private guide for the others. The slopes were in pretty good shape even in late March. Everyone was very friendly, the restaurants were all really good. The downtown shuttle was very convenient and we enjoyed going downtown one of the nights. My family felt very comfortable there and we all left wanting to come back. I highly recommend this for a family trip.

This is an awesome resort just across the street from the base of the gondola. The lobby is huge and very impressive, with a large fireplace and several waterfalls. The rooms are rustic yet elegant, and the views of the mountain are spectacular. The staff is stellar and very helpful. Our 1bedroom condo was spacious enough, it slept 6 and while a 2 bedroom would have certainly given us more room we made it work and everyone slept well. The full kitchen was a great luxury to have and was well used. They have a great gym, steam room, sauna, pool and 2 of the biggest hot tubs we’ve ever seen, very helpful after a full day of skiing. Everything was clean and well maintained. They had a small market on site, but not many options, recommend hitting the grocery store before check in. They have a very nice, fine dining restaurant, The Cabin, on site as well as a Thai restaurant and a fully loaded liquor store at the base. We skied for 6 days, the mountain is huge, almost 3,000 acres. Perfect ratio of blacks, blues and greens. At one time we had 9 family members skiing! They all had something that worked for them. Base of mountain is a little small but is getting an expansion with an ice skating rink, additional restaurants and commercial space. The town is about 3 miles away so you have to drive or take the Grand shuttle. It has a lot of shops, art galleries, restaurants bars, etc. Very charming with authentic western hospitality. Many good restaurants, especially recommend E3 steakhouse. Can’t wait to come back!

We met with friends one of whom was celebrating a milestone birthday. I’m sure in its heyday, which seriously was not that long ago this was the place to stay. Across the street from the gondolas, literally walking distance to ski. I’m not going to review it’s proximity to skiing. A major update is needed. Our sink was cracked & the shower & bath were filthy. I wouldn’t have our bath mat as a dog rag it was that far gone..tatty, hard & grey (supposed to be white). Wall paint was chipped, room furniture was beat up & grubby. I took the bath mat to the front desk & left it there. The one which appeared in its place..white, new & fluffy is what I would expect to find in my room. A particularly gross thing this hotel does in these ‘covid’ times is to take tissues from a box in one guests room & stuff it into a tissue box in another room. So you have the germs from one set of guests pushed onto the unsuspecting guests in another room..all in the hotels efforts to pinch pennies & save money..just so gross!! The staff in this hotel are predominantly young & amazing..I don’t know why they stay. Many of the staff wear multiple hats & work long hours..I really hope they are paid very well..don’t forget to tip them. I for one will not go back.

There were many plus factors for staying at the Steamboat Grand, primarily access to the slopes, equipment rentals, transportation and the warm hospitality of many of its employees. The French Toast at breakfast was delicious. Yet several parts of the hotel felt like they were franchised to third parties to operate, e.g., bar, gift shop and coffee cafe. Waiting to order coffee in the cafe in the morning was very long. The free coffee served in the lobby until 7:00 AM was not well publicized. Also, I felt that the long wait at the bar to be served at Happy Hour was unacceptable, and I left since no one served me. It was like I was invisible to the indifferent staff. It definitely was not a labor shortage issue. Too many rooms in the lobby area looked like they were real estate sales and business offices. Very few offered hotel amenities. The gift shop had limited souvenirs. The Steamboat Grand felt less like a hotel and more of a ski lodge with each room maintained as a condo unit. It was disconcerting that I had no robe in my room for the hot tub pool or spa. I had to ask at the front desk for a robe to be sent to my room. Also, I had to have maintenance replace the dead batteries in my room safe so I could procure valuables. The old battery operated safes should be upgraded. The door lock to room 324 occasionally jammed and required adjustment. Devon from maintenance was great; he repaired everything. But a hotel charging as much as the Steamboat Grand should have functioning safes and door locks. These repair requests compromised my safety. I should get a refund for my room troubles. My last issue is that late check-out requests would cost $25 per hour. That charge was never stated anywhere. I only learned of that charge when I requested a late check-out. The best thing I liked was the in-hotel ski boot rentals and their nearby ski shed at the base of the Steamboat Gondola to retrieve and store rentals. That saved much time carrying equipment to and from the slopes. Overall, I rate the Steamboat Grand 3.5 stars out of five.

I probably would have gone 3.5/5 if I could have. We stayed in a 1bd room with 3 kids. There was plenty of room for the five of us. Pros: Location was adequate. A short walk to the slopes was nice. If you are the type to take breaks back at your room, there are better options for ski in/out. They store your equipment in the village on your way to the gondola. This was nice to just keep everything close and made the walk easier. Very convenient. Pool and hot tubs were nice. There is one family hot tub and one 18+ hot tub so you don't have to deal with kids if you don't want to. The staff was friendly and quick to respond with requests....such as extra blankets. Like another reviewer mentioned, all the appliances are new. Cons: When we arrived to our room and opened the door, it was already occupied. Luckily they weren't in it, but all their luggage was there and opened. It took a little bit too long to get this situation resolved. All the door handles seemed to be broken. They were all loose, and didn't work that well. Shower didn't work that great. My wife just decided to use the shower in the fitness area instead. The was a left over product in the nightstand from the previous occupants...pretty gross. There is a market store that closes early, so if you want snacks you are out of luck and are instructed to go to the hotel restaurant/bar. Our fireplace worked the first day, then it wouldn't turn back on the rest of the trip. Overall we had a great time and the cons didn't really affect us too much, but enough to remember them.
