Considering the cost, we expected more. The location is very nice. There was no one there upon arrival which we had been informed of, but there was really no one there practically the entire time we were there, except for a short period for breakfast. Part of a B&B experience, in our opinion, is to be able to talk to the hosts and find out about restaurants in town and things to do in the area. After the breakfast clean up, none of the hosts were around. We anticipated, from previous reviews, that the breakfast would be outstanding. The first morning we had french bread topped with brie cheese (not melted), apples, scrambled eggs and arugula. It was a nice presentation but the eggs were cold. There was a side of bacon but it was so salty it wasn't tasty. The mattress in the room rolled to the center. As for the room being called a suite, it was simply an extra dark side room with a small couch that could be pulled out for an extra bed and an armoire for hanging clothes. We had hoped to get a receipt the last morning we were there but no one was around.…
Beautiful inn - lovely room - great breakfast. I felt totally comfortable here. Everyone was nice, pleasant company. It was also closer to downtown than I originally thought, yet still felt apart from other establishments - good location.
25 years ago, we honeymooned at the Mariposa when it was newly opened. We fell in love with the house, interior and the property including Soda Creek flowing off of back yard. We were so excited to come back to celebrate with our daughters. We were so pleased to find the lodge in excellent condition with all of the great features including the amazing dining table and comfortable rooms and shared areas familiar with new touches. Beth is an amazing host and her breakfasts were inspired, locally sourced and so delicious. We look forward to joining Beth at the Mariposa for another anniversary soon.
We absolutely loved the Mariposa Lodge. Location was great. Close to restaurants but away enough into the neighborhood that we felt like locals. The yard is beautiful and the chairs and hammock by the river were an unexpected surprise! We had the whole house to ourselves which was nice and each morning Jenna made us a delicious breakfast and treated us like royalty. We would return just for her hospitality and cooking. Will I Go Back? Yes. Can’t wait trying to make it work for hot air ballon weekend in July.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Beth was so friendly and the food was simply delicious. There's nothing like waking up to the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast before you start your day. We also loved that all of the food was locally sourced. Eating ethically and sustainably is important to us. In addition, I have Celiac disease, and they were able to accommodate my allergies. In fact, everything they had prepared for us was naturally gluten free. I so wish we could have stayed longer. The next time we are in Steamboat Springs we are definitely going to stay at the Mariposa again. I don't have one negative thing to say about them.
