We found this place when searching for a cabin in South Fork. The property is peaceful and beautiful. It sits alongside a stretch of gold medal waters of the Rio Grande. Caught a nice German Brown! The cabin was clean and comfortable and the hosts so kind and helpful. We are going back! Cant wait. The price for what you get cannot be beat. The Riveras

We stayed for a week at Riverside Meadows and loved every single day of being there. The hosts were amazingly welcoming and helpful while giving us plenty of space to pretend we lived there. Everything was clean, well-organized, and in good working shape. The sound of the Rio Grande creates a beautiful, relaxing calm. The location is excellent as amazing hikes are a short drive away and it is close to a well-stocked grocery store. We enjoyed cooking on the propane grills and preparing food in the well-stocked Studio kitchen. Beds were comfortable with soft sheets and good pillows. Furniture and layout of the studio was excellent. We had 2 adults and 2 dogs in the Studio and felt that we had plenty of space. The ceilings are a bit low, but somehow that just added to the charm. I can't say enough wonderful things about this beautiful place and the lovely hosts - Fritz, Paula, and daughter Sadi are the best. If you are lucky enough to snag a few nights here, you will not be disappointed.

We were traveling through on business and needed a place to stop during the night. I found this on TA and I can say we were sad we only had a day to spend in this clean, riverside cabin. Fritz and Paula were gracious hosts and even waited up for a late night check in. Cozy, comfortable literally right on the river with a fire pit etc. the pictures do it no justice and were hoping to come back and stay longer next time through plus reasonable.

This place was beautiful! The cabin was nice and clean. Having the river right next to your cabin was an added bonus! We definitely recommend this to anyone who happens to be in the South Fork, CO area!

Riverside Meadows Cabins are ideally located, off the beaten path (do not use google maps) use the instructions given by Fritz. The cabins are located adjacent to Rio Grande river in the gold metal fishing waters on 8 private-secluded acres. The cabins are Norwegian-style dovetail log homes, there are three and we stayed in the guest cabin. The cabin is really beautiful, nice view of the river from the front window and screen door. Their are homey touches throughout the cabin that represent the Norwegian culture such as hand-carved colorful masks and traditional clothing, it has a queen sleigh bed that is very comfortable, large bathroom and closet-very clean. We did not use the Wifi, wanted to stay disconnected. Amenities included a hot tub on site, and inflatable kayaks with shuttle service. We only spent one night here, but think it would be a great basecamp. We really wish we could have spent our entire week here. Fritz and Paula Allen are the ideal hosts provide help when needed. You will awake to the sounds of the river early in the morning. For fishing along the bank there is 70 feet of river frontage to fish, the best method was to cast upstream and let the fly run with the current. Hubby caught a really nice brown trout. The fishing here is really awesome, would highly recommend staying here just for the fishing.

Wow, thanks for taking so much time to leave a wonderful review. We are very fortunate to live where we do and really enjoy being able to share it with people so its really nice to hear you enjoyed your stay. One correction I would make is that we have over 700 (I am sure 70 feet is a typo) feet of river frontage. Thanks again, Fritz, Paula, Sadi and Kenai

This place is amazing!!!! The owners are beyond nice. My husband has a fear of water and I really wanted to kayak. They talked us through the whole process, and then went above and beyond to go with us. ( I think this is based on how busy they are) this was one of my top adventures. The ride was about 2hours. Cabins right on the river. They have hot tube, kayaking, and grills all included. Only thing depending on time of year, be prepared for mosquitoes. However the do provide bug spray. We will definitely be going back. Again just amazing owners and experience.

We stayed 4 nights this past week while skiing at Wolf Creek. Very comfortable cabins in a beautiful, tranquil setting. This is the perfect place to relax off the beaten path. The owners were super nice and accommodating. We will definitely return someday!

The cabin itself had excellent decor and was very comfortable, especially considering how cold it was outside. Fritz was a very nice person to deal with and was able to give us good information about the surrounding area. Be sure to ask him about lift tickets if you plan on skiing at Wolf Creek. The only suggestion I have would be to have a microwave alongside the existing mini-fridge.

Thanks for taking the time to do a great review, its vey appreciated. We have talked several times about adding a microwave but we have not figured out how to solve the space and power issues for that. Thanks again, Fritz and Paula

Beautiful and clean cabins by the river. Super quiet and inviting destination. Fritz and family were very accommodating and made us feel welcome while providing us with just the right amount of privacy. Wonderful place that makes for a great romantic weekend. Also a great area to explore from with lots of restaurants and attractions around.

What a joy to experience this beautiful enclave of hand-built cabins, steps from the Rio Grande river in South Fork, Colorado. Paula and Fritz went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. They are so welcoming, and love to share their favorite local spots as well as answering any questions about how they constructed their cabins. We chose to spend a day driving the amazing Silver Thread Scenic Byway after exploring the beginning of the Bachelor Loop in Creede, one day spent reading and relaxing by the river, and two days hiking various nearby trails. The property is perfectly situated for a quiet getaway, while still being minutes from outdoor adventures, lots of wildlife, and several restaurants. The town of Creede is only about an hour’s scenic drive and has a super Visitor’s Center, plenty of restaurants, a theater, and the start of the Bachelor Loop historic mining self-guided tour. We stayed in the charming Guest Cabin and were lulled to sleep by the sound of the river only 10 feet from our window. The cabin had a beautiful wooden sleigh bed, extremely comfortable with high-quality pillows and Egyptian cotton sheets; two leather armchairs great for relaxing and reading by the little gas stove; a mini fridge and coffee maker with creamers and coffee provided; plenty of closet space; a full bathroom with instant-on hot water, nice fixtures, and a hand-crafted tin mirror. There were lovely details everywhere, from the hand-carved colorful masks, to beautiful decorative textiles, and even small sculptures on the window ledges. There is a communal fire pit with views of the river, and a separate seating area with table and chiminea for the Guest Cabin. We enjoyed starting out one cool, crisp Autumn morning with a dip in the hot tub set on a deck surrounded by tall pines. If weather and schedules permit, there are also inflatable kayaks for guests. Paula and Fritz provide so many extras to ensure a fabulous stay--flip a light switch for twinkle lights on the outside eaves of each cabin, there is plenty of wood for the fire pit or chiminea, a hammock, tables and outside seating, even a rope swing on the property! If you're fortunate you might have the pleasure of playing with their pet dog Kenai and pet cat Lucky. We look forward to returning to Riverside Meadows Cabins and highly recommend this wonderful vacation property.
