Detailed Reviews
The Lazy Bear has a good thing going. Lodging is clean and practical for the mountain vacationer and with reasonable rates. The owner if I recall is Kent, who was kind to share ideas and options during our time in South Fork. I’ve had friends stay there based on recommendations and got good feedback on their stay. Plenty of room for my big trailer and truck. Wife says she felt safe staying there.

We recently stayed here with 6 grandsons on a "boy" trip. Kids enjoyed the area they could play ball in. A good central location for the various outings we did during the day. Appreciated the kitchen although it could have used a few more mixing bowls would have been appreciated. I did bring paper products so wasn't washing dishes all the time. Loved it had a recliner, besides a love seat and full size couch. Kids were outside playing, if they weren't eating or sleeping. Nice to have both charcoal and gas grills provided. Important for big families a very reasonable price!

Very nice ! Clean , well furnished, quiet. Full kitchen , 2 bedroom, and there is even a single bed in with a full bed in one of the rooms. Also a hide a bed ! Excellent value ! There are homes that aren’t this nice ! We have been several places over the past week, but this takes the cake !

My family has stayed here many times. We got accused of something that didn’t happen. Was notified by email after we left. Talked to the owners about it and asked if it was a mistake and they said oh no. Told them we won’t be back and she said “we have plenty of business so it doesn’t matter”. Needed less to say they hung the phone up on me. It’s sad that Kent is no longer around because he never treated his customers the way the new owners do. Do yourself a favor and when you consider Lazy Bear, don’t. This way you and your family can enjoy your vacation in the great place of South Fork Colorado!

Been staying at the Lazy Bear off and on since the 70's, when it was the Riviera. No problems at all. Very comfortable and clean as a whistle!!!! First time I stayed there was in 1972. with my late daddy so I have alot of fond memories of The Lazy Bear. Lots of fishing in the area as well as many trails to UTV on to see the beautiful scenery. Also, I rented a Jeep this past October, ran like a top in the high country till the snow go to deep, we turned around, lol. Many thanks to Scotty and Charlotte!!!! Thanks again from the good ole boy from Texas, Dave Bob!!!

These cabins offered the basic amenities but they are in need of some serious updates. The gas grills were unuseable and the showerhead was too low for even an average size person. On the plus side the location was good and the staff friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations and how well kept they are. Kent and Toby make good co-owners. Ella is a good addition to the cleaning staff. Between Kent and Ella the cabins are clean and well maintained. We felt nothing but welcomed the whole time we were there. Toby is good at his security job. He patrols the area.

Cabins are perfect for a get away. I thank the Lazy Bear Cabins enough. LBC is the complete opposite of my last cabin rental through Kabin Keeper - never again through Kabin Keeper

I discovered Lazy Bear cabins through my parents. They stayed in the cabins 4 weeks last summer and were very comfortable. So when I went to South Fork in 2015, I stayed at Lazy Bear for 8 nights. My review:
Pros:
-As the other reviewers have noted, the owner Kent is FABULOUS. He is a super nice man and his dog Toby is the official cabin greeter (how awesome is that!)
-The cabin was very cute and comfortable. We had 2 bedrooms: one with a queen size bed and the other room with 2 full size beds. There was a living room with a couch, 2 recliners and TV. The full kitchen with oven, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker was very handy.
-The cabins are basic wood cabins (this is not the Marriott hotel) but they are charming and CLEAN (clean is a big deal for me).
-Cabin price is very reasonable.
-Fresh towels are provided regularly.
-Convenient location on the highway in South Fork.
Other Considerations:
-Like other accommodations in South Fork there is no air conditioning in the cabin. I was initially worried about this due to the hot summer. But there are fans provided in the cabin. And with the windows open we were perfectly comfortable.
-There is wifi at the cabins but access is inconsistent. Therefore if you have an important work or school project to complete while at the cabins, you need to have an alternative plan for Internet access (like going to the nearby library; the South Fork library is very nice).

Very clean, well equipped cabins for very reasonable prices. Dog friendly. Kitchen is simple and small but has everything you need. You can also borrow a slow cooker if you want one. We were there on some very cold days, the cabin stayed warm. However the floor can feel a bit cold so bring warm socks or slippers. The bedding is very nice with quilted bed covers and the beds are very comfortable.
