Viceroy Snowmass is the crown jewel of Snowmass Village, Colorado. Designed by Jean-Michel-Gathy of Denniston International, the resort is environmentally conscious through responsible choices of finishes and materials and is a community leader in green operations and guest service offerings. Recently named the #1 Resort Hotel in Colorado in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2021, the resort offers guests the perfect balance of relaxation and exhilaration. It starts in the lounge, where skiers coast in and out as the snow falls and fire roars during the winter season. It carries through to the restaurant, where the flavors of Colorado high country make you feel right at home. It comes to life in the spa, where you can escape and unwind after a day of skiing, snowboarding, biking, or hiking. With every elevated experience, at any time of year, there’s a certain euphoria in knowing what’s just outside: the cinematic, snow-capped mountains of Snowmass Village.

Viceroy Snowmass is often celebrated for its comprehensive amenities and lively atmosphere, complete with live music and chic lounges, which many guests find relaxing. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some travelers feeling the hotel's services are overpriced.
The rooms and grounds usually impress with their cleanliness, although there have been mentions of sporadic lapses. While service quality varies widely, from highly attentive to disappointingly negligent, guests agree that the location's picturesque scenery is a highlight despite other shortcomings.

Detailed Reviews
We love the great staff and upscale facilities at this property. The location is right on Assay Hill ski run so it truly ski in and ski out. The Viceroy's slope side ski valet will hold your skis the moment you take them off so they are ready for you the next day. The boot room has padded benches and valets that will store your bots and even help you get them off and on. The ski shop in the hotel is a great for getting fresh wax or tunes on your equipment too! Restaurant Toro is world class and serves sushi all night long. Casamigos Tequila shots and California rolls any time day or night delivered right to your room or enjoyed in a table with slope side views. The rooms have high end Bosch washer and dryers and SubZero refrigerators and Wolf cook tops too! Located at the new Base Village area so there are lots more restaurant and ski lift options right in the neighborhood.

Having stayed at this location many times, I was extremely impressed with all of the adjustments the property made to ensure guests are pampered but in a safe and distanced manner, while not jeopardizing the overall experience you get in Snowmass. They employees did a fantastic job including wearing masks, practicing and promotion social distancing, and cleaning the areas in my car that were touched by the valet each time. Another amazing weekend at the Viceroy in Snowmass!

Just finished a great stay at the Viceroy.
Location was great for Snowmass ski resort- when Assay hill lift is closed they have a shuttle to take you directly to the Elk Camp Gondola. Additionally, there is a Four Mountain Sports located in the hotel making it easy to pick up any rental equipment (and the ski valets take care of everything from that point).
The rooms are nice and spacious (we had the one bedroom suite), and had a small, but functional, kitchenette and a washer and dryer (I believe only the one bedroom suites and larger have a washer and dryer).
Breakfast in Toro was good- although if you like espresso based drinks I’d recommend skipping ordering one at breakfast and picking one up from the cafe in the lobby where they were much better tasting.
The staff were all very friendly, and every morning they remembered which skis were ours (although this may have been a function of it being early season). An extra shout out to Nate at the valet desk who always went above and beyond.

We just returned home from an amazing week at Viceroy Snomass. We could not have asked for a better vacation, especially during this crazy time. The Viceroy Snowmass has taken every precaution to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its guests, while still offering all of the luxurious amenities that let you get away from it all for a while. Max, the manager, was amazing at making us feel welcome and taking care of our every need as if it were no trouble at all. The valets were so quick to bring our car whenever we were ready and even wiped down every contact point each time we got in. We are especially grateful to Scott who gave us some great hiking tips. Finally, the housekeeping staff was absolutely wonderful making sure our room was kept exceptionally clean and so well stocked. We had such a wonderful time at the Viceroy last week. We will definitely return!

My wife and I always wanted to travel to Aspen and looked at a few different options in both Aspen and Snowmass. From the reviews and pictures we decided on Viceroy. What a great choice!! The hotel was not only beautiful but all the staff were so friendly and wanting to help. I would like to say thank you to Max at the receptionist desk. He was always willing to help point out a good place to eat, hike or get directions.
The rooms are very modern and have all the amenities you need from the large TV, convection microwave to the well designed bathrooms.
They are also dog friendly and a few of the employees bring there dogs to work as well so makes the hotel feel more at home.
If you are looking to travel to Snowmass or Aspen we would put this hotel on the top of the list!!!

After 14 hours of exhausting travel and despite arriving after the stated check in time of 4pm, we were told upon arrival that our room would not be ready for another 2 hours. When we complained to the ‘20 something’ assistant manager, Sharon, about this, she was unsympathetic and brushed it off stating that the previous guest extended their stay until 4pm and that housekeeping had not had a chance to clean the room. I asked her to prorate that days room charge since we were not granted a full days use of the room. After a much-heated argument and an initial offer of bar food and drinks, she said the best she could do is $150 off of the room rate—at $3000/night that doesn’t even equal the tax on the room! The general manager, Robert Purdy, left his card in our room, so I naively emailed him about this thinking he would reply—he did not. Finally, at the time of check out, one of the other managers, after hearing our ordeal, graciously offered to prorate the first night’s room charge by $500 which we were agreeable to. All in all, though we received some compensation for the late check in, the inconsistency within the management staff is an area which needs improvement.
As for the rooms, as others have mentioned, they are average with bland office-like décors and lack any kind of charm or ambience. Worse, many of them face the front of the hotel where service vehicles and guests check in so its noisy all day long and into the night. There is a real echo effect there so you hear the clickity clack of rolling luggage and the conversations of the workmen and guests very easily. We also did not see any service elevators so with just two elevators, we were frequently accompanied by house keeping with their buckets and wet mops or bellman with full luggage carts.
Another area which needs attention is the outdoor hot tub facility. It is too small for the number of guests at the hotel and is not kept clean by housekeeping so plastic cups frequently blow into the hot tub and litter accumulates around the perimeter. I don’t ever remember seeing a pool attendant clean that area up during the 1 week we were there.
On the plus side, the location is excellent with easy ski in/ski out and the ski valets, parking valets and housekeeping do a very good job. At $3000/night, however, they need to do much much more. I will not be returning.

We stayed at the hotel over President's Day week. The location and 2 bed / 2 bath residence were exceptional. However, the service was not great at this hotel. It did not seem like they had enough housecleaning people. We could never get our room cleaned when we wanted it and our check-in was delayed way beyond our expectations after traveling all day. From a value perspective I think the price was about right for that premium travel week. We thought the food in the restaurant was very average and the room service food was below average. As I think about other hotels of this quality where we have spent this much money in the past I would put our complete experience in the bottom quartile.

I could live in the room it was so big and equipped with everything you might need from washer and dryer to a kitchenette. I loved the view, the fireplace, and the huge modern bathroom. The bed and bathroom was very clean and I was told they let it rest 24 hours between guests which was comforting during Covid.. The only friendly person was the young fellow that checked me in. He was very kind and accommodating. Restaurant employees and valet parking which you pay for whether you valet park or not were not so friendly. It seemed like they were sick of their job and a we were a hassle to their day.

The resort is attractive and our one bedroom was comfortable except for the huge construction project across the street. Rooms that face up canyon have to deal with the noise starting at 7 in the morning and lasting late in the day. Forget about enjoying your balcony during the day. I'd wager the rooms facing down canyon don't hear as much noise so you should request those rooms.
You must valet park and they charge $50 per day for that. The "resort fee" is also $50 plus tax and obviously does not include parking.
The on site restaurant, Toro, is a staffing nightmare (read my separate review). The only other on site place to eat is the Nest, at the pool.
This Viceroy welcomes dogs and many of the guests and part time residents have one or more. We like dogs so it is not an issue for us but it may be for some.

We stayed for a couple of nights and really loved our stay.
The room (517) was beautifully decorated, newly renovated, very spacious and very clean.
We tried the Toro restaurant as well but I personally like the menu selection in the winter better than their summer menu. They did a GREAT job with social distancing in the restaurant though!
We felt welcome and very safe during our stay.
Only one small thought, I only saw one hand sanitizer on the doorframe to the restaurant and one in the lobby.
I wish there were more throughout the property. For example one on each floor, when you enter or exit the elevators.
The more hand sanitizers around, the more people would use them.

I also have no idea and the desk clerk couldn't answer it either. This establishment is very much in it for the bucks and it appears the guests are a necessary pain to them.
We just spent 5 days there for the fall colors and left this morning. Impacts include the following:
Limits on number of people in pool and hot tubs.
Checkin times are later due to staffing levels.
Poor service in the pool area due to staffing levels.
Valet service is amazing!!!
Pool was nice, and a hot tub, same Resort fee
