Recommended by the New York Times, the Guardian newspaper of London, and others. Silverton's Inn of the Rockies at the Historic Alma House is the absolute best value in luxury accommodations you will find anywhere in the Colorado Rockies. We offer feather beds, wi-fi, a large outdoor hot tub, a full served breakfast, personal attention and gracious hospitality, all within the historic home Bridget Hughes' built 115 years ago. While you may book online at various sites, we would prefer to hear from you personally as well to insure a relaxed and peaceful visit.

The property is beautiful and the history is fantastic, but what really makes this place special are the people. Whenever we talk about our stay here, we talk about how we stayed at our good friends Betty and Albert's place. Right when you walk in the door you feel right at home and the food is amazing. Muffins and coffee at your door when you wake up and a wonderful breakfast beautifully prepared. This was one of the top highlights of our trip.

Words cannot describe this place. You really need to be there to understand how magical it is. You'll never meet Innkeepers as friendly and wellcoming as Albert and Elisabeth. And if you are looking for a peaceful, interesting and fun place to stay with an AMAZING breakfast i cannot recomend a better place. My only regret is to not have stayed longer.

My wife, daughter and I booked 2 nights at the inn and wished we had a week there! Betty and Albert were nothing short of incredible inn keepers. They were wonderful, pleasant hosts, offering suggestions for dining and things to do. Breakfasts were nothing short of spectacular, some of the best we've ever experienced. If you're lucky, Albert will recite some of his poetry as he's a published author. Looking forward to our return! Joe Y

We splurged for a night at the Alma House on the final leg of a SW Colorado road trip and enjoyed the luxury immensely. The century-old house, built of thick, sturdy stone, stands at the edge of Silverton's once-notorious, ramshackle red-light district, and offers the classiest lodgings in town. We lodged in the only ground-floor room, a delightfully expansive space with an enormous king bed, fireplace sitting area, and separate bathroom -- an ideal place to retreat to after the streets rolled up. Betty is a marvelous innkeeper, bubbly and gregarious with a wealth of Silverton anecdotes (including tales of the ghosts said to inhabit certain rooms), and her husband Albert is a whiz of a breakfast chef, whipping up tasty, custom-made combinations of bite-sized waffles or French toast, fruit, eggs and salads. He also knows where to pint visiting shutterbugs to unusual, off-the-beaten-track vistas. We can't be back soon enough!
