We booked a brief, but enchanting, Monday night stay at Alma House for my partner's birthday. What we expected was relaxation in a beautiful, historic boarding house, but what we received was beyond our greatest expectations. We were greeted by Innkeeper Betty on arrival, who showed us to our incredible room, The Caboose, and other accommodations. Innkeepers Betty and Albert have taken meticulous care of building, and the love they possess for their work shows. They have also taken impressive sanitation measures in light of the pandemic: Hand sanitizers are available in each room of the impeccably clean common areas, as well as inside of our bedroom; a UV-sanitation chamber is available at the front door for any personal items, and the rooms are further sanitized with a UV wand (they provide a comprehensive list of their safety precautions); and masks are enforced. The Inn is conveniently located within proximity to restaurants, bars, and attractions. In the afternoon, we explored the town, and returned in the evening to enjoy a soak in the hot tub. In the morning, we found two of Albert's most delightful lemon muffins lightly dusted with sugar with a pot a coffee waiting at our door, which we enjoyed in bed before getting dressed for breakfast. Albert took extra care to prepare a beautiful birthday breakfast for my partner. Once we were served, Albert, a cowboy poet and writer, asked if he might recite a poem for us, which we eagerly obliged. He sat to the side and recited a touching and original ballad about a young woman who followed her heart Westward to a perilous, but genuine life, and gifted my partner a signed copy of his poetry book. After breakfast, we enjoyed the Betty and Albert's company for over two magical hours, during which we chatted, and they shared their fascinating stories and life experiences with us. We were fortunate to enjoy a quiet weeknight stay, away from the weekend bustle, to enjoy a slow morning and connect with the two enchanting individuals. We're grateful for the gracious hospitality and new friendship.…
Where to begin. From the moment we walked into the door we were greeting by the most welcoming innkeepers I have ever met. We arrived a day early but Betty had already prepared our room and was super flexible. The space itself is very cute and quaint. Betty does an incredible job walking you through the history of the building. After showing us to our rooms she graciously informed us of everything else we needed to know for our stay. The biggest standout of the entire stay is hands down Albert's breakfast. Not only is it extraordinarily delicious, but it is also the most energizing and well balanced meal I have ever had before a day of skiing. We did a heli day at Silverton and by 4PM, with no lunch, I was not hungry in the slightest. Albert has it down to a delicious science. I mean, I literally cannot stop raving about it. Then there is the hot tub, the perfect way to end the day, tucked away in the backyard under a gazebo. It's a great atmosphere. For anyone who is traveling to SIlverton there is no other place that I would choose to stay. I loved this place so much that if the dates were not available to stay there I would amend my trip to be able to! Thank you again Albert and Betty, I will surely be back soon!…
We visited Silverton to ski at Silverton Mountain for our anniversary. We have done this trip before, but this is the first time we have stayed at the Alma House. We were so well taken care of by Betty and Albert! They made sure our anniversary trip was a memorable one and went above and beyond during our trip, including booking the hot tub for us and making us the most delicious hot cocoa after skiing. The room and small hotel was very comfortable and accommodating and very close to everything. Albert cooks a delicious breakfast every morning as well as small baked treats and coffee served first by your room. We would highly recommend the Alma House for a stay in Silverton, especially if you are planning a special trip such as an anniversary or big birthday. We will be back!
We had a wonderful stay at the historic Alma House. Betty and Albert are great hosts. Betty turned on the fireplace in our room one hour before we got there so we could settle into a warm and cozy room. The breakfast in the morning is one of the best! A great variety of breakfast foods... each with an amazing attention to details and beautiful presentation. During Covid times we decided to do dinner as a take-out. They let us use their beautiful dining area (with sanitized cutlery) and even heated up our left over food for the second night. I can't say enough praise for their hospitality and care.
Memorable experience for our 3rd wedding anniversary because of the personal touches of the Inn's managers: Albert & Betty. We stayed in the room that occupies the entire 3rd floor. When we awoke at 6 a.m. we had a pot of coffee, pitcher of ice tea (Betty knew this was my favorite drink), and a plate of pastries waiting outside our door. Great start to our day. We learned Albert is a chef, and he prepared a breakfast that rivals any 5-star restaurant. To make our stay truly an experience, Albert recited from memory poetry he wrote, as we dined. Both my wife and I were memorized with Albert's recital, with passion. Albert also entertained us with many stories about the history of the Inn. Upon leaving, Albert also presented us with a signed copy of his published "Western" poetry book, "WILDORADO - Just Another Legend." We were touched by all the personal touches of both Albert & Betty. The town itself is stunning in the fall. We did an early morning run throughout the town and were memorized by the stunning Aspen trees that were displaying colors of bright yellow. A wonderful experience provided by a very caring and unique couple. Thanks Albert and Betty for making our stay with you memorable. We look forward to one day again hearing Albert recite a few more of his personal poetry writings. Scott & Jill - Celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary at a special Inn.…
