The view and room size were lovely. But many small, aggravating problems that should not occur on vacation frustrated us and greatly reduced our enjoyment of 5 days here. And, this place was pricey. The mattress was saggy. Pillows did not give adequate neck support. The sheets were too large for the mattress and bunched up under our bodies at night causing us poor sleep. A plumbing fix was needed to get the disengaged stopper out of the drain. Food at breakfast in town had cold toast and tepid food. When it rained water poured through the air conditioner, flooding all the items on our bedside table. The next to last day the shower head went berserk and we had to jam something in it to get the water on us and not on the ceiling and wall! The staff was friendly and tried very hard to remedy problems. But, someone needs to be proactive to eliminate problems BEFORE guests arrive.

For our 5 year wedding anniversary it was a priority for me to find a place off the water, that would yield beautiful views and a relaxing environment fit for the occasion. It was everything and more. The Bayfront Marin B&B was gorgeous just by looking at the pictures, but it didn't offer as much privacy as we had wanted! However, through their website I was pleasantly surprised to see that they also offered beach cottages rentals (called beachcombers) right off of Vilano Beach (about a 7-10 minute drive to the Bayfront Marin). This is where we ultimately booked our stay. We rented the Royal Palm Suite and were completely amazed by the beauty of the beach as soon as we walked into the room! It nearly brought me to tears! The entire Royal Palm suite is lined with windows and you can see out as far as the eye can see. You can see storms coming in, and the sun rising. You are RIGHT there on the water, and within a 20 foot walk you are at the shoreline. The waves crashing are all you hear. When we rented the Royal Palm Suite, we didn't realize we could still participate in the breakfast or happy hour at the Bayfront Marin Bed and Breakfast offered (located in the heart of St. Augustine!!) YOU CAN!! You can opt out and have a basket with homemade goodies brought to your door....but WHY? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? THIS PLACE'S BREAKFAST was to die for. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive. Mary, the cook and the heart of that kitchen, has a spitfire personality, and between her cooking skills and sass you just want to take her home with you. She was more than willing to hand out the recipes for the TWO BEST breakfasts I HAVE ever had, EVER. The owners are incredible and the woman (who I unfortunately cannot remember her name!!) was amazing too! Her story on how they started the business, and what it means to her and the love she puts into everything they do (including the gardening which is so beautifully done) is just one of so many reasons why the beachcomber cottage, and the Bayfront Marin B&B were major highlights for our weekend away. I am so moved by the hospitality and love that you feel coming to this place. Eating outside gives the most incredible view with breeze, the staff from owner, to cook, to wait staff all just put their all into everything. It feels like home. Thank you all for such an incredible, relaxing, weekend away. We love it all. A memory we won't soon forget. P.S the only downfall (which was more humorous than anything) was that we didn't realize until late the first day that with the Royal Palm Suite being the center of the beach, you are in clear view of whoever is on that beach - ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT....whoops!

Three family members came down from NJ to spend a week with my wife and I. To make the trip more exciting we decided to spend two nights in St. Augustine (we live on the west coast). My wife and I are familiar with all the Bayfront properties so when our guests said they were looking for a full beach day we felt the Royal Palms and the Dunes, which are located at the beach, would be perfect. The two suites have an adjoining door which made it perfect for our needs. The staff was very helpful as usual, making us feel right at home. My wife and I have always had a great time at any of the Bayfront properties and this was no different. As my wife and I expected it was an excellent stay and the highlight of our families vacation! Everybody loved it!

We had a lovely stay in the Dunes Suite this weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed the beachfront property, happy hour at the Inn, and the hospitality of all the staff and the owner! The suite had a great view, was comfortable and clean, and had all the necessities. It's a short drive to downtown St. Augustine, so we really got to enjoy the best of both a beautiful, uncrowded beach and the historic town. We will stay there again!

We recently spent three nights in the Lagoon Cottage. We really wanted to like this place. Walking to a beautiful beach, having our own kitchen for a few days, free parking in St. Augustine... The location is great for the beach... literally at the end of the street, which is only four houses long. The beach is a GREAT one, too. This however, is where the review starts a downturn. Let me say, first of all, that I understand how ocean front properties take a beating from mother nature, I get it. For this, I can somewhat excuse the tired looking exterior. As for the inside, I have less patience. Upon entering, you are greeted by dingy and stained carpeting on the stairs. These lead up to a living/dining/kitchen area which has definitely seen better days. The couch... maybe bring a sheet to throw over it. In the kitchen, there is a dishwasher! It makes all the right noises... but doesn't clean your dishes. We had a group of four (we were on the main living floor, with one child in each of the upstairs bedrooms). After our first night, we came back the next day to only the master having been remade. On day two, the master and one of the other beds were done. The floors were never vacuumed, the dining table never even wiped down. For the first two days, the showers barely drained, so you would shower in ankle deep water. This was remedied after we left a note for the staff. Look, as I said, I get that its the beach, things are more relaxed, etc. But I am paying for a place, I expect that it be clean and functioning, that's should be given, and good business practice. The ladies who clean the cottages are very nice, but have eight places to clean and only four hours, I get that too. Maybe management should up their game a bit. Maybe they take better care of the rooms at the main inn. Maybe they just expect theirs clients to be one timers, so they don't worry about repeat business. Whatever they are choosing to do, I know that I will be choosing not to return.
