Nice, clean and pleasant place run by a hard working couple. The place is spacious, with plenty of parking and very convenient for local hikes and other activities. The rooms were clean and some have mountain views. Beats any chain motel.
We checked in very late and received a room right beside the breakfast area (understandable due to our late check in). So anytime you open your door Bob and Fred are drinking coffee looking into your room.... you get the picture. The room is clean and the sink area is very well done. Bravo to the carpenter/plumber that put it in. We paid $170 to stay here for the night. This was more expensive than 2 hotels in the Denver area that are much newer. Our stay here was purely for logistics as it was on our route. If I were in town for a longer stay this wouldn't be where I stayed at. The lobby area is really well decorated it was very cool. Do Not get your hopes up for the breakfast or coffee either.
I feel like I hit the lottery with this hotel. I don't normally bother writing reviews for small hotels that I just spend one night in as I'm moving through, but I feel like this one deserves it. It's a small hotel (30-ish rooms) with a campy lobby decor that really leans into the mountain / western theme: lots of bare pine, animal pictures / hides, etc. We arrived at almost dark in heavy rain so were just happy to get dried off and out to dinner. It wasn't until the next day I realized just how much effort the owners put into this place. Our room had a hand painted mural on the wall and decorative etching on some of the furniture. Walking around the outside the next morning, I was amazed at how much work someone put into landscaping and planting flowers. There were planters and flowers filled every few feet all around the building. It dawned on me - it wasn't just someone's business, it was a labor of love and something they took a lot of pride in. When you see things like this, you know that you are staying somewhere that will take care of any issues that arise. True, the rooms are relatively basic - but clean and comfortable. Coffee and grab and go breakfast was nice as well. I assume pre-covid the staff cooked up even better food. Would absolutely stay here again without hesitation.…
We stayed 3 nights and loved the room, property and staff. Very clean room with very nice touches such as hand paintings in the room. Beds were soft and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.
On our way to Aspen, we decided to spend the night in Salida....this is a GREAT town and has alot to offer. We chose Browns Canyon inn based on the reviews posted here and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED...this is a small motel but it is extremely clean and looks like it was recently renovated in the past few years. Definitely recommend staying at this motel if you are in the area.
