Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for a quick trip to Salida (from Missouri). What a gem! Small hotel with a 'lodge' vibe. Clean, comfortable bed, rain shower with excellent water pressure. Nice continental breakfast (toast , bagels, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal) with breakfast sandwiches that can be microwaved in room. Lots of coffee, with option of a real mug ( this is nice for those of us who dislike paper cups). Owner was very accommodating. We were on backside ( front side faces road) and heard no traffic. Only negative -could hear other guests moving between rooms, talking loudly. This was a large multi-room family -but they settled down at a reasonable hour and I heard no noise throughout night. Highly recommend!

This inn is a wonderful family owned gem in Salida, CO. It is spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished, and focused on the comfort of each one of their guests. Lots of little touches make the your stay especially comfortable; a table so you can play cards if you want to, an extra shelf at the sink for your toiletries, and small refrigerator/freezer. The couple who run it are gracious and welcoming. There is a lovely mountain view from the window. And - it is reasonably priced.

We were greeted by a clean, fresh smell when first opening the door to our room. That's always a good start. The room was clean, nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable. The large screen TV was state of the art.
Brown's Canyon is locally owned and very convenient to F Street which is the heart of downtown Salida. The only downside was no in room coffee service. But the serving bar was around the corner from our room and offered real coffee cups.
There was a barking dog in a room that yapped at 6:30 am, but was quickly silenced. The rooms are subject to a lot of "running water" noise as it's an older facility when soundproofing was an after thought.
We would stay here again.

We had to make an emergency stop in Salida because of a snowstorm and stayed at the Browns Canyon Inn. It has really nice rooms and some fun western, decor. We slept well here. For the price it's a very good option. Only two things kept me from giving it 5 stars: the morning breakfast is just pastries/bread and coffee and there is very little room. Also they give you a tiny amount of soap and shampoo. Not even close to enough for multiple people.

This is a wonderful locally owned motel and the owner was on site and gave excellent tips on things to do and places to eat. Our room was very clean with comfortable beds. Our room was nice and quiet. The lobby and grounds around the motel are decorated with western accents. The owner recommended Robins as a good place to have breakfast and he was 100% accurate; we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of omelettes and coffee at Robins just down the road a couple of miles. Salida is a very picturesque town with a beautiful park beside the Arkansas River. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Salida is a beautiful town.

A very nice alternative to the chain hotels that surround this family owned hotel. Don’t let the box-like exterior dissuade you. Whole hotel has been recently updated; common spaces decorated in an old-world style. Highly recommend that one get a “Mountain View” room as the route 50 facing rooms get a lot of highway noise.

This is literally a Mom and Pop, family run hotel that does everything right. It’s clean, safe, friendly and efficient. Starbucks coffee at the inclusive breakfast bar, along with several breakfast options including burritos, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, cereal and juice.
Comfortable beds, a fridge and updated bathrooms. There’s a hot tub that works and is regularly maintained, with a secure parking lot and pleasant landscaping.
Mark, the owner is on hand most of the time to chat or assist in any way. We rarely give 5 stars but this place is worthy!

This is a fantastic hotel! We loved supporting an independent owner. The staff was pleasant and helpful, there are great hiking trails within 5 mi, the rooms were simple but cleaner than many chain hotels. We will return.

We were very pleased with our room and the very friendly staff. We had not alerted them to the fact that we needed a first floor room because of difficulty on steps for my husband but we were immediately accommodated with a new location for our room. Located on highway 50 with many other hotels, this was a great location for easy access to town and for getting back on 285. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is a lovely independent hotel. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was continental, but included breakfast sandwiches and burritos, fresh fruit, and muffins. Oatmeal and toppings were also available. It was quiet and the beds were comfortable. It has a western theme in the lobby. It was a great stay especially for the price.
