Our stay at the Amigo motor lodge was amazing. We stayed in the Merle airstream and it was amazing. Favorite part was the heat/ac unit in the airstream that worked wonderfully! We were really concerned that we were going to be super cold and even brought heated blankets but they were completely not necessary. I also imagine it would work very well in warm weather for cooling. The communal bathrooms were also very nice, we were expecting something kind of hostile but they were completely different. Each bathroom was very large with its own shower, toilet, and sink and they were very clean and well stocked. We will definitely be staying here again!

Thank you so much for the shining review! We're so glad to hear Merle was warm and comfortable throughout your stay! The air streams can be tricky through the winter but our heating/AC units work well to keep all of our trailer guests comfortable. We look forward to hosting you again!

Our family of four with teens stopped through and stayed in Salida during a 10 day road trip. We rented a double queen room decided last minute to add an airstream for fun. My husband and I ended up staying in airstream and let kids take the room as was so comfy! Check in was easy and the staff was friendly and flexible letting us switch rooms to be closer to the airstream. Recommend this place!

I found the Amigo Motor Lodge online and the idea of an upscale retro motor lodge (aka roadside motel in the 1950s) sounded like a grand adventure while road-tripping with my husband through Utah and Colorado. From the Smeg frig in the lobby to the vintage “real” door key this place was filled with cool vibes. Our bed was wonderful and we had the most restful night of our trip. We left the wall AC unit running all night and it was like soothing white noise rather than being distracting. Either because of the AC running or our location at the rear of the property we never heard a sound from the nearby highway nor our neighbors who were staying in one of the several Airstream trailers. There are about 15 rooms like ours and about 7 Airstreams. I would love to stay in one of the trailers but I believe they share bathroom facilities in the “bath house” which actually looks more private than it sounds. There are lovely, interesting places outside such as a beautifully painted container serving as a background for hammocks, fire pit, chairs, and a hot tub which makes for fun encounters with other guests. The young man on duty was pleasant and very helpful with any request. My husband and I are in our 70s, retired, and travel frequently. We always stay in Marriott and Hilton properties and an occasional Four Seasons so this was a stretch for me to commit to a motor lodge sight unseen but we loved it and would stay there again if ever in the area again. I only have two less than perfect comments. They need to invest in better towels and leave more for their guests. I had to request more. The other is their policy of not opening the lobby until 7:30 am for coffee and pastries. I doubt my husband and I are the only people who need coffee no later than 6 am to be able to function. There was a note in our room saying they could give us some instant coffee for us to fix if we wanted any before 7:30. We don’t do instant coffee. Amigo Motor Lodge might need to get onboard and get going earlier in the mornings like the other lodging properties in Salida, Colorado. Fortunately there was a Patio Pancake Place just down the road which was open early. I might add this place is very inexpensive for how very nice it is. Amigo Motor Lodge was one of the most enjoyable parts of our road trip.

Thanks so much for your helpful feedback and detailed review! The airstreams do in fact share a bathroom area which has two separate lockable rooms with a sink, toilet, and shower so privacy can still be maintained. We are so glad you took a chance on us and hope you visit again!

After doing lots of family road trips, we have learned the importance of finding a quality place that strikes the right balance between affordability and comfort/quality - and ideally doesn’t feel too much like just another place you go for a work conference. Amigo not only strikes this balance but exceeds all expectations. It is nicely located just west of the main section of Salida but within walking distance of some cool spots. It offers a non-chain vibe with high-quality, cozy gathering spaces, clean and quiet rooms and beds that were super comfortable. Staff members we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and I found myself wishing we could spend more than three nights in this lovely spot. I highly recommend this for families or couples looking for a cozy, independent spot to stay while visiting the Salida area any time of year!

The hotel is very instagrammable however they could have done a better job thoroughly cleaning my room, especially the bathroom. The toilet rim had not been cleaned, the shower had hairs in it and the tub was questionable. There was a weird stain on the blanket at the end of the bed that was quite obvious upon entry to the room.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. We stayed in one of the trailers and unfortunately, the heating unit either didn't work or couldn't work efficiently enough to heat the trailer. There was essentially no heat in the trailer for most of the weekend. It was so cold inside that our damp swimsuits froze over night, snow tracked in didn't melt, and our food froze.

The description of the trailers online says they are perfect for all seasons and have high power AC and Heat (see photos). When we called the front desk, we were first told we didn't know how to use the heater (we did). When we called back, we were quite angry but the staff member's response was along the lines of, we should have expected there to be no heat because of an asterisk on the website (there is none) and the cold temperatures were very unusual for the area (they were typical winter temperatures). We requested a refund, were granted it, but unfortunately couldn't find anywhere else to stay. We stayed the remainder of our stay and when we asked for additional blankets, we were given a twin sized blanket for two people staying in a king bed. The staff's response did not suggest they had any interest in helping us and ultimately, we were mislead due to their own website. If it were advertised as expensive glamping, I would have expected that and not booked.

Overall, this is a horrible case of incorrect advertising and resulted in us freezing in a trailer and arguing with the staff. I truly wish we could have stayed somewhere else. I anticipate an argument from the staff (see other negative, honest reviews) but, this is just not what advertised and yes, we were angry. We were freezing and receiving no help from any staff.

TLDR: don't bother staying here in the winter or if it is too cold to camp.

This guest was fairly impossible to deal with: apparently not reading the email we send immediately after booking describing what staying in one of our trailers is like (hint: it's 'glamping'), refusing to use the space heater in the unit, saying they were leaving and then not leaving, not understanding that when it's a very unseasonably -15 degrees out it's going to be fairly cold when staying in a 60 year old aluminum trailer, verbally berating staff who were trying to help, not remembering their outbursts the next day, being offered a full refund (even though they had stayed in the room a night with no issues) only to stay another night, suggest that we re-charge their card....and then they dispute the payment! Luckily for for everyone involved, it doesn't sound like they will be staying with us again.

First of all this place is amazing all around. Not a single complaint. By far the cleanest stay away from home I’ve experienced. The staff is freakin incredible, super attentive and helpful, quick, SO KIND, and they all go out of their way at the drop of a hat to be as helpful as possible! The bathrooms are amazing, stocked with everything, and again, so clean. Place is super affordable and really exceeded all my expectations.
My son and I were on a week long camping trip that got rained out so we stumbled upon this place and ended up in one of their airstreams for the night. It was quite with amazing views, a HOT TUB (that was also clean) and an indoor/outdoor fireplace experience so we could still roast marshmallows. 10/10. Will absolutely be staying here on our next trip to Salida!

Amigo Motor Lodge is a hipster's paradise. This 1950s motel has been lovingly restored to its former mid-century modern glory, but with today's amenities such as A/C and WiFi. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean with beautiful mid-mod decor. They offer nice design touches like humorous information cards, artesian soaps and shampoos in the room, mini metal coolers for your room and well-landscaped grounds. The service is lovely, and there is a great hot tub, communal areas outdoors and the vintage airstreams are adorable. The owners compiled a nice brochure listing their favorite shops, restaurants, coffee and activity recommendations. All in all, a really fun, nostalgic place to stay. Highly recommend.

My daughter (14) and I had the privilege of staying at the Amigo Motor lodge towards the backside of our 12 day road trip. It was a welcomed reprieve from the larger chain hotels we had stayed at. This little lodge has been reimagined into something delightful. The staff was super friendly, there weren't a ton of people staying there while we were there but the ease of check in, backing up the car and unloading was auhmazing. The common area lobby was decked out with plenty of places to lounge including in some swinging chairs, and has the coolest old Scandinavian fireplace for those cold winter nights (not for the 80* we were in). The rooms are super simple which I loved with a small retro fridge & tiny freezer space (which I loved for my ice packs :) and the lighting, fans were purposed somewhat like how you'd showcase the art. The best part was the row of airstream trailers you can also stay in should you be able to secure. There is also a large Jacuzzi, which you will have to open and close upon leaving but it was under a large covered trellis and offered up some decent privacy. Mature landscaping, ice machine, water/tea/coffee in lobby. Super clean spot, affordable and I would totally recommend this place to anyone! Not too far from downtown Salida which is not to miss either. Amica Pizza was super yummy!

This motel was conveniently located and each room is decorated in a fun vintage motif. The staff is friendly and helpful and the bottles of cold water offered on arrival was a nice touch. I would have liked more attention paid to cleaning the nooks and crannies (e.g windowsills, and the vent) but I was mostly satisfied with the level of cleanliness.

The room I was in did not have an accessible bathtub/shower. The sink was accessible, but I don't know if there is sufficient turning radius. I'd give the owners a call - they may have other rooms more accessible than the one I was in.
