Location is key! About a 5 minute drive from Orvis Hot Springs and right at the traffic light, the lodge is an excellent stop if you are heading to Ouray or Telluride. We stayed for one night (after camping for 3 nights in various parks) and this place hit the spot! Service was excellent (thank you to Shelly & Adam for being so kind!) Beds were comfy, showers were hot and everything felt clean. All the staff wore masks and have seemed to adapt really well to the new restrictions of COVID-19.
We grabbed dinner at the Star Saloon and enjoyed simple pizza, wings & a cold beer. Yum! Sat out on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful view of the mountains! Breakfast burritos & coffee were included in our stay. Upon leaving, we were able to grab ice & refill our water bottles from a clean, no contact filter station. Highly recommend and I know we'll be back!

This was our first visit and I would stay here again to explore the Ouray/Telluride area. This is not a fancy place, but it is well kept, very clean and it feels very safe during COVID times. They offer free burrito/coffee for breakfast and have a nice little bar area where I saw people eating pizza and wings at the end of the day. The staff is very welcoming and all were wearing masks at least most of the time. Our room was clean and comfortable and there was a microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Perhaps a little pricey.

We have stayed here once before and I would stay here again to explore the Ouray/Telluride area. This is not a fancy place, but it is well kept, very clean and it feels very safe during Covid times. They offer free burrito/coffee breakfast and gave a nice little bar area with really good pizza and wings after a day of travel. The staff is very welcoming. We will stay here again when we go down to that area of our state.

Room was scrupulously clean! Staff was friendly — we were offered early check in after explaining we’d travelled from Florida and had been up since 4 am EST! Location is great for exploring area and rooms that face highway have fantastic Mountain View (albeit nosier). There is a dollar store nearby to grab light snacks (highly recommended as grocery stores in Ouray, Telluride and Silverton are VERY pricey). Yes furnishings are dated but they are in perfect shape and the room was meticulously clean. Bed comfy. Lots of hot water in clean shower! Towels were newer and fluffy. There’s a fridge and microwave. It’s unrealistic to expect the Ritz at this price. We loved the place and we’ll be back.

I asked the owner to clean our room, which was left with dirty towels and an unmade bed from our stay the day before. He asked how long we would be staying. We told him we'd be leaving in two more days. He said he could leave us clean towels tomorrow! I explained we wanted to take showers that night and be sure we had some towels. We came back to the room and it was still unmade, dirty towels in a corner of the floor in the bathroom, and two clean towels left for us. The next morning I told the person at the front desk I really wanted the room cleaned and new towels. We came back that night to an unmade room and no clean towels. Old towels still on the floor. I went to the front desk and told the person there that I wanted the room done and was very upset. He told me he thought because of Covid they could not clean the rooms!! I explained they were supposed sanitize the rooms daily because of Covid. He informed me there was no one around to clean the rooms at that time. End.

Sorry for your experience. I apologize for not delivering you fresh towels as requested. It was my mistake which we could have easily addressed. Like the rest of the hotel industry - we modified our service model and changed our housekeeping services providing full housekeeping service for stays 4+ nights to maintain social distancing but provide fresh towels/linens on a request basis. While our modified COVID - housekeeping services have been outlined for our guests on our registration cards since April 2020, we are currently revisiting and will be updating our housekeeping model in the next few weeks considering the new, less restrictive US, Colorado, and Ouray County COVID regulations. 100% daily Guest Satisfaction is our business and priority. If something isn't right - we'll fix the problem immediately to the satisfaction of our guests or provide some type of appropriate compensation/refund. Sorry again for not delivering you your towels. Adam

not just in the restaurant setting, but also none of the cleaning staff none of the management had masks on. When asked to put masks on they acted offended. it's absolutely impossible that if you have that much disregard for public health and safety that the hotel is clean, the kitchen is clean, and you can trust to eat in his place or stay in a place without getting sick. 10 out of 10 would not recommend.

the hotel room was fine and decent for the price, but absolutely will never be back because they have such disregard for public health and safety.

We take Covid-19 very seriously. Everyone working at the hotel wears a mask and we follow the American Hotel and Motel Association recommended cleaning protocols along with Ouray County and State of Colorado Covid-19 operating guidance. We are very sensitive to the conditions that can spread this highly contagious virus, have removed furniture from the lobby, have plexiglass sneeze guards separating guests and front desk staff, eliminated a popular, self serve breakfast buffet, now serve homemade breakfast burritos and have added room service - so we can help guests maintain appropriate social distancing as well as avoid unwanted social contact. Until we receive other guidance, we will continue to follow the above outlined operating plan. Respectfully - Adam

No one at the front desk until 4PM check in, or after 10PM.
We understood it was a non smoking room, so we went outside to our car and smoked
Nothing open near this hotel as far as food, the restaurant inside is from 4PM to 10Pm.
We get up at 4am to start our day, continue to go outside to smoke. No coffee in room, even though there is a coffee maker.
Front desk area is dark. nothing open within 15 miles.
Finally at 6am,My wife and I decided to just pack up and head home.
We get home, and later we get a phone call saying we are going to be charged $250 because the room smelled like smoke!
Even after we told them to look at their own cameras to see we went outside!!!
Will never recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

Everything you need in a roadside lodge near Ouray. I liked the beds. They gave free chocolate and breakfast. The staff was nice. It was reasonably clean. There was a lot to like. On the down side, there is loud noise.. cars and semis a few feet away, doors in adjacent rooms are all loud and slam shut, we heard a dog barking in the next room. The site kinda says it's a loud place. It's true. It was quite enough to sleep, but not sleep late. We were near the outdoor smoking area on the second floor. The room smelled like smoke. Not terrible, but it was there the whole time.

At the front desk, they were very hospitable, but they take down their masks to make it easier for them to speak. Some guests in the saloon seemed free to not wear masks at all. The saloon and checkin counters are combined. It's one counter space. Made us a little nervous. If you are serious about covid safety, this might not be your spot. It worked for us for a short stay.

Thank you for your comments. While we are a pet friendly hotel, we are also about "quite enjoyment" for all guests. If we hear a dog bark or if another guest complains about noise or a dog barking from another room we address the situation immediately. I'm sorry we didn't address your "noise concerns/issues" immediately. We also appreciate your issues regarding the smoking area and have moved it to the other side of the parking lot, away from the building. All our employees are required to wear a mask during this unusual Covid-19 time period. Our front desk and bar area also have plexiglass sneeze guards separating further creating a barrier and social distancing between guests and the front desk staff. We also have signage in our lobby requiring that masks are worn per public health department order. On occasion, people forget to bring their mask from their room... We ask them to cover their face with a shirt and we offer masks at the front desk. Some people feel wearing a mask is about questioning their freedom. We ask them to be sensitive to the needs of others - like not smoking indoors or wearing pants in the lobby vs. walking in the lobby in their underwear... Please be considerate of others...

We just spent 3 nights here. Great location for visiting Ouray, Telluride, Hot Springs and Ridgeway State Park. Great base for a multitude of activities. The thing I liked best, was the peaceful grasses side yard replete with beautiful mountains views and a great selection of 70’s music. The free breakfast didn’t hurt either. Sooooo glad we chose this place over Telluride. Friendly staff, great local beers on tap for $4 a glass and a pool and sauna to boot. They even allow your dog ( additional fee). Their salads are fantastic! We ordered them every day and ate outside in the yard. If you want to relax around people who stick to the covid rules without being intrusive, then stay here. Lots of space.

Our stay was wonderful; everything from the cleanliness of the lodge, to the spacious and comfortable room with a huge tv to the friendly staff, to the delicious food and drinks. I can't recommend this stay more. It is the perfect location for hiking as well as visiting Telluride, Ouray, Silverton and the scenic Million Dollar Highway. The best part is that it is dog friendly and even had dog bowls in the room and treats for our pups. Already looking forward to our next stay!
