Really have been enjoying the resort it’s beautiful and very peaceful. However we booked two rooms 201 and 204 the walk way between rooms is extremely dark. We brought our grandmother along and i expressed my safety concerns our first night nothing was done, but was assured that 2nd night it would be fixed. There are 3 light posted between the rooms that are out. I saw the front desk employee and asked him about it before it got dark and found out nothing was done. Safety is important to me and my family and I’m shocked on how they handled our concern would expect this from a place like this.......

We stumbled upon this place when trying to travel cross country during the COVID19 era. Ouray county only had 12 total cases over the 4 months prior, with only 1 or 2 new cases within the previous three weeks. That said, what a great place. Stayed in the Ouray Suite - fabulous suite with full kitchen. Great little resort. Pool is big enough to swim laps, and there's a great hot tub with fabulous views of the mountains - Courthouse and Mt Sneffels. Of course, our suite had a hot tub on the deck which we utilized several times a day! Will definitely stay here again!

Totally run down and rude front desk staff. We booked 3 nights but were so disappointed that we only stayed 2. They refused to refund us the last night despite all the problems. The “private” hot tub room we booked was not actually private as the hot tub is in a public hallway with people passing constantly. Plus the hot tub wreaks of chemicals. The toilet lid doesn’t stay up, the bath tub leaked, many window shades were inoperable, dirty room, air conditioning units were full of dander and didn’t work, and we had three forks and other insufficient quantities of silverware for our group. The face mask requirement is not enforced. Whenever we called the front desk to have something addressed the response was always to call back the next morning since the correct people to address it had gone home. They refuse to pass a message along. Nothing got fixed. The breakfast is pathetic. Dairy milk is the only option for the dry cereal which tells you just how out of touch these people are.

Dear T4706IOanneb, Thank you for sharing your concerns during your recent stay. Our deepest apologies that your stay did not exceed your expectations. After reviewing your stay, you were booked in Spa Suite 201, located on the second floor midway down the corridor. This Spa Suite does have a hot tub located outside of the room and other guests do have access to the walkway. The room description for this Unit states "Personal patio with outdoor hot tub" and we do our best to share with guests that hot tub decks are not necessarily private. We have asked our Maintenance team to troubleshoot and address why the toilet seat lid does not stay open. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We do our best to request that all guests wear masks in the common areas and the Chipeta staff wear masks at all times when interfacing with guests. Our deepest apologies our Front Desk was not prompt in addressing your requests. We always strive to assist guests with requests or concerns as soon as possible unless a repair or replacement is not possible in the evening before regularly scheduled staff are able to address the request. Regarding breakfast, we typically serve a wonderful hot breakfast at our Great Room breakfast bar, which includes scrambles, eggs, Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, house made granola, bagels, croissants, gluten free muffins and oatmeal. Unfortunately, we have been ordered, per Governor Polis, to only provide a to-go continental breakfast and we have carefully selected breakfast items that are individually wrapped or sealed for our guests safety. Additionally, we are doing our best to locate an individually packaged milk alternative and we will continue to locate a solution. Sincerely, Chipeta Guest Service Team

Went away without kids for a few days and we’re disappointed in the accommodations. The room was rustic and not very comfortable, you couldn’t run the air conditioning window unit and draw the curtains at the same time, so sun beamed into the room or we were hot. There were extension cords everywhere, loose electrical sockets, a really run down bathroom and it was just kind of hot and cramped in there. Not at all a place we would comfortably hang out for an hour, and we paid for the most expensive room type we could. It was nice to have a private hot tub, but that too didn’t seem that clean. No one drops off clean linens and they only offer bars of soap, not pumped hand soap which feels better in these times. The pool was cloudy. The to go COVID breakfast was uninspired — Frosted Flakes and prewrapped, convenience store dry muffins. There wasn’t a bar open until 5 and the restaurant opened shakily when we were there but it still had a lot of kinks to work out. Overall, we get the COVID thing and can understand some of this, but for $250 a night, a price that rivals what you would spend in Vail Village at some of the nicest hotels there, I expect cleaner, more elegant hospitality and a little more of a luxurious experience — even if modified during a pandemic.

Dear Allison S, Thank you for sharing your concerns during your recent stay. Our deepest apologies your stay expectations were not exceeded. If you could please respond with which room you stayed in we would be happy to evaluate the equipment to ensure it is up to date, comfortable and safe. Due to covid-19 protocols, between every stay hot tubs are drained, a Covid-19 approved cleaning solution is applied, scrubbed out, hot tubs are refilled and pH levels are re-checked to ensure the levels are safe. Regarding housekeeping, typically we pride ourselves on providing daily housekeeping services for all guests. Unfortunately, due to current Covid-19 protocols, we are temporarily unable to provide daily housekeeping service and must adhere to strict sanitation protocols between stays. We do offer to exchange linens with guests at their room if requested by 11am and at the front desk if requested after 11am; we apologize for this inconvenience and hope to return to normal housekeeping services soon. Regarding toiletries, we do provide travel size liquid shampoo, body wash, lotion and a body bar for each room. We are always happy to replenish toiletries whenever requested. Regarding the outdoor pools, we do our best ensure the chlorine levels are always correct and the pools are cleaned at least twice daily. We do experience inclement rain and snow and wind weather frequently, which affects the pH levels of the pool. we do our best to correct and clean the pools after each weather event to restore the cleanliness of the pool as soon as possible. Regarding the complementary breakfast bar for guests, typically we serve a hot breakfast buffet including hot scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, bagels, croissants and oatmeal. Due to Covid-19 protocols we are currently not allowed to serve our buffet breakfast and we have carefully selected individually wrapped breakfast items to ensure our guests safety. we do hope, when it is safe, we can return to serving the full hot breakfast buffet. My wife and I were traveling through San Juan National Forest and were doing car camping so we needed a break. We had the opportunity to stay in the Ouray Suite and it was perfect for a few days of relaxation. When we checked in I shares that I had a dog and they were very accommodating. We hung out the rest of the night in our room with the hot tub and some dinner from downtown. The downtown area is very nice and has a great selection of food and drinks. A brewery a few blocks away along with bars and restaurants for every meal. The town is located close to major towns and attractions. Because our travel was in early June Covid-19 was still top of min-1and the staff were all wonderful, responsible and respectful. They had a grab and go breakfast where they usually would have continental. They have a list of all items and you just tell them what you would like and they place the items into a bag for you. All items but fruit are wrapped items and a great selection. The ladies working the morning breakfast were all so kind and inviting and we had great conversations with them and learned more about the area. The Hotel was undergoing upgrades so the pool was closed and the parking lot had "construction" but there was no noise just painting and re surfacing walls. During the epidemic is a great time to update and they seemed to take full advantage. We were completely understanding that all amenities including food and pool were closed but we enjoyed the area and the room itself. We ended up staying an extra two nights just because it was a quaint atmosphere.

We really appreciate your patience during the constructions upgrades we were completing for the thermal heated pools and privacy walls around the resort. The newly constructed wood deck and conversation sectional day beds have created a great new comfortable space for guests to enjoy. The hopefully temporary Covid-19 grab-n-go breakfast is not ideal and we would love to serve our traditional hot breakfast.
