The Bross Hotel is an historic Bed & Breakfast located one block from downtown Paonia, Colorado. Discover the charm of this farm to table capital of Colorado while staying in beautiful accomodations at the Bross Hotel!
The Hotel was clean and had nice ambiance. The administration communicated well pre arrival. I was disappointed that the room we reserved didn’t have a shower. When I asked if we could switch rooms they said no. I was also disappointed that the dormers in the room were so low and the way the bed was arranged caused me to hit my head on the dormer in the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom. We also got our head multiple times on the light fixture sconces which were obtrusive into the hallways. The last thing that disappointed me was the breakfast was not served on time and we were unable to take our breakfast to go. At one time we wanted to sit together to eat breakfast and there were no tables available.

Response from BROSS HOTEL, Innkeeper at Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast
Responded 5 days ago
Kristina - Thank you for sharing your thoughts and we’re very sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay. The clawfoot bathtub in the room you selected is specifically mentioned in the room description on our website which you booked through, and is even shown in the room photo. As far as switching rooms, we were completely full that night as we explained to you, and moving another of our guests per your suggestion into a room that they did not request was neither an acceptable nor a professional alternative. When another room is available we will always allow our guests to switch to a different one, without hesitation. Regarding breakfast: we operate a very small and very busy kitchen and are acutely aware of service time. On the morning you describe we were over-capacity to accommodate a wedding party and started serving at 8:32; late, you are correct, by 2 minutes. At that time we did not see you anywhere in the dining room. When you appeared after our other guests had already arrived, were seated and being served, you inquired as to whether you had to sit down at a table to eat. After being told yes – at which point there was at least one available table - you left the room. If space was tight by the time you decided you were ready for breakfast, we could easily have consolidated other parties or seated you at one of the outdoor bistro tables as it was a lovely morning. Rather, you told us that you had to leave for a 9AM class which, had you informed us when we spoke regarding breakfast times at check-in the previous evening, we would have made it a priority. Lastly, to our knowledge no other guest has hit their head on a wall sconce but we will certainly look into any potential safety concerns regarding architectural details. Again, we very much appreciate your feedback. The Bross Hotel

The Bross historic B&B was everything I hoped for!! It had lots of charm and comfort. The breakfast food was beautiful and delicious! The decor was simple and pretty: fresh flowers, interesting books, art, historic touches and old photos. Mike and Suzanne couldn’t have been more gracious and friendly!! They were also very helpful with information about the area since it was my first time there. It is obvious their hard work makes The Bross the fantastic place it is! My room was on the 3rd floor. It was cozy, quiet, and comfortable. There is no elevator so stairs are inevitable…ok for me but maybe not for some. The Wi-Fi service does not work well on the 3rd floor, and cell service (Verizon) was mostly “no service” or “SOS only” Fortunately, I didn’t plan on being extensively on-line this trip, and the hotel lobby had a great wi-fi signal when I needed it. I spent time on the front porch rocking chairs reading and that was delightful! I also took advantage of the local wine service they offer. That was a very nice way to wind down after a day at the Black Canyon and downtown. It was a wonderful trip and I will definitely stay there again. I have raved to my friends and family about my stay at the Bross.…

The Bross is a lovely, historic old hotel, very comfortable and quaint, located in a quiet little neighborhood in Paonia....just a block from restaurants and shopping. The service was wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, local and just wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend the Bross to others.

Another excellent stay at the Bross. Our room, the Perfect Pear, was a bit of a hike to the third floor, but very relaxing. The breakfast, with fresh sliced fruit, frosted donuts and two sunny side eggs over potato pancakes with cheese sauce was memorable.

Third time back to the Bross and still a wonderful experience. Hosts are accommodating and friendly. Hotel is beautiful and super clean and smells like pie. Great place to relax after wine tasting and hiking. No doubt we will be back again!

We stayed four nights at the Bross in late July. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hosts were very gracious. Don’t miss the breakfasts! They were to die for. Paonia is a great town for an active vacation and the Bross provides a wonderful base.

Such a relaxing experience. Paonia is a wonderful little town and staying there in a historic hotel makes it that much better. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and a fantastic homemade breakfast. And all for around the same price you would pay for a chain hotel down the valley. I will definitely be back.

I was in Paonia for a motorcycle rally and opted to stay at the Bross over camping in the park with 600 fellow riders. I had seen the hotel on another trip and thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did. My Bross Hotel stay was absolutely delightful. The hotel is charming and comfortable and our hosts, Suzanne and Michael, could not have been more genial and welcoming. And those breakfasts, WOW, what culinary delights we were treated to! It really was a perfect base to venture from to some of the wonders that Western Colorado has to offer.
