Detailed Reviews
The Bross Hotel is our new gold standard for Bed & Breakfast Inns. The building is loaded with charm and has been spectacularly renovated with no detail left unattended. The rooms are small but very tastefully & authentically decorated, without any extra stuff to take up space. The bed and linens were of the highest quality and very comfortable, providing a great night's sleep. The hot tub is the Cadillac of all hot tubs and meticulously maintained. We loved the big porch and the breakfast was excellent. Suzanne and Mike went out of their way to spoil us. If you are anywhere near Paonia, this is THE place to stay. We promise you won't be disappointed.

The Bross was an incredible place to stay for a few days and the breakfasts there rivalled anything I would find when I live in New York. Mike and Suzanne made me feel at home and at ease in this beautiful historic inn. The rooms and common areas are tastefully decorated in a manner befitting of the era but they have the modern comforts of luxury sheets, mattresses and towels and good pressure in the shower. On the menu was a gourmet sampling of chilaquiles, pancakes with lemon curd and blueberry sauce served with bacon, and a savory creation by Suzanne of egg and cheese atop a pastry smothered in a delicious homemade sauce. It was also a great location from which to visit the area's many wineries and sample the latest production with gorgeous vistas of the mountains. The Bross could be the centerpiece of any vacation planned in Western Colorado. I can't wait to get back!

This lovingly restored Victorian bed and breakfast easily ranks as the most charming and comfortable lodging option in Paonia. The rooms all offer distinctive decor, but try to snag the Peaches and Cream room if you can; it’s quite roomy, with nice views and a well-quilted bed that insures a good sleep. The upstairs porch makes a perfect place to while away the late afternoon reading or enjoying a good glass of wine. Suzanne and Mike are gracious hosts and put on an excellent morning feed; most dietary restrictions can be met if known in advance. And once you’ve parked your car, you won’t need it again: Paonia’s quiet but interesting three-block main drag is just around the corner.

This is a wonderful place to stay – clean, friendly, convenient, beautifully decorated rooms in a meticulously restored old brick building on a tree-shaded street. Loved the 2nd-floor veranda. The managers, Mike & Suzanne, did an absolutely great job. Suzanne provided homemade sweetcorn ice cream in the evening – delicious. Great breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Bross for 2 nights and had the most wonderful experience! Comfortable beds, well appointed rooms each with its own character, and the most delicious breakfast - pancakes with homemade lemon curd and blueberries, bacon, local fruit. Everything was thoughtful and discrete and lovely without being fussy. Mike and Suzanne had great suggestions for places to visit in and around Paonia - found the perfect gifts at the Blue Sage Art Center and Paonia Flowers - and great food from Big B’s and Root and Vine. And the landscape just took our breath away. Truly a memorable few days!

I recently travelled cross country and the Bross Hotel B&B was my favorite stay by far. The lovely historic building is in an ideal location one block from the main street where you can find restaurants, cute shops and galleries. The hotel has a fabulous full breakfast, with lovely outdoor seating areas.
The Innkeepers were extremely friendly and welcoming. From leaving some stellar rosemary shortbread in the room, to giving me coffee and a cooler ice pack for the road, to checking that I'd made it safely to my final destination, they went above and beyond. They are taking real precautions in light of COVID-19 (unlike most other places that I stayed), which was really reassuring after a long day on the road.

This B&B is located in a beautiful historic hotel. I was fortunate to spend two weeks there at the end of July and early August. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The hotel is cooled by an evaporative cooler, which keeps the hotel well ventilated with outdoor air. The hotel is ideally located a very short walking distance from restaurants, bars, and a supermarket. Chairs on the porches are shaded by two huge old Cottonwoods in front of the main entrance. The owners, Suzanne and Mike, are extremely accommodating and will consistently go out of their way to meet your needs. I highly recommend this B&B.

We only had a short one night stay here, but want to return. Suzanne and Mike made our stay welcoming from check-in to departure. They accommodated our gluten free food needs too. The old hotel is updated with a nod to it’s Victorian charm. The bed was comfortable, shower was a good size, and the room was large enough to not feel cramped. We highly recommend the Bross Hotel if you are visiting the North Fork Valley.

When we put Paonia in our itinerary, we decided Bross Hotel was the place to stay in. We were delighted that our choice was vindicated. A beautiful old building originally built in 1906 has been carefully and lovingly redone. It was identical to a vintage photograph in one of the rooms except for the outside decking. Each room is thematically done and shows the pride and care that went in. Sure, the rooms are on the small side and you will not find room air conditioners, but an evaporative cooling arrangement appeared to be effective enough in the dry Colorado air. There is a lovely porch from where you can see the stars on an inky night while enjoying a takeout from the excellent Flying Fork Cafe, within walking distance. Suzanne and Mike run the place with care, pride and joy which shows up in the sumptuous breakfast that is not to be missed. Usually, I am wary when the write-up describes a place as charming or characterful but this one is truly so and an excellent hotel as well.

We stayed in the "Perfect Pear" room...Weather outside was unusually hot (high 90s) when we were there in July, but the inn-keepers kept the building quite comfortable, plus the shaded front porch is a cool spot to be. The entire building is well appointed, adorable, could stay there for days. Food is simply excellent. When it comes to running a nice B&B, these folks really know what they're doing. What a gem in little ol' Paonia, CO!
