We stayed one night. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Max and Carrie the managers really care for the grounds and guests! We took a nice dog walk around the impressive 15 acres. Breakfast was delicious.

Thanks for staying with us! We enjoy hearing from all our guests, but especially when everything was just the way it should be. It lets us know we are doing all the right things to help each person's stay be the best. We hope you will become part of the HCL family and treat this as your home away from... More

My sisters and I stayed in a studio cabin Sunday May 17, 2015. It was very nice. The grounds were beautiful, very peaceful and the breakfast was good. The staff was great. We will be going back soon. Located about 2 miles from town and was very easy to find.

I am the friend, the one who left her phone charger in the room, mentioned by KMinNM. I received it in the mail yesterday. Thank you so much! I also enjoyed our short stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean and cozy. Breakfast was better than other similar breakfast spreads at other hotels that I... More

The folks who run this place are very helpful and accommodating. We arrived into town a bit late...the gal (owner?) at the front desk was very helpful with finding a restaurant that was open (doing all the calling) and made us aware of the breakfast provided in the morning and the DVD's we could choose from the library of DVD's... It sounds like you really enjoyed our small studio cabin. You are right-the fireplace is wonderful in the winter and creates a romantic ambiance! Many guests have made great memories in these cozy retreats and come back year after year to the same cabin. We were happy to be of service to you, both in finding the best restaurant, and... More

We stayed in one of the studio cabins and while it was cozy, they are very close together and lack any real privacy. Also, the shower in the cabin is tiny and has very little water pressure, along with a sign on the wall notifying users of the small water heater capacity. I think next time we will find a... More

HCL has a variety of cabins for most tastes and budgets, starting with our 3 one room studio cabins which have a small kitchenette and ¾ bath, a nice porch, and a great location directly across from our hot tub deck and picnic area. In the winter, these 3 cabins are the only ones in Pagosa Springs with real wood... More

My husband, son and myself stayed at the High Country Lodge in August 2014 while in town visiting family. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the room was just "ok". Nothing special, and we found several bugs/spiders in our room. The bathroom had mold and mildew in places, and a few of our towels did too (yuck). There... More

This review is very puzzling to us-you say you stayed in Aug 2014, yet you didn’t write a review until 9 months later. We are available 24/7 for the slightest issue, but it seems you did not contact us at any time during your stay with any problems. We apologize if you feel you had a less than excellent stay.... Spent a wonderful weekend at High Country Resort in mid April. We stayed in a cabin which was extremely clean and well cared for. Beds are comfortable breakfast was wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Even helped us build a fire. This place is awesome. Beautiful and peaceful.

I lived in Pagosa Springs for 10 years and knew of the High Country Lodge then. Our family of Five got a cabin with a log stove, 2 bedrooms and a large living area and kitchen. One could see the stars at night and see the wild fowl in the pond during the day. It was off season so hardly... More

You are absolutely right-nature is a great part of HCL! We have a small group of deer that like to check out our guests as they stroll through the area, a mated pair of Canadian geese who raise their young here each spring, a new group of baby muskrats in the pond, and our hummingbirds should be back very soon....
