When our plans changed at the last minute we needed to find lodging in Pagosa Springs. The San Juan Was all we could find. The temps had dropped and it was cold but when we got in the room the AC was blowing and we couldn’t get heat. The young man at the front desk tried but ended up bringing in a space heater. The floor were not vacuumed, there were cigarette holes in the comforter, the room smelled or cigarettes, there were big slashes in the bathroom linoleum, rips in the uncovered bed springs and large pieces of metal sticking out from the bed fram. No coffee cups to go with the coffee maker.

We ended refusing to stay. While we were trying to check in, multiple people were coming to the lobby complaining of rooms not cleaned, dirty linen left in rooms, animal droppings in and around rooms and general, seriously worn out cabins and rooms. Not as advertised. Expensive rates for what is really going on here.

We stayed at the lodge July 2020. We were in the back part of the hotel. It was quiet and we didn't hear any noise from the main road. The forest came right to the back of our room. The room was clean with a new laminate wood floor and some cabin decor. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough (but I like a firm bed) We had basic cable, that worked fine. The window air conditioner worked. The shower worked well and we had hot water in the evening and the morning. The worst part was the concrete shower floor was a bit moldy. The best part is we could walk along past the cabins to the river for a little walk. We also walked the main street and a liquor store was across the street. Inside the room smelled fine...outside a rug smelt musty and should be thrown away...as it was off putting. I think next time I would get a cabin. The breakfast was adequate with yogurt, fruits, muffins and pastires. The coffee was fine. Room was adequate, location was good. I think cabins seemed nicer, but were more expensive.

Room Tip: rooms in the back, away from the road were quiet. Cabins seemed nicer.

Nice cabin in a pinch...storm was coming up and as we were on motorcycles needed a safe place quickly. The shared cabin was fine...nothing fancy but all was clean. Was a good price for 5 of us and Chella (owner or manager) was more than helpful.
