We're leaving tomorrow, but have been here since July 15th and have thoroughly enjoyed it! Its got spacious sites with full hookups, fire ring and picnic table. The sites are shady and the temperatures have been so pleasant compared to our home state of Arkansas. We have only started to run our a/c the last couple of days, and it doesn't run that long - its very cool here in the mornings. This campground has everything you could ask for, and location, location, location! We're surrounded by the mountains and photos cannot do this area justice. Great hiking trails in national forest. Some of our neighbors have UTV's and we would've enjoyed ours if we'd brought it. It is very quiet at night, which was important to us. We have already reserved time here for next year, and will be staying longer - thats how great we think it is.…
We recently stayed in one of the cabins at Sportsman’s campground and had a great time. They have a nice lodge for showers and laundry. The staff in the general store is friendly and helpful. If you are camping in a tent, camper/RV or want to rent one of their cabins, you can’t go wrong with Sportsman’s. Bonus the area is beautiful.
Folks, I know I should probably tell you to stay away from here just so I could keep it to myself, but I can’t. This was one of the best camping experiences I’ve ever had. My brother and I took a trip to the Pagosa area and just left today. I can’t say enough good thing about Sportsman’s. From the check in up front with Melinda, to the hospitality throughout our trip, it couldn’t have gone better. We felt like family there. One of our neighbors brought us firewood to use and we were invited to dinner and dessert several times by other neighbors including Melinda and her mom (who happen to be two of the nicest ladies I’ve met). We spent 5 nights there and wish we could’ve stayed longer. They helped us with advice on where to eat and what sights to say. The campsite was spacious and clean. Built in fire pits in each site, plus a picnic table. There’s a lodge in the center of the campground with showers, bathrooms, washer/dryers, classic Ms. Pac-Man game, billiards and foosball. There’s even a small library of books for you to choose from. Be sure to bring a book to leave for others to read. There is also a kitchenette if you need to use. I’m telling you folks, this is the place to be. The only downside is the gravel road driving up there but the breathtaking views make up for it. …
Had a fun couple days here at sportsman. We stayed in the ponderosa cabin. It is a nice place to set up your rv or stay in the cabins. Close to a couple trails and the Williams lake is just right the road to go fishing...really good place to come to and relax as you get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life
This place has clean rest rooms, showers . Staff was very helpful and friendly . our tent side was shaded very well. Very close to piedra falls. Please be aware that this place is out from Pagosa. We went down the roads in a Hyundai elantra, it was rough ride. But that is not the campground's fault.
