Super cute little hippy motel. Room two was really clean, stylish, and comfortable. We were able to snag a room on the Friday before 4th of July somehow. My husband did the check in and said everyone was really nice. The room was quiet and we had everything we needed! We would definitely recommend and will be back for sure!
I don’t see any other reviews mentioning this, so first off realize that steam from the shower will set off the smoke detector… which is connected to every room of the motel. First time it happened I didn’t even know that was possible, scrambled to wriggle my wet body into clothes and put my hair in a towel, and grab my anxious dog. I don’t think the motel staff are aware this is an issue because the housekeeper told me they’d been “having issues with the system” so hopefully they read these reviews. Second time it happened we were up at 6am to check out and had planned to slip out quietly so we wouldn’t disturb our neighbors. Husband took a shower, alarms went off, and when we frantically opened the door to let steam out several people in pj’s were righteously annoyed outside of their rooms - embarrassing! I’m seeing several reviews about the lounge being great but you need to know that the lounge is open to the public, so as soon as it opens the parking lot fills up and the place is packed within the first hour. The first couple nights we tried to go it took forever to get service because the locals (“regulars”) were skipping us in line and getting preferential treatment (we could tell the bartenders knew them). In our experience the locals/regulars were very evasive and even gave us sour looks, we felt like the annoying tourists and I felt like sarcastically apologizing for spending money in their town. We’re not even from out of state - not that it matters. Last complaint is more of the motel’s problem - there was lots of snow melt so the parking lot was super muddy. Our floor and our friend’s floors were covered in mud. Thank goodness the floors are wood and not carpet! Hopefully they’re planning to add gravel to the parking lot, next time we’ll be sure to remove our shoes at the door and bring our own towel to dry our dogs paws. For us there would definitely be a next time, despite all the complaints, because there were some pros - good location, friendly and helpful staff, free coffee and snacks set out in the morning, and pet friendly. Also, live music at the lounge. The lounge would be more fun if you’re staying during the week or during off season I bet.…
This place is a lot of fun. Take a 50's road side motel and totally renovate it and fix it up to the standards of todays traveler--including some imaginative decorating. Then add occasional outdoor early evening music guests and a nice lounge and you've got a unique and fun place. But wait . . . there's more ! ! Frisbee Golf, Volley Ball, Incredible views and hiking right outside your door ! And very caring and involved owners. Great time !
Very small room, outlets minimal, NO TV, breakfast? ( all we saw was two granola bars), must have added a coffee pot after hearing complaints, I missed this being a quaint experience!! It was clean though so that is why I gave them 3 stars.
We read about this Motel in Sunset magazine. It was a bit too minimal for my taste, for example: very small room, no A/C, no wall plugs near bed, no coffee or microwave in room, tiny fridge, only one chair at each door front (so you need to carry more outside). On main road but did not experience road noise. Nice little bar on property.
Good laid-back style and vibe, good decor, and friendly front-desk staff. Very comfy bed. Only 3 stars because there is no microwave in the room, the fridge is extremely small and inconveniently placed, and there is no coffee in the room. Also, there was water on the floor by the door when I walked in. Almost slipped on it, whoopsie daisy! For the price, I do expect at least some coffee. Also, there is no TV in the room which is fine for me, but just be aware of that. Tourist area so I guess the price is good compared to the others.
We stayed here one night while skiing at Wold Creek. This place is adorable! The rooms are small, but perfect. The El Camino Lounge was a bonus and the food truck behind the hotel, was a bonus plus! The decor was cool, views are amazing and service was perfect. Will definitely be back!
Our family stayed in a double queen and a single queen. Rooms are small but so well thought out in design and decor. No a/c which we didn’t realize BUT with powerful fans AND even though daytime was in the 90’s, rooms were fine. Nighttime temps dropped into the 40s. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The best part of the hotel is the food truck, bar, and live music. GREAT tacos and brisket sandwiches, nice selection of beers and craft cocktails, and we were lucky enough to be there on a Friday night when they had a talented band playing —- it was a little challenging to find a spot to enjoy the band AND social distance but it was still possible. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Pleasant breakfast offerings in a lovely location — we enjoyed watching a hummingbird drink from a feeder there.…

We are Pagosa locals and have been a fan of Motel SoCo from the beginning! I’m taking some time out to review some of our favorite places in town because of COVID and its effects on our town cuz we are all stronger together! Motel SoCo has hosted birthday parties for us, a graduation party for our son and has been our go-to “grab a drink after work” regularly over the last few years. We love the staff, love the outdoor area and always feel right at home when we are there! Grateful for this Pagosa hangout!
