We came here for our mini-honeymoon and were not disappointed. Super cute, very clean place within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The owner cooked an excellent breakfast every morning. Fresh coffee was available each morning and happy hour each night was a huge plus. We met some other nice couples over nightly beer and wine. The owner knew we had just got married and brought us a nice bottle of chilled champagne and some delicious local chocolates. We had a lot of snow while visiting and the covered hot tub was so nice. I would highly recommend this place. The owner is very nice and the value of this bed and breakfast is outstanding.

Only got to spend one night and was impressed with the kindness and hospitality of the host/owner. Seamless check-in, warm, comfy room and public spaces. Very thoughtful and unexpected extras, generous and delicious breakfast. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return, and for more than a single night next time!

We had a wonderful stay at Black Bear Manor! We stayed for 3 nights in October. The bed was very comfortable and the room was the perfect size. The breakfast John made every morning was delicious and it was apparent he truly cared about the guest's experience and asked for feedback. It is walking distance to town and Ouray is a hidden gem in Colorado. We can't wait to come back and stay again!

After 8 days of traveling around southwest Colorado, we spent our last night at Black Bear before heading to the airport. We felt that a b&b stay would fit well with the quaint surroundings of this small town. First the positive notes. Our room was easily accessible both through the lobby as well as through the sliding glass door to the outdoor hot tub and to load and unload the car. The king-sized bed was very comfortable with crisp sheets and overall the room was clean. Location was ideal as just a two block walk to Main St for all shops and restaurants. When we stay at a b&b, we have come accustomed to being greeted at check-in by the host(s), able to engage in conversation regarding the area and generally feeling welcome. Upon our arrival just after the 4pm check-in time, we arrived to an empty foyer with a piece of paper on a clipboard to sign up for a breakfast time and to advise that our key was left in our room. Which room is ours? We found an employee who was able to look up our name on his phone and advise that we were in Room #4. No “welcome”, “do you need anything”, etc., just basically self serve. Breakfast the next morning was the biggest disappointment. We easily could have gone to a restaurant in town but look forward to another opportunity to converse with the host and meet other guests. What we experienced was what appeared to be the barely awake maintenance man in sweats and a hoodie pulled over his head serving us what could best be described as a child’s plate. One wedge of a thin breakfast quiche, a spoonful of cubed potatoes and a slice of an orange for color. Again, no “good morning”, “how was your evening?”, “thanks for staying with us”. We did not partake in the beer and wine 30 minute happy half hour the night prior, but expect that it was more of the same. For the $300+ we paid for our one night in Ouray, we could have found a more hospitable host venue.

Spent 3 nights here during a fall colors tour of Colorado. The location is excellent--2 weeks off the main street (although it *is* a little bit of a walk uphill to the restaurants) and quiet. The property is fine. Stayed in room #3, a small room on the ground floor. Bed was comfortable, but room is indeed on the small side. Outdoor access is to a covered walkway with no seating; better outdoor access is found in the shared space just out the front door--several tables and chairs and access to sun. Breakfast was fine, nothing fancy. No frills, no choices, but adequate. All in all, a fine experience, but nothing particularly memorable.

This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Ouray. I only wish we had more time so we could have stayed longer! The room was wonderful - comfortable bedding and a relaxing atmosphere. Loved the happy hour, getting to know some of the other guests. Breakfast was excellent and the proprietor was quite pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Ouray or the surrounding area. It's a short walk to the main street.

Just two blocks from the main street and located on a dead-end street so no traffic. Stream with seating nearby. Comfortable rooms, happy hour in the evening, and nice hot breakfast. There is a black bear which roams nearby named Archie, you might catch him cutting through the neighborhood early in the morning.

You meet so many wonderful people while staying there. B&B at a great location, close to restaurants and shopping. Can not say enough good things about this place.

We had a very nice clean room and fast Internet. We spent two nights after the first night we had a wonderful breakfast and then that evening they were supposed to serve IPAs and wine and no one ever showed up with any the next morning we got up and breakfast had been canceled. No one showed up to cook and so we had to make our own coffee. Not sure what happened but it was still a very nice clean B&B

We are deeply sorry for the terrible incident where breakfast was not served. We have issued a discount to your credit card on file, but if you would like a further discount, please message us through our website and we will get right back to you. What occurred was unacceptable and we have made staffing changes to ensure this will never happen again. We appreciate your gracious review in light of what happened, and we are truly sorry.
