Staying at the Niwot Inn made our visit to the Boulder area very special. It was our retreat, after a day of sightseeing. The blazing fire in the great room was so welcoming, along with the staff, the delicious cookies, and the evening wine and cheese. Our queen suite was very comfortable and having the fireplace there brought cozy warmth during the cold winter weather. We also loved the heated toilet seat- who knew? Nicole, Clarissa, and Cornelia were all very helpful and recommended restaurants and things to see and do. The town of Niwot is quiet and quaint. It's about a 90 minute or less drive to ski areas and Cheyenne and less than an hour to Denver. Boulder is 7-10 minutes. This is a great place to stay.

We loved the location of the Inn, and walked all over the beautiful town of Niwot. Check in and check out was nice and friendly, and our room was wonderful. We did not see much of the crackling fireplace in the Great room that they advertise on their website, the fire came on late and did not last long, but we enjoyed sitting there. We experienced the same lack of attention to detail for the "warm"cookies and coffee in the afternoon. Breakfast was good, but quite basic. We would stay again for the lovely room, and the charm of the town center.

Three of my family gathered at the Inn of Niwot to spend the New Year holiday together. We were fortunate to reserve the apartment, which has two bedrooms, two baths, a sitting area, small kitchen and dining area. It was perfect for us! The Inn serves a light breakfast, and we were able to prepare our lunches and a dinner or two right there in our apartment. It was so nice to be able to stay together and visit together at our leisure. The decor is outstanding and comfortable. A fireplace in each bedroom and in the sitting area provided a cozy ambiance. There is a fitness room, a laundry, a conference room, and a spa area, too, so several types of guest needs can be accommodated.

Niwot Inn and Spa is gorgeous inside and out, with large timbers and ironwork accents, a comfortable living room which serves as the meeting space for the continental breakfast, afternoon cookies, and the evening wine & cheese service. There are several smaller quiet-spaces with comfortable leather chairs, and the Inn hosts its own Spa services. Bicycles are available to guests. The Staff is pleasant and accommodating. The Jerez Room 5 has a walk-in shower with built-in bench, a raindance shower overhead and an additional hand-held shower. The best feature is the built-in steam room capability of the shower space. There is also a heated toilet seat, and ample towels. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were a bit too firm to our liking, and the top bed cover was heavy. A lighter intermediate blanket would be a good addition for those who don't like to feel trapped by the covers. The room has a gas fireplace which provides instant warmth, and a mini-frig in the closet to keep a few small items cold. We highly recommend the deep-tissue massage provided in the Inn's Spa. Niwot is a small town with it's place in history as a railroad town with Native American roots. A couple large tree stump carvings commemorate Native American figures across the street from Niwot Inn and Spa. There are a few restaurants nearby, the most popular being the pricey "1914". The Italian restaurant adjacent to the Inn did not meet our expectations, so we will not recommend it. The real gem of the small community is the Old Oak Coffeehouse, an easy walk from the Inn, at which we enjoyed performances by an ensemble of singer/songwriter guitar players with a cellist accompanying on the Friday night, and a duo classical guitarists on the Saturday night. Great freshly ground coffee, too. The Osmosis Art Gallery is also worthy of a visit, which highlights an eclectic mix of contemporary fine art done by Colorado residents. There is a train line (of course) which runs two blocks from the Niwot Inn, but the intrusion was infrequent.

Two of us stayed at the Niwot Inn & Spa for two nights during a cold spell in Oct. Although we were kept waiting for almost ten minutes before the receptionist was able to check us in (about 4 pm), she apologized and explained that nobody else was on duty. She was friendly, took us upstairs to our room, and then showed us around. We took advantage of the coffee/tea and cookies/snacks in the lobby-sitting-eating area both days we were there and served ourselves to wine and hors d'oeuvres in the same location our first afternoon.. We ate dinner in Boulder both evenings, but enjoyed returning to the cozy inn and our private fireplace. (Our room could've used an easy chair.) We loved the heated toilet seat in the (small) bathroom. Breakfasts were a disappointment; in addition to tea, coffee, and juice there were two kinds of cold cereal (available all day long in large containers on the serving table), fruit, yogurt, two types of bread, and two types of supermarket pastries. The second morning there were also a few cold, hardboiled eggs available. There was an attendant in and out during breakfast. Our two walks around Niwot (tiny, pretty town) weren't very successful due to (a) unexpected snow and (b) the number of empty stores and businesses. We were happy with the informality and atmosphere of the inn itself--all of the employees we encountered were pleasant--but we weren't impressed by its breakfast options or what the town of Niwot had to offer during our stay.
