It is a different place, with its own personality. It is like stepping back in time, to another era. The aesthetics that surround our visitors awaken in them unsuspected sensations. The strength of the stone, the noble wood and good books in abundance, blend to make it magical.

If you blink you'll miss the sign from the road, but that is the only thing small about Torre del Guayaibi. The rooms are very large and beautiful appointed, and the main living/dining room is absolutely enormous with a high ceiling that features exposed beams made out of red eucalyptus from the estancia, a walk-in stone fireplace that they light up on cold mornings and evenings, a library, comfortable sofas that stretch around the fireplace, and an open bar (they keep tab). Norma and her crew do a beautiful job in the kitchen, and there are always fresh flowers on the table. There's good wildlife viewing on the property, and it's fun to ride out on their horses to see the large numbers of capybaras, rheas and birds, and to check up on the cattle and sheep. We hired a local neighbor, Ricardo, to take us to the Ibera Wetlands in his 4 wheel drive truck and highly recommend this course of action for those wanting to visit Ibera (very highly recommended) instead of making an attempt in a rental car. The estancia is deep in the heart of gaucho country, and we saw several gauchos herding cattle in their traditional garb, many barefoot because of the large amount of time they spend on their horses in water. Torre del Guayaibi is a beautiful spot in a beautiful part of the country.

This is a very special hotel located 15 km from Mercedes in a cattle ranch. The decoration and style is superb as well as the attention, rooms and food . It is ideal if you are looking for a peaceful and elegant place in a wonderful setting to rest and enjoy nature, walks and observe the local fauna or as a stop in the way to or from the esteros del Iberá .

Like most other people, we stayed here for one night at the beginning and end of our visit to the wetlands. What a wonderful place! It is so luxurious, huge rooms and comfy beds, and your every wish catered for. The food is simply amazingly wonderful, and all this for a very reasonable price. Walking around the Estancia is fun, you can see Capybaras, Nandus and Vizcachas if you are lucky. We also watched the gauchos rounding up the cattle - quite a sight. A wonderful place to relax, walk, read. There is a huge library of books upstairs. The sunsets are amazing. The girls went to so much trouble to make our stay wonderful, even lighting a log fire in the huge fireplace in the evenings. Everything about this place is charming and understated. We also loved talking to Marisa and Enrique and we only wished our Spanish would have allowed us to have proper conversations with this delightful and remarkable couple. They are an inspiration. Marisa claims not to speak English but actually she speaks very well - which is lucky because my Spanish is negligible. I am recommending this wonderful place to everyone, and I hope to go back one day and stay for longer. A haven of peace, tranquility and sanity in the middle of nowhere! You feel like you are staying in a stately home in Scotland, but with better food. And the breakfasts are huge! Thank you so much Marisa for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I just left Torre del Guayaibi after two exquisite nights; if we didn't have to move on we would have gladly stayed longer. Marisa and Enrique's estancia is an absolutely tranquil oasis. Many have mentioned the incredible construction of Torre del Guayaibi and we found these statements to be so true. Enrique is a very gifted and creative builder, while Marisa's impeccable taste fills the estancia with beautiful details that I investigated for hours. We stayed during low season and had the entire estancia to ourselves. I will admit that my husband and I pretended that we were the lord and lady of a fine manor, which is what it felt like because we were absolutely spoiled. Each morning brought an incredible spread of breakfast delights, served with different dainty dishes, place settings and flowers each day. After breakfast we took long walks along the creek to watch the capybaras and birds. We would then retire to the salon to sit in front of the fire, reading from Enrique's outstanding collection of books and sipping mate. Before dinner we would exchange the mate for wine, and on one night an incredible tapas platter was set before us. The food we enjoyed immensely. Even if you think you are too full for dessert, do make a little more room for the decadent post dinner postre. You won't be disappointed. (Lunch and dinner were very reasonably priced at the time of our visit: 200 pesos/person for lunch and 300 pesos/person for dinner.) Night brought us heavenly sleep in the scrumptious beds made with fine linens. We so enjoyed the service of Natalia and Hilda. They were truly delightful and thoughtful. Marisa and Enrique have created a very special place in Torre del Guayaibi. The estancia is gorgeous, the service is impeccable and the hosts are incredibly hospitable. Marisa emailed me several times before we arrived to assist with any needs we might have. She picked out a number of books she thought we might enjoy during our stay and even lent us rubber boots for our walks. We were offered coffee, tea or mate at all times of day and night. I really can't speak highly enough about the estancia. I sincerely hope to return again some day. I had read all of the glowing reviews before our arrival but Torre del Guayaibi exceeded my expectations. The only problem is that we have now been ruined for the rest of our time in Argentina. We should have saved Torre del Guayaibi for last!

On our way up from Buenos Aires to Estero de Iberá we stayed one night at the estancia Torre del Guayaibi and were impressed with the quality standards and the friendly reception by the owner Marisa, her husband and the staff. Just fantastic. This small 6 or 7 rooms only hotel, just some 15 to 20 KMs East of Mercedes makes a perfect stop to unwind and reset your head before being picked up by a 4x4 shuttle to make the remaining 120 KMs dirt road up to Colonia Pellegrini in Estero de Iberá. We stayed two nights. One on our way up and one on our way down. Great place, great people, great staff. Rooms are spacious and high quality tastefully furnished. When we go back to Estero we will stay here again!
