The RV sites are tighter than we are used to. The property is nice and many sights have 100% shade so it is a good idea to look at google earth and compare it to the site map to see if your site is shaded or open. The creek is close but access can be limited if the campground is... More

Elk Creek Campground is a very low key, easy going, quiet camp. Located in New Castle it is far enough from the highway and train but right on the water's edge. The river was up when we were there so the sound of rushing water was amazing. The check in process is pretty lax because the office is only open... More

This is a great find on the creek and close to town. Mobile reception spotty but you can connect to their wifi with no problem. Great sites with electrical hookups and fire pits and picnic benches. Friendly staff, clean restrooms!

We called the day before and were able to make a reservation for a Saturday night...that probably should have been our first clue. We did tent camping, and all of the sites were extremely close together. We unintentionally used the firepit and table of the site next to us (because our fire pit didn't have a grill on it, and... Elk Creek Where do I start…first let me say we did not stay here, after driving at least 7 miles off the highway to this hole in the wall campground I felt the need to let other people know not to waste their time. You take a drive throw an area with some nice homes, then you come to a... More

We stayed 2 nights. This place has great potential. Unfortunately the bathrooms are not kept clean & their are weeds overgrown through out the grounds. Also they show up at the so called office when the spirit moves them. You truly will feel like you are camping at this campground. No "glam-amping " here.

I searched the Glenwood Springs area for a suitable campground with showers and found one that had poor reviews (just outside Glenwood Springs) and Elk Creek Campground. Chose Elk Creek for our 4th of July stay. Not disappointed. It's a nice quite campground. We had reservations for 4 people, each with small tents. Requested by the river. Yeah, they put... More

This COULD be a beautiful campground and according to the office personnel, it used to be. It is up for sale now and the owners (an investment group) are not putting another single penny into it and it shows. It is now a dump. Severely overgrown weeds, crumbling picnic tables, broken electric boxes. It's really disappointing.

We stayed here two nights in a tent and had a fantastic experience (minus the rain, which was out of their control). The campground was beautiful. The river was crystal clear -- loved listening to it babble at night. People were great. There are two sides to the campground -- generally one with cabins and for RVs and one for... More

Overall a really nice stay. The sites are nice, albeit a bit close together. We had 2 small RVs and a van/tent and were fine with three sites. The person we spoke with to make the reservation was very friendly and accommodating for our group. They put us right on the creek, which was really nice and the RVs both... More
