We just had our church camp retreat here and it was amazing! The place was beautiful and the cabins we stayed in were comfortable and very cute! Best part of it all was how friendly, honest, and down to earth the owners and staff were. That week was when Glenwood Canyon had a mud slide and they were so understanding and caring for the day we couldn’t show up and even let us stay a little longer on check out day. Any questions we had got answered and anything we needed they tried to provide. Elk Creek Camp is an amazing place and their staff is even better! Would 100% recommend!
Granted, it was the last day of the season and we got a primo spot on the creek, but goodness.....trash dumpster overflowing. Bathroom trash not collected for a long time. We have stayed in better locations and wonder if it might be better in the summer with the creek close by. Just kind a run down place which I see they are trying to fix with new fire pits. Such potential but too much money!
It was getting late in the day, saw the sign off the highway and thought why not. Oh dear, wish we had read the reviews - everything that wknielson said was true. $60 -you've got to be kidding, perhaps we were missing something but I don't think so.
Went camping here for a few nights in late June. We were lucky enough to secure a campsite on the creek, it was beautiful. We were there with an RV, so did not use the cabins. The camping sites for tents looked nice. This was a dog friendly location; but, take clean-up bags, there were none available. Also, the sites did not have much ground cover, so it is a little dusty. There is gravel on the roads. While the sites are somewhat close together, there was a sense of privacy. The staff are friendly and helpful; but, the office is only open in the evening, around 5. But, the site manager was available with his dog, Dexter. The restroom facilities could use an update; but, the toilets flushed, water was hot, and everything was operational. Besides, you're there to camp, not hang-out in the restroom facilities. Although, I did hear that there were lines in the morning for the women's showers. The campground is convenient to New Castle and the amenities there: restaurants, library, and grocery store. I would be comfortable recommending this campground to friends.…
I stayed two nights and was not happy. The space I was in was not level, it had zero gravel and had clumps of grass and dirt. When I went to dump my holding tanks I opened the black water valve and immediately it started overflowing where it went into the ground. Luckily I was paying attention and stopped the flow before it made a big mess. I went to the office and it was closed. I couldn't find anyone around to talk to and try to find another place to dump so I packed up and had to dump at another facility on my way home. The staff member I talked to when I checked in was friendly but I only seen her once in two days of stay. I paid $60.00 per night which is about $40.00 per night over what it should be and would not recommend this RV Park to anyone.
