We looked at this campground online and chose a "premium electric site" which appeared in their map to be along Chalk Creek (it was). What wasn't mentioned was the fact that our site was about 100' beneath a very busy highway - Colorado 285 which has heavy traffic most of the day and into the evening hours. We would not go back for this reason.
If I could give this place negative stars I would, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. First, you have to pay for a shower. No big deal, have had to do this before. But, they say you have to pay for a shower because it "helps them maintain cleaner facilities". Not the case, there were used bandages in the shower, the toilets were never flushed, there was never any toilet paper or soap in the dispensers. Nothing was ever good enough for the owners...kids didn't play in the creek the right place....didn't park in the right place. I would not recommend this place to anyone but I especially would not recommend this place for anyone with kids.
We were very happy with our campsite. We had one with shade. The campsites are a bit small, but level and the campground people rake and clean each campsite between tenants. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, you just have to pay for showers. Chalk Creek runs through the campground, but not near the campsites with full hookups unfortunately.
The Good: Place has great potential. Lots of nice trees and shade and Chalk Creek running by for a dozen or so camp sites. Lady in store and golf cart guide were very friendly and pleasant. The Bad: WiFi is poor to frustrating! The Ugly: Lower campground has 3 porta-potty’s located in the boonies on one side away from most of the sites. There is one a bit closer, however, It resembles a very old rotted-out tiny shed, inside and outside! Both, men’s and women’s side measure 4 by 4 feet, with a pad-locked door between. The men’s side has a urinal and toilet in that space. Virtually impossible to turn around without touching one or the other—and no hot water to wash up, in fact, no sink either! Very nasty! You need to hike up the hill if you want something better. That was the most gross and unacceptable thing I have ever seen at a campground! Recommend ownership put some $$ into this place and stop nickle & diming campers with pay showers!…
The spaces are not very big and they are close together. There is a lot of noise from the highway above the campsites. If you want to shower, it will cost two quarters for three minutes. We will not stay at Chalk Creek again!
