Beautiful place. Food, accommodations, activities, friendly staff... etc etc. Just an overall really great experience in the outdoors. Very fun. Different every day. Did not miss TV one bit (shockingly). Horses were great for any skill level - we were all novices. Our cabin was very clean and nice. Well worth the expense; just splurge you will be glad you did.

Never, ever have I had so much fun and adventure packed into one week. I visited the ranch during "adult week" and not only rode to my heart's content, I also learned to fly-fish, throw a lasso, roundup cattle, and went white-water rafting for the first time. Pretty good for 70++! Their horses are first class trail horses and very well cared for. The food is gourmet every meal. The setting of the ranch is exquisite, high in the Rockies (we received lots of instruction about coping with the altitude). The staff is enthusiastic and very caring, and, all in all, I'd give it a "10" if I could.

Our family returned to BMR for our third stay there. Once again, we had the best week of our holiday in this haven. Great food, lovely horses, amazing vistas, enough activities to keep us occupied and importantly an environment where not being frenetically engaged is fine too - never been so happy not to have a phone signal or limited wifi! The family feel of the place is what makes it so special : guests and wranglers staff feel as one while everything remains tip top : a remarkable balance to acheive. The number of returning guests, and members of staff who were guests as kids, are testament to the sound judgement and choices the owners have made in building the team and the ranch. Thanks as ever !

Just visited BMR for the second time and we plan to return in the future. Amazing scenery, family-run. As a long-time rider, it is important to me to know that the horses are well-cared for, healthy and fit. They take great care of their horses (and all animals). They also do a great job of matching your riding skill/needs to your partner horse for the week. I just wanted to take mine home! I so enjoyed the beautiful trail rides, overnight pack camp, dinner by Jake's lake and then returning to our lovely cabin at day's end. Socializing in the saloon was fun too, but optional of course. Everything is optional! They just want you to be happy. The meals are superb---3 square healthy meals per day and they are very accommodating. So much attention to detail---it's the little things that count. The wranglers, staff and owners are good people! I can't think of a downside to anything at BMR and I can't wait to return!

I’m a solo traveler who felt so very much at home on Black Mountain Ranch. Everyone who worked there was so kind and welcoming and really helped you make this a fantastic holiday. Everything was A+ : the food, the lodging, the activities, the saloon, the horses. I loved it so much that I plan on applying to work there next summer, which is a similar story to many of the current employees. If you’re looking for a dude ranch vacation, book BMR!
