This is the place I've dreamed of visiting my entire life! One of the best vacations EVER! The staff is amazing and the food was delicious. Sylvan Dale offers guests the opportunity to choose activities and do as much or as little as you prefer. Safety for guest AND horses is a priority at Sylvan Dale. It felt like home but with horses! Everyone knows your name by Day 2. The owners drove up the mountain to cook on open fires for the Overnight Trip and the Breakfast rides. Bring a hammock! I loved reading and napping in it when I wasn't riding. I also ended up sleeping in it on the Overnight Ride. I would have never guessed that I would want to sleep under the stars out in the woods but the weather was perfect for it. I was told that lack of standing water created the mosquito-free environment which was a game changer for me! From what I observed, the Children's Program was very well run and the kids all seemed thrilled to be there. I hope to make this a yearly adventure!…
My family has been coming to Sylvan Dale Ranch in Loveland, Colorado for 61 years. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains it is an absolute must visit destination. Whatever your vision, the Sylvan Dale family will make your dreams come true. Whether you love horses, swimming, fishing, archery, hiking, climbing, birding, singing, Campfires, yoga or even a relaxing massage this is where it all happens. Stay in your cabin and listen to the Big Thompson river and view the stars from your front porch rocking chair. Do not miss this heavenly location with all of the best amenities. Tell them the Johnson's sent you!
We did a trail ride at the end of November, gorgeous sunny but cold day. The ranch leaders were so great! We have several experience types of riders, some experienced and some that had never ridden a horse. The ride was gentle and sweet and just what we were all looking for. I will be coming here again, for sure!
Our 4th visit to Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, this time with 25! And for so many reasons!! This family run (and everyone is family once ypu arrive) ranch is beyond words spectacular. The scenery, love of the ranch hands, wranglers, the food, accommodations- all amazing. We had all levels of riders, all the food issues for the chef (we ranged feom vegan to meat lovers, gluten and nut allergies), ages ran literally 1 to 82- everyone was busy, full and happy. All we had to was enjoy wvery minute. The BEST family vacation ever!! Come as ypur family, leave as part of the Sylvan Dale family.
Went on the 2-hour horseback ride. Had a great wrangler, awesome horses, and beautiful scenery. Sylvan Dale is a long-term historical treasure in this area. Any chance to just be on the property is a relaxing and amazing time.
Our group was two grandparents with three grandchildren ages 12, 10, and 6. Everyone of us was made to immediately feel at home by Susan, the owner, and her wonderful staff. The kids loved the fact that they got to spend the morning with Lori, the head wrangler, and some of the other wranglers in kids' riding camp. tThey definitely shed some tears when they had to say goodbye to the horses they had been paired with at the end of the week. My husband and I were perfectly matched with our horses. I would suggest that anyone wanting to participate in the riding program spend some time and effort in filling out the questionaire that the ranch sends about your riding experience, because the people who pair you with your horse obviously pay close attention to what you write and do a fantastic job! We were all so pleased that we got to go on beautiful long rides, including a breakfast ride to the top of a ridge, as well as to try our hands at cattle sorting and some rodeo skills. At the end of the week, all the kids and any adults who signed up participated in a gymkana, which was an absolute blast, both to watch nd to participate in. In addition to riding, we, including the kids, could sign up the day before for a long list of activities, including fishing, skeet shooting, art, massages--too many to list. Or we could take it easy and go swimming in the heated pool, or read, or go for a hike. Every night there was an after dinner activitiy --softball, square dancing, campfire singing. Susan has a gift for getting people past any hesitations they might have to joining in. The food was wonderful and plentiful. Some of our personal favorites were breakfast pancakes, a turkey dinner with killer mashed potatoes, the strawberry shortcake on square dancing night, and the fresh churned icecream after softball.…
I grew up with horses and always had at least one. I had always wanted to go to a Dude Ranch for the experience. My husband who has only ridden a few times and I as an experienced rider enjoyed riding together on the different trails. They matched you up to a horse, based on your riding experience. Everyone that works on the ranch were great. The food was delicious. There is something there for everyone, riding, fishing, shooting, and more. We went during “Grown up Getaway” week in August. There were about 26 of us from all over the country, with all different riding levels. It was nice to meet and get to know them all. I knew the day that we check out to head home, that we were going back next year, and I have already book it. We cannot wait and this time our daughter will be joining us.…
Sylvan Dale is a truly special place for families and for couples. I came here as a kid, and it was an unforgettable experience coming back here with our own kids. The team is exceptional, and they accommodate for riders of all skill levels. It really says a lot that so many of the guests each time are repeat guests and families! That tells you all you need to know. The food and the accommodations are very good - it's not a luxury resort, but it isn't meant to be! Sylvan Dale is one of those places that's hard to describe but impossible to forget. I cannot recommend highly enough making this a place for your family vacations.
What a lovely place to spend some time fulfilling childhood dreams! The people are wonderful, the scenery is beautiful, and the horses couldn't be better! I traveled alone and met some awesome women my week at the ranch during Cowgirl Week. Lots of fun activities to partake, and as much down time as you wish. The riding was great and as challenging as you want. The trip up into the mountains for the overnight camp out was so much fun, and made for great memories! The food was excellent and abundant. A great place I hope to return to someday!!
Sylvan Dale was a great place for my first dude ranch experience. The cottages are nice and have comfortable beds, the food was amazing; and each ranch hand was nicer than the next. You get a real sense of family at this place. One night a few of us hung out in the main lodge to watch a movie and Susan Jessup made us popcorn! The night we did line dancing was lots of fun and our instructor was the best! All their horses are beautiful and well cared for. There were many options for riding each day. I was a little disappointed that the rides were not separated by riding ability, but it was still lots of fun doing the breakfast ride and the overnight ride to the camp. I made some new friends and my daughter and I got to spend some quality time together. Thanks Sylvan Dale!…
