We read reviews and got an idea that this might be a place we'd like to stay, and it was. The place has artifacts up and down the halls, some even being pretty interesting. The room we stayed in was fairly small, but not unlike what Doc Holiday or Molly Brown would have experienced during Leadville boom times. I may... More

Our visit was fantastic, the room was lovely, a suite with 2 bedrooms and jack n Jill bath. The employees were outstanding, I asked where we could get coffee at 4am and they said they would have it ready for us early in the breakfast area. They not only had coffee but the entire breakfast spread easy for us and... More

The whole place is set up like a period-based museum. Each room has some special elements, along with everything needed for a clean, quiet stay. An enormous amount of work was put into bringing this cool building in the middle of town into service as a modern-day hotel. Very impressive.

This is a well maintained historic hotel which was as much museum as hotel. The hallways are crammed with antiques, to the point it is almost overwhelming. The bedrooms in the suite we stayed in were large, but the bathroom was incredibly cramped. This was not unexpected, given the age of the hotel. A word of warning - if you... More

We came for a night at The Delaware. The hotel was fine -- antique, a bit quirky, but everything worked and the (heavy continental) breakfast was nice -- cereal, yogurt, breads, hardboiled eggs, juice, coffee. BUT the highlight was our two tours with Roger -- we did the walking ghost tour on Friday night and the mine tour on Saturday... More

The hotel is pre-1900 but updated where it counts in modern plumbing. The bath room was small but adequate. Our room with two queen beds was large enough for our two adults and two teens and room to open and store luggage. The staff were friendly and one was helpful to answer questions about local sites. The housekeepers we talked... More

clean, comfortable historic hotel. nothing fancy, simple rooms filled with well worn antique furniture and refinished antiques decorate the halls and common areas. stayed on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and enjoyed 10' ceilings w/windows all the way to the ceiling, mountain views. perfect location in Leadville, smack dab downtown and about 10 min from Mt Elbert north trailhead. we... We really wanted to like the hotel, and did for the most part. The old knickknacks and eccentric objects throughout the lobby and hallways were interesting. The room was small, but comfortable with a bit of a slant to the floor. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the parking was 1/2 block away, and the hotel... More

2.5 stars. An interesting hotel, no question about that. Lots of history, decorations, and knick-knacks galore. I found myself there because I was passing through on my way from Rocky Mountain National Park to Santa Fe, not for skiing as most others do. The antique decor of the hotel is not my speed at all but I don't take that... More

The Delaware isn't the place for persnickety travelers, but for those willing to put up with its old-fashioned funkiness, a one-night stay can prove to be both relaxing and enjoyable. The lobby and guest floors are chock-full of knickknacks and eccentric objects (a life-size Santa looms threateningly in one alcove like the ugly twins from "The Shining"). Floors creak, staircases... More
