My wife and I went for the adults-only week at the ranch and left our kids at home. We had such an incredible time. It was our first time at Latigo Ranch. Randy, Lisa, and their entire family and crew could not have been more friendly, informative, or fun. We have been on ranch vacations before. I am used to a wrangler or two knowing my name, but I was amazed that the George family and all of the staff knew everyone and treated you like family. Of course, the rides were great and you can't beat the scenery. I could go on for hours about the delicious food - I was so impressed! I own a horse and ride a lot. I have to say, the horses on the ranch are pretty incredible. I can't wait to return to Latigo in the future.
Once again, Latigo Ranch showed us what a wonderful vacation should be. 2021 was our third visit; last time was 2012. As great as our recollections were about our previous visits, this most recent visit topped them all. The basics of the guest ranch experience are there, with horseback riding opportunities every day. The staff will accommodate you with a horse that suits your experience and the type of riding you want to do — walk, trot, lope. If you wish to work on your horsemanship, the staff will give you all the attention and guidance you want — in an arena and/or out on the trail. Latigo Ranch has virtually unlimited riding trails, as they can access the adjacent National Forest. If you’re experienced and adventurous, you won’t be bored — some of the trails are a bit challenging. The accommodations are very good — clean and comfortable, though not opulent. The meals are also good — solid, plentiful, and in a pleasant setting. Since our last visit, Latigo Ranch has added some fun non-riding activities such as rifle and shotgun shooting as well as rock climbing. So they’re always looking to improve the guest experience. Latigo Ranch is a family owned and operated business, and they try to make their guests feel like family. I just wish we lived closer, to make it easier to go more often.…
We recently returned from Latigo Ranch, and we have been sad ever since! It was the best family vacation we have ever had. My 3 children would have stayed the entire summer. The George family was incredibly hospitable, and all of the staff and wranglers were outstanding. The food was amazing, the setting was beautiful, and the horseback riding was a fantastic experience. We were each paired with a horse for the week and became very confident riders thanks to Hannah and the wranglers’ teaching. The cabins were very clean and comfortable. The ranch is rustic, but extremely comfortable and well run. Thank you to Lisa and Randy for such an awesome experience!
Randy and Lisa run a first rate outfit. Every guest receives individual attention from food choices to what type of personality you would like in your horse. They supply you with everything, including sun screen and insect repellent. They also have cowboy hats and boots to loan, if need be. They provide excellent horsemanship instruction for us newbies, and enough wranglers to keep an eye on us during rides. And if you get tired of riding, they offer plenty of other activities to keep you entertained such as fly fishing, skeet shooting, rock climbing or river rafting. And of course you can always kick back and relax on the patio and enjoy the idyllic scenery. I would be remiss if I did not mention the food. Be prepared to gain weight! The food is plentiful and incredible!! Spencer is an awesome chef. You will not be disappointed.…
A lovely gem in the Rocky Mountains! Five-Star ranch family - Randy & Lisa George, Hanna, Spencer & Amanda - so generously opens their gates to sublime beauty, gracious hospitality, a gorgeous herd of 70 well-cared for horses, and a desire for their guests to have such a memorable trip that one can not wait to rebook before you leave this remarkable place! As a first-time horse rider, I couldn’t have felt more safe and secure in the expert care of Latigo Ranch’s group of young wranglers. They helped me to become a competent, beginner rider by assuring me during hoof beats and neighs that I was “Doin’ great!!”. Safety in riding is paramount for Latigo’s owners and attested to by Randy’s “Four Horseshoe” analogy to safety on the ranch and while riding horses. Latigo’s mindful stance of the guest experience considers an overlap of fun; a guest’s safety; attention to the care and welfare of the herd, and, the horse each rider is assigned; and, the safety of everyone in the group you ride with. I knew from first day on that I was in good hands which made my rides that much more enjoyable and beyond learning expectations. Activities are plentiful and can satisfy several outdoor interests from fly fishing to simply swinging on the Lodge’s porch swing while admiring stunning mountain views. You might even catch the wranglers moving the horse herd down to pasture, which is nothing short of magnificent to watch. You definitely work up an appetite during your stay at Latigo Ranch and special attention must be paid to this element of your dude ranch vacation! The food is outstanding and exquisitely presented. Who would think that five-star dining would meet the rugged west?! You must experience this to appreciate it! Beautiful salads, main courses, and premiere desserts will satisfy your appetite. And, food portions are generous from start to finish! Latigo’s dining staff’s attention to detail and gracious service makes you feel welcome. Their smiles, greetings, and desire to know your name after first meeting you will warm your heart and soul. I’ve never experienced such genuine hospitality and friendship in my travels! My sister and I loved our Latigo Dude Ranch vacation so much that we booked for 2022 before we left! Many thanks to Randy and Lisa, their family, and magnificent staff - hospitality and wranglers - for making our first trip one of the best vacations that my sister and I have ever had!…
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The entire staff, wranglers to housekeeping and everyone in between are all wonderful. The cabins are comfy, the food is amazing, the horses (and other animals) are well taken care of and the entire ranch in general is well maintained. Lisa and Randy have thought of many little details that really stand out and they are great people. I highly recommend Latigo!
I never book a resort, hotel or vacation without reading the reviews from Tripadvisor. I did the same thing when I booked Latigo Ranch for my family - our three grown kids with their spouses. What I read were all positive reviews. Now I know why - I have been to many places around the world. Latigo Ranch is one place I will never forget. First, it is owned and run by the George family. If you have read any other Latigo reviews you will see how people rave of their hospitality....well its absolutely true. Just being among a family that works together to make their guests and their staff happy is unique and special. The week vacation was flawless in terms of the flow of activities - there is something to do for everyone, even if they want to it at different times. Now, for the food.......incredible talent by the lead chef who is part of the family and his wife, 5 star quality. If you like to ride horses, this is your place. The head wrangler, Hannah George is enthusiastic and accommodating to make sure your experience on the trails is exactly the experience you want. The wrangler staff, the kitchen staff and the maintenance staff were a group of college-aged students who were always ready to help and respectable. If you get the chance to experience Latigo Ranch - do it. Dont waste your time looking at other ranches....this is the one to experience,. We created family memories that wont ever be forgotten. Thanks Latigo and the George family.…
Latigo Ranch is truly a magical little spot nestled in the mountains. I went up for a weekend to Nordic ski, and was blown away by everything. First, the family owned ranch is legit, and run by the SWEETEST family. They could not have been more kind and accommodating. Second, the FOOD! I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much in the food department from a dude ranch, but wow. I might go back just for the food. They cater to any dietary restrictions and it will blow your mind how delicious everything is. The meals might have actually been the highlight. That or the barn tour with Hannah learning all about the yaks and horses and donkeys. I can’t say enough great things about this place. It may be pricey, but it is definitely worth it. I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back for a week in the summer. …
Just wow, where do I begin First, the ranch it self, cozy cabins equipped with everything you need and fresh, homemade caramel corn every day. On the ranch grounds ,they have the Social Club, a 3 story log building filled with a hot tub, pool tables, fooseball, tons of games and a library on the top floor. And then there are the views, stunning vistas of distanced mountains and valleys, not to mention the aspen filled grounds. On top of all this they have 50 miles of groomed ski trails, thru some of the most pristine, beautiful valleys and hills. Then there is the food.- OMG, 5 star dining, you will not go hungry here, 3 meals and snacks everyday. every meal was superb, from the first course to the last. It would take a separate review just to describe the food here. Finally, there is the staff, from the owners, Randy & Lisa, their family to their employees. I have never experienced such service and genuine hospitality as I encountered here. Randy & Lisa, are some of the most honest, friendly and just plain nice, owners ever. You may be a stranger when you come here, but guaranteed you will leave a friend, and also 10 lbs. heavier!…
This was my first time at a Dude Ranch, I have researched ranches for years but this year it just made sense to give it a try. So glad I did Latigo was the absolute right choice. It is a beautiful ranch, immaculately clean and kept. The perfect blend of rustic surroundings with wonderfully prepared gourmet meals. With the COVID situation I had concerns about traveling, however being outside all day and in a private cabin other times made sense. Latigo was very careful to follow all safety measures including temperature every morning, social distancing and masks always indoors. That made me very comfortable with my choice. The George family could not have been more accommodating , the staff always there to make you comfortable and the young ranglers so impressive in their skill and attitude that I was in awe. We were there during an adults only week which was perfect for us, but I was imagining my grandchildren enjoying the facility all week. I really feel that I learned how to ride a horse and understand what my horse was thinking and feeling. I have ridden before but I realize now that I have ridden on a horse before.. this time I rode with my horse. Great instruction for full enjoyment and safety of rider and horse. I appreciate that. Great trip. I hope my travels bring me back…
