We spotted this place on the beach whilst having our first beer on the beach at arugam bay. I noted that the staff in the restaurant next to it were eating his pizza so we moved camp and ordered the best woodfire pizza equal to any cafe in italy. We returned for lunch the next day and tried the pesto spag and the al' amatriciano. This chef from milano absolutely nails these dishes. It appears he has married into a SL family as the owner and all other family members were SL. The bar there is run by the owners son Johnny who is a great laugh and makes sure the beer is always ice cold.We again returned for dinner and tried 2 more pastas and we were hooked on this little slice of italy in SL - only to find out that they were shutting the doors and flying back to milan the next day - apparently its a seasonal gig for these guys. We were just lucky to be there at the right time! We'll be back next open season!

We pre-booked 4 nights but stayed just 1 and moved. The owner was very pleasant but this was not enough. The garden view was of an alley, the room was not clean and the bathroom poorly ventilated, dirty and smelly. The primary business appears to be the beachside restaurant and the rooms not a priority. Arugam Bay is a hot place and there was very little shade provided - only 2 sheets strung up on poles. The room was overpriced and for the amount charged there are much much better options available nearby.
