At Hideaway, we are small enough to get to know you personally and big enough to give you room to breathe. We've opened the doors of this magical place we've lovingly called home for 30 years and we invite you to join us here and discover its very special charm. Hideaway is primarily a family owned and run entity and has its own distinct personality and style of service and is not for everyone. The relaxed and homely atmosphere has a certain panache and all our guests receive sensitive and personalised attention. Hideaway comprises 14 rooms in total: four double rooms and one triple room within the main villa, three family bungalows, four double bungalows and two air-conditioned double rooms - all discretely situated within the resort's gardens, furnished with a rustic charm that will nourish your mind and soul. We are now delighted to provide our guests with facilities for wellness and healing. We have added a pool, yoga pavilion and treatment center - the latter two operate daily during the season. Let us feed your body too! The quality of our cuisine is renowned for miles around and we are proud to share it with our guests and visitors. Our inviting restaurant, open for a relaxed breakfast, lunch and dinner, delivers the finest gastronomic encounters, courtesy of Sharon and her skilled team and carefully selected ingredients. Whatever your reason for visiting Arugam Bay, we have the knowledge and a whole host of local contacts to ensure you make the most of your stay.

We were a group staying at JetwingSurf Pottuvil and keen to experience Arugambay in the evening . To our luck we were told of an excellent Restaurent in Arugambay by another guest at the Hotel and there we were at “Hideaway”. A family run Restaurent with fine food and atmosphere and to our surprise a well know Sri Lankan artist on the mike . A memorable evening no doubt .

We stayed at Hideaway Resort for two weeks with our two children aged six and nine. We then travelled half way across Sri Lanka to go back for my birthday. It’s that good! We liked everything about hideaway. Staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. So are the owners and the guys who work at the bar. Friendly and helpful is a theme here. The place itself is great. Breakfast is fantastic. Everything is delicious. There is a really nice pool out the back. The bar and evening is family friendly and serves great pizza. I use a wheelchair and I’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff who helped me so often during my stay. It is no way wheelchair friendly but that didn’t matter with so many people offering their help. Arugam Bay is a great place to spend some time and we’d highly recommend Hideaway resort.

It was my first time in Arugambay. Stayed three nights in a A/C Bunglow. It was a beautiful experience at this beautiful place. They were so welcoming and super friendly. The food was so yummy and had a class of its own. They were really generous with the portions. The staff was well trained, well mannered, really friendly yet so professional. The cafe at front is a great place to hangout with a beer and at night the bar starts it’s magic. DJ or awesome solo by the superstar Jeremy , man he’s gooood. Thank you for all the entertainment my friend you rock. Sharon the owner was a sweet lady she always goes out of her way to make sure the guests are happy so was the manager Carolyn. Dinusha and Mathi looked after us like family. Everyone there made us feel at home and took good care of us. A big thumbs up to the Team Hideaway for the outstanding service and keep up the good work. Cheers..

We were there in the low season and had the place to ourselves - unfortunately we only stayed one night! Staff were great and we had a lovely cabana, sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. After good breakfast we were sorry to leave!

We absolutely loved our time at the Hideaway! The grounds are incredible with tons of luscious plants that are beautifully maintained. Our cabana was amazing. Spacious, sparkling clean with fun tropical touches like a beautiful handmade quilt on the bed, fresh tropical flowers in the bathroom and main cabana and touches of bright colors throughout. We spent 3 nights at the Hideaway at the end of our trip and truly felt like we were fully able to unwind and relax there. We ate breakfast every day at their amazing café with delicious coffee, fresh juices and smoothies and bomb food (both local and Western options). Their bar has an epic happy hour from 6-8 with yummy BOGO drinks and the restaurant was some of the best food we had during our entire trip. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool on the back of the property and took a yoga class one morning which was quite relaxing. Their service was also impeccable with very helpful staff. We became close with a few of the employees there during our short stay - we loved Mathy and Hetti! Would 100% recommend and stay again!
