I was just at Motherwell Ranch over the weekend for an incredible photography retreat by Jennifer Thoreson which was absolutely wonderful. But what made this experience above and beyond what I could have ever expected was the staff at Motherwell Ranch. Every single person there is 100% committed to making your time there enjoyable and as easy as possible. The food is incredible (thank you, Mark!) and Brian, Gary, Josh, & Tiffany were incredibly helpful. The property is incredible. Absolutely incredible. You will love every moment of your experience here. Try the tents! You get the experience of a tent with the comfort of a cabin! Loved my time there and miss it already.

Working in the outdoor recreation and service industry I tend to notice the difference between a well run facility and just your average getaway. Fact is, I was blown away with how well this ranch was run, the accommodations, amenities, service and quality of the food. Their executive chef was not only personable but provided us with incredible meals. The lodge and the property were clean, tidy and BEAUTIFUL! I cannot say enough about the property either, incredible views on a secluded mountain surrounded by elk, deer and other wildlife. If you are a fan of the outdoors and want all the luxuries of a resort with the seclusion of a quaint cabin then the motherwell is definitely worth a visit. I am looking at coming back for a family reunion or bringing my employees up for a corporate retreat.

I spent a long weekend at Motherwell Ranch for a creative retreat. My friend and I arrived around the same time (from separate parts of the country) and we were shuttled from the Denver airport by Clay, who gave us a preview of the hospitality we were going to be treated to at Motherwell. Clay's anecdotes made the five hour trip to Motherwell fly by and made me forget that this person was a virtual stranger earlier that day. The last leg of our journey was to drive up the mountain to the lodge. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you feel like the trip to the sky will be never ending but it does end and your destination is a beautiful log lodge at the mountaintop. My group arrived very late in the evening and unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the mountain view at that late hour. :( After our arrival we were escorted to one of the luxury tents at the edge of the mountainside right in the middle of an aspen grove. As a courtesy the tents were lit up, glowing in the inky darkness of night like huge tent shaped fireflies. We were escorted inside to find a not-so-much-roughing-it tent experience: inside were two king beds, heavy comforters, running water (the tent even had a slate tiled shower!), electricity (!) and a thoughtful assortment of treats for us as a courtesy from Motherwell's staff. In the morning we awoke to breathtaking views of aspen and pine trees on our tent deck (replete with a log bench to sit & take in the view). The sun light streaming through the aspens and lighting up our tent with beautiful light and shadows. To experience a stay in the great outdoors in this beautiful part of the country so close to nature: the luxury tents are THE way to truly experience Motherwell Ranch. The hospitality experienced at Motherwell Ranch is unparalleled. The staff ensured that we enjoyed ourselves and attended to our every need. Clay, Brian, Jackson - all worked as a team to ensure our stay, our meals, our entire experience was fun and most importantly: memorable. They each became an integral part of our group and are tied in with my memories of my experience at Motherwell. Brian's and Clay's love of Motherwell and the rugged land on which it sits is apparent in each of their tales and I enjoyed their expertise (and their appreciation for the art we were creating there over that weekend). We couldn't have tailor made a better experience for this retreat. I am so happy I was fortunate enough to experience Motherwell and hope that you choose to stay there. You will not be sorry (and you may make a lifetime friend or two). If it sounds like I only have beautiful things to say about this remarkable place: it's true, I do.

There for a photo retreat, I went alone spending three days in one of the most beautiful settings our country has to offer and leaving content, inspired, and a little heavier (great food and drink). Being picked up by Clay (one of the ranch staff) at the Denver Airpot, the five hour drive was eased by the good company of Clay and fellow passengers. Arriving at night I did not have any real idea where I was until waking the next day. Words will not do it justice but think mountain lake, untouched forest, and crystal clear skies. A genuine retreat. There are a few different accommodations but I stayed in a luxury tent (permanent tent with its own bathroom and king sized beds). Others stayed in rooms in the main lodge which were also very nice but I enjoyed the feel of camping without any of the negatives. Food and drink were plentiful and very well prepared to the tastes of the guests (compliments to Jackson, he is an expert). What makes Motherwell was the staff. Clay, Brian, and Jackson exude their appreciation for nature, their love of the ranch, and desire to infect each guest with this same vision. They became an integral part of our group, more friends than resort staff; more family than ranch hands. Motherwell allowed us to focus and learn from one of the finest photographers of our time in an intimate, serene, yet luxurious setting, staff and guests leaving forever friends.

I attended a retreat over a long weekend at the Motherwell Ranch and I cannot imagine a more wonderful place to relax and unwind. The staff is incredible, the food is amazing and the location is a dream. It is worth the long drive from Denver! I stayed in one of the luxury tents, and it was amazing. I highly recommend the Motherwell Ranch to anyone who is looking for a luxury getaway!
