This is the second time we stayed here and we will defiantly stay here again next time. There is no need to look for any place else. It is situated right as you enter Grand Lake, a bit higher than the rest of the town. Since it is a bit removed from main down town it is quieter (which we like) and you get better view. Walking to town is just about 0.7 mile which we did a few time with ease. It is also only a 5 minute drive to Kaweneeche Visitor Center and RNMP enterance.
The room was spotless with not a single mark on the walls and floor that looked like they had just be shined that week. We had a king room which had plenty of space and included a small table with 2 chairs, 2 large bedside tables with lighting, phone, clock radio, heater, air conditioner, small refrig, single cup coffee maker with coffee packs and cups, large dresser and space to hand coats, shirt, etc. The bathroom as large with a full tub/shower combo, plenty of fluffy towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the show and soap and lotion dispensers at the sink. Our room also include a small balcony with 2 chair and small table with views of the mountains and a bit of a view of the lake.
We stayed during covid so they did not clean your room during the stay but they gladly provided you with anything you need as the front desk. Everyone wore masks when in the hotel as required. This hotel also just received a new hot tub that was available from 9am - 10pm, they have a small gym and sauna. The sauna was closed at the time due to covid.
There is a restaurant with full bar in the hotel O-A Bistro with both in door and out door seating with great views of the mountains and some of the lake. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was quite good and reasonable. We only had dinner there once but that dinner was fairly mediocre.
The service throughout was great. We will be staying here again next time we visit RMNP.

You can't beat the location - it's just a five minute drive to the park entrance. Beds were comfy and the hotel was quiet so we slept well before our park adventures the next day. WiFi is SLOW and we weren't willing to pay extra for the "fast" internet that promised speeds up to 8 MBPS. Staff were really friendly and the beds were comfy, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the cleanliness of the place. For convenience near the park, it's worth the trip, but some rooms are clearly better than others, as ours had views of the parking lot, not the lake or mountains, and we paid a pretty penny.

Gateway Inn is a nice place to stay, rooms have everything you need the people running this place are so nice and accommodating. The issues are Parking during the winter not enough spaces for guests. The Bistro we had Dinner and service great, food was overpriced and no flavor for pasta we ended up paying $56 for 2 pasta dishes, small salad and water no wonder they only had 2 couples dinning also heard the other couple dishes were bland as well. Won't reccomend dinning there. But really nice Inn.

This should be one of the nicest hotels in the area. Unfortunately, it isn't. The people who own or manage the hotel clearly have no idea what they're doing.
The only positives I can say are big, spacious rooms, well-decorated, nice large TV, and ample parking. That's it.
Staff were useless. I arrive early and my room wasn't ready. No big deal. The front desk said they would call me when it was ready. Come 4:30 pm, nobody called. When I arrived there early the front desk suggested I made reservations for dinner at the hotel restaurant but, of course, the restaurant was closed and the front desk claimed they couldn't make reservations for me.
When I came back around 4:30 pm, my room was ready. I was given a queen even though I was by myself and had a king. They claimed all the rooms were occupied even though the parking lot was mostly empty. Whatever.
My room would have been fine had it been clean, but it wasn't clean. Hair all over bathtub-shower, hair on floor, hair in sink, and hair on sink countertop. I went down to the front desk to complain and looked for staff. None were dressed in uniform so you had a difficult time telling who was actually hotel staff. Eventually, three staff came up to my room to inspect as if they didn't believe me that is was dirty. About 20 minutes later, a lady and her daughter came to the room. I presume she was the housekeeper. She brought a cloth and a spray bottle. She barely cleaned anything because her daughter kept telling her she was missing hairs. When she finished and left I noticed she never cleaned the hair from the bathtub-shower.
The front desk never offered anything for the inconvenience. I ended up checking out early and went to a much cleaner and better run hotel.
As for the restaurant, it was completely empty the couple times I walked by it. Not exactly an appealing place to eat.
With better owners and management, this could be a great hotel.

First off I was optimistic because the outside makes it feel grand... it’s not. The inside is disgusting and the front staff are not friendly. Kitchen and bar staff didn’t wear a mask and apologized but still didn’t put one one. With no other vacancy in town we took out chances. The room was average but needed a thorough cleaning.. no microwave and there’s maybe 5 open restaurants in town who don’t answer their phones due to staffing. we opted for a dinner in their restaurant if you wanna call it that....
We saw three things on the menu.
Steak bites.
Cheeseburger and chicken strips.
We figured you can’t mess up a cheeseburger and fries right? Wrong. Frozen patty and freezer burnt fries.
The lady asked why we only took one bite and we told her... she seemed unapologetic and still charged us.
Don’t waste your money. If it’s for a night and it’s this place or your car then do it but do not have high expectations like I did.

The Gateway Inn is a little quirky, but clean and comfortable and the people are very welcoming. The rooms are huge, the beds squidgy which made for a great night’s sleep. The bathroom has a large shower and huge bottles of products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturiser) with plenty of towels available.
Food and drink are managed by another organisation (so you need to pay separately), but happy hours (4 - 6) are certainly worth stopping by for and again the people are really friendly.

I pad $165 plus tax for a room that was very average. The bed was not properly made and the sheets were of low quality. The comforter had seen better days and was pilly. The blinds and window sill had a coat of dust on them. It is not a quiet hotel - lots of noise from other rooms. I mentioned these things and the woman at the front desk offered me 10% off, but a manager came over and said "I'm not giving you 10% off on the second night!" I explained I was only there for one night and the discount was not that a big a deal, but the cleanliness was. He said, "We only deep-clean twice a year and we are understaffed." During the time of COVID, I was shocked to hear they do not deep clean at least weekly. Glad I had brought my own antiseptic wipes.

I wanted to like it. It was very loud and hard to sleep. The bed was very uncomfortable. When I took a shower in the morning there was hair on the walls. We tried the restaurant on-site for breakfast in the morning. Don’t get the oatmeal; I thought it is hard to make a mistake with oatmeal but it tasted like glue and I couldn’t take more than 2 bites. My kids got the Benedict and enjoyed it. The coffee was okay. I’m not sure what was happening at breakfast with the older gentleman asleep in the corner of the restaurant and the playpen but it left a very unprofessional impression.

Friendly, helpful staff and clean rooms made this an ideal stay for us. We were even upgraded to a balcony room upon check in! The room was furnished in "cabin" style -- lots of bear and moose decor and lodge pole furniture. VERY CUTE. Bed was super comfy. The hotel is about a mile from the RMNP gate. Beautiful views of the mountains and Shadow Mountain Lake. A family of yellow-bellied marmots were hanging out in the rocks surrounding the hotel and we enjoyed watching them scramble and listening to them whistle. There were hummingbirds galore. It would be a bit of walk to "downtown" Grand Lake (perhaps a mile) but we didn't mind. The hotel sits on a hill and has an outdoor patio area with killer views. Highly recommend this place!

We walked in to find pee on the seat and blood on the sheets but yet the bed was made and the Covid “We deep cleaned your room” sign was out. After telling management what we found, they admitted they were short staffed and must have missed cleaning the room (but yet the bed was made). They tried to pass off used sheets because the staff was overworked.
We were totally grossed out and had no place to go at midnight, so we accepted new sheets, a room clean, a discount, and a wonderful breakfast. That was nice, but I don’t think this negligence is right, and it’s not easily corrected with a discount just because we caught them.
It’s a nice place and I’d recommend it otherwise, but what they’re doing is beyond gross. I wouldn’t stay there again.
This is a wake-up call to what could be happening in the hotel world. We’re scrutinizing everything each time we stay at a hotel in the future.

No horseback riding in the winter, but there is snowmobiling and at the nordic center there are many other options.
It depends on where you access it. The best place to go is at the end of town you take a right and a large park is right next to the lake. That would be about a mile from the hotel.
Hello,
We are within walking distance to the Theatre and availability depends on the date. We do book up in the summer so please check with us as soon as you can on your preferred dates.
It is up and working now! Just had a company service it so all should be good for a while.
We are about 1 mile from the west entrance to RMNP
