We'd never been to Colorado, so we reserved the Black Bear Lodge based on reviews and pictures. We stayed in room #28, which is at the end of the building, providing extra peace and quiet and a great view of the mountains. We had 2 rooms with plenty of space to sleep 7. The room was clean, but the bathroom... More

My kids and I have been staying here for our Summer vacations for the past 3 years. The kind and wonderful couple that own the place have been doing the right thing in re-investing in their property to make the rooms nicer each year. The rooms are very clean, the wifi is exceptional (we were able to utilize Netflix from... More

Nice kitchen set up in the room we chose. It was nice to have a fridge. Nice TV. Wifi was good. We didn't realize that there was no AC in the motel room and it got warm during the day. The beds were comfortable. There were a few stains on the towels and the hot water ran out each time... More

Clean, quiet & comfortable. The property also has a pool which is very well kept as well as a hot tub. Owners are very nice people. We have been coming to the black bear for years and love our stays every time.

Nice room, kitchen set up. Beautiful vista with lake across the street. Didn't use the pool or hot tub but they were available. Owners very friendly and helpful to answer phone calls and emails before the stay and during the stay. Nice breakfast with homemade banana bread!

The lodge is good for day or two if travel in Grand lake country. The rooms are clean, towels are exceptional, beds and pillows are comfy and pool and sauna are welcome after day of hiking. The bathrooms are small, front of the lodge, parking and entrance road is dirt generating a dust, and main road (and related traffic noise)... More

Clean, quiet, comfortable room. "Continental" breakfast included homemade banana bread and homemade jams/jellies. Owners were very nice, speaking to each guest staying at the motel. Heated pool (a little cool for myself), nice indoor hot tub and sauna. Right across from beautiful lake and VERY close to Rocky Mountain National Park.

I stayed here since it was close to Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms were large and very clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, much better than many other places I've stayed. I stayed in July, and the rooms were not hot or warm at all, making for a comfortable night's sleep(they don't have AC). There's very little... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night and enjoyed the pool, sauna and hot tub. Rooms were comfortable and clean and owners were very nice. It is in a great location near RMNP and the town of Grand Lake.

My wife and I stayed here July 5 - 8, 2016. We came from Rocky Mountain National Park (AWSOME), Highway 34 on July 5. We were surprised how nice our room was when we first walked in our room. The room had 2 rooms; the first room with 2 single beds, TV, kitchen counter with sink, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee... More
