A quick overnight stay while heading back east after several days in the national parks at Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Very fresh, clean modern rooms, comfortable bed and amenities. Like most motels these days, you are advised that if you smoke in a non-smoking room or really dirty up the room you will get nailed for a cleaning charge, sometimes as high $250. On that note, I was disappointed that there was no luggage rack cradle to place my luggage, so one would have to place it on the small desk like area under the TV or on the other bed. So spend a few dollars for luggage cradles for the rooms to avoid beds getting dirty from luggage placed in them. Also it would have been nice to have a small desk and chair to sit at to do work or read. There is room for these.

We absolutely LOVED this little inn/motel. It has been freshly updated, and you can tell. We met the owner, and he could not have been nicer or more helpful. The room was clean and quiet and exceeded our needs. There is a single washer and dryer right on the property, and we used it! While not within walking distance to historic Glenwood Springs, this inn is just about 5-7 minutes from the town. We absolutely loved it.

We have always wanted to stay at this motel, attracted to the view and ability to park close by in front of your room. The property is very clean, updated and nice. Window coverings are replaced with shutters, and windows that actually open if you like fresh air. We like that there is no smoking on the property and no pets. The beds were very comfortable with nice pillows. No carpeting, so the room smelled fresh and clean with laminate flooring. The shower was nice. The view is beautiful, but not if your room is right in front of the staircase.

The following comments are no big deal, but worth mentioning: no breakfast available. There are no hangers in the freestanding wardrobe closet, no hooks on the wall for jackets, swimming suits or beach towels. No clock in the room. No extra blankets. The TV is very small and not mounted on the wall, so it sets very low. No table or chair in the room. In room 117, the bathroom vent did not work and a lightbulb was burned out above the sink. They were a little skimpy on towels. And the toilet runs a long time after flushing. One of our windows did not have a screen. The nightstand lamp base was dusty.

The office hours and voicemail system could be improved, along with outdated info on the website. There are resident dogs in the manager’s living premises which bark loudly when guests are checking in. It was loud enough to be annoying if your room is near the office.

We might try this property again, but know that there are dozens of other choices in Glenwood Springs.

Extremely clean room, super comfortable bed, two very important qualities in my book. I also like a small refrige, good water pressure, drive up (first floor) for easy unpacking, and quiet. It is located on I-70 but once you enter the room it was very quiet. Even the air conditioner was quiet. We enjoyed the Adirondack chairs next to our door, while the I-70 noise is loud, we sat and ate our dinner. The front desk supplied us with paper plates and plastic knives and forks. This little mom&pop hotel is an excellent value.

The hotel is good, but the experience with the owner was not.
I rent for November-April at the beginning, one day I came back at 1am and the key was not active. After many calls the owner Monica, she answered. She said it was my problem because the key was “active” for the whole month, when of course it was not. She wanted to charge $50 for someone to come and open, this never happens, and I had to sleep in my car that night, it was cold and snowing outside.
She never gave a compensation for the inconvenience. The solution was “ at 9am its someone coming to give you new keys”.
Another time I asked to invite my sister for 1 night and she told me it’s $50 for an extra person for the week, and she never answered me back when I ask if for one night I had to pay.
For the bad moment with the key, I took off the screen of the window because I was scared to came back in the middle of the night and the keys were not working and also a key in the window in case something happened and she told me I can’t do that, it’s a major liability to the hotel and I will lose the room, also if someone enter the room.
I decided to left the hotel and I told her a week before, I was not going to stay next month, and the next day someone came asking me a what time she can clean the room, I told her I already pay the whole month and I’m going to stay till the last day.
If is an emergency, there is no one to help, and the way the owner talks to you, it’s not very helpful or kind.

If you are a minimalist and think that Motel 6 is too luxurious, then this is the place for you. It was clean and very bare bones. It had a bed and a few amenities like a sink, shower, and toilet. The toilet was very useful as there were no chairs in the room so it provided a place to sit. There were no curtains but a nice-looking set of horizontal blinds was provided but the spaces between the slats allowed light to come through.. The pillows were typical motel lumps but we always travel with our own pillows so we were not stuck using them. The lack of carpeting was tolerable but the 1/2 inch high divider between the sleeping area and the bathroom area was a dangerous nuisance as we both stumbled over it. I guess we're just clumsy.. We were disappointed with the room because the exterior looked so nice and inviting. The view, however, is wonderful. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. This time we were losers.

My husband and I head to Glenwood Springs every fall for a week's get-away. We have stayed at Hanging Lake Inn every year for at least the past 9 years. We love the "mom and pop" inn and supporting a locally owned business. We love that the inn is so "squeaky clean" and has parking right in front of your door. We take munchies, sandwich fixings and breakfast items with us, so the refrigerator, microwave and Keurig come in handy! The washer/dryer is great and we usually pack light since we wash clothes at least once during our stay. So, if you want a great stay in a super nice inn, Hanging Lake Inn is for you!

The room was clean, the bathroom had been nicely updated, and the bed was comfortable Very noisy outside due to the interstate but it was quiet inside the room. What made me give this 3 stars was that there wasn’t a mini fridge or microwave in the room. Looking back I see that the website didn’t mention these items in their list of amenities but I can’t even remember the last hotel I stayed in that didn’t provide these items.

The Hanging Lake Inn is a diamond off main street. We stay at this quaint location every time we head to Glenwood Springs to soak in the hot springs. This place doesn't offer breakfast, a gym or even a pool, but what it does offer is great customer service. The owners of this gem are gems themselves. I would recommend this quaint hotel to anyone that makes their way to Glenwood.

The room was clean and spacious. There is no carpeting which is great. The flooring consists of tile and vinyl wood laminate. The bed was comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. The fridge included a freezer so we could refreeze our ice packs. With the exception of large trucks early in the morning we did not hear the I-70 traffic from inside our room. Of course, when we sat on the Adirondack chairs outside of our room, we did hear traffic, but the views are beautiful and well worth enjoying outside.

They do not offer any services which means there is no breakfast. Not a problem for us because we went to the grocery store in town and picked up some food. There are plenty of restaurants nearby that serve breakfast. We did request additional coffee for our second day and the staff brought it to us very quickly. The rooms come with a Keurig.

This is a great, convenient location to spend time in the mountains and it is just a short drive to Aspen.

I didn't hear the traffic at all once the door was closed. I think sitting outside, you would probably be able to hear it but not that much.

Hi Scott, Unfortunately we do not accept pets here at the Hanging Lake Inn. No offense to your pets as we are pet lovers ourselves, but the best way I can explain it is all the bad people ruining it for the good people. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns.

We drove into town each evening and found ample parking each day. Lots of great little restaurants just over the bridge. Highly recommend the Italian Underground Restaurant in the basement of a building just to the right as you come into town over the bridge.
