My wife and I booked a room for my parents to spend a RARE night alone together. They worry about everyone else and never seem to do anything for themselves. Knowing this my wife decided to call the front desk before they arrived to ask if there was something simple we could do to surprise them when they checked into their room. A dessert, maybe a bottle of wine, a note perhaps, just something small to surprise the old couple. Suzy at the front desk answered our call. She was amazing. Without being asked she upgraded my parents to the Rosevelt Suite! She didn’t have to do this and it was an amazing gesture on her part. Suzy embodies true customer service in a world where that level of personal attention to guest experience is beyond rare. Thank you Susie and thank you Hotel Colorado for hiring such an amazing employee to represent your Hotel!

I booked this online. Fisrt thing is the online service show pictures of the hot springs located across the street. They make it seem like the hot springs are part of the hotel. We found out they are not. Also the online pictures look so grand. The actual the hotel looks like it needs a update. But it is a historic building. Like I noted, upon checkin we are told the hot springs across the street are not included. Then upon entering the room we noticed it was warm and stuffy. I looked for the a/c and discovered there is none. This needs to be noted in capital letters on the website. It is not and I didn't think to ask if the rooms came with a/c because most hotels do. I had the radiator turned off and the window open and the room was still warm and stuffy even though it was cool outside. I checked of coffee and toast on the overnight breakfast menu. The next morning a full omlet breakfast was delivered. I called room service and told them to take the order and to make sure I was billed for it. They told me I would not be billed for it. No one came so I left it outside our door. Our shower drain backed up so we had about 2-1/2" of water in the tub by the time we each finished our shower. The room picture showed two night stands with lamps. Our room had one because it was a ajoining room. With one lamp it was dark in the room. It had a ceiling fan and light. But that light was too bright so we opted for the dark room. The fan was also set on high and could not be adjusted. So again do we stay warm and stuffy. Or have a wind tunnel blow on us. On our 2nd night I ordered room service dinner. I was told 25 to 30 minutes. After one hour I called room service and the food was delivered about 1 hour and 15 minutes later. During checkout I saw the breakfast that I was told I would not be charged for was charged to my room. Ashley did her bsst and finally was able to deduct it. But still it was a pain because it took a long time for her to figure how to deduct because room service did the bill. This was our 10th wedding anniversary. So I understand the hotel is on the National Historic Register. But I expected it to be more updated. Parking was basically first come first serve. You can park on the main streets if its available. It was corwded so we parked up the hill. The warm stuffy room, glitch with the room service and overall experience was disappointing. We will not be going back.

Very interesting late 19th century experience, especially for historians. Beautiful architecture and location, with a lot of documented photos and a significant amount of President T. Roosevelt history. But be aware that rooms are sparsely furnished. We had two adjacent rooms that shared a bathroom which was fine since we were with family. However there was only a single chair in our room, but the lobby had plenty of seating. Radiator heat kept the rooms too warm at night, and the clanging of the pipes during the night wasn’t expected (or appreciated). The beds were rather uncomfortable as were the pillows, but then again it was a late 19th century experience, so in that regard, I had to remind myself to be thankful that I’m living (and vacationing) in the 21st century.
