Our family loved the views, the auto museum, the pool/cantina, & the beach cruisers to get around the property. We had issues with not getting the room we booked, critters in the room & in the bed, and the front desk not doing their best to resolve the issues. The restaurant staff & food at the Paradox Grille & pool side Cantina was good. I worked in luxury hotels for years and was picking up on issues with staffing & training. This is probably due to current staffing shortages. Hopefully this gets resolved in the near future as this resort has good potential if they can sort that out.
Just returned from a 4 night trip with my husband (our kids were at camp, so definitely earned some couple time). First, I will say, that I do understand others' reviews describing the hotel and grounds as "tired." There is a LOT to keep up, and I think the staff does the best they can. This hotel has been for sale for several years, and I'm sure the management company hasn't done everything they can to keep it up. That being said, we had two rooms (because we decided to stay an extra night) and they were both lovely. The first one was a suite with a hot tub (which was great but it was crazy hot outside so we prob would have used it more in cooler weather). There was some red dust from the surrounding landscape that had blown into it, but to be honest, I think this would be impossible to keep out. The second room was great too. All very clean, nice amenities. The pool has gorgeous views. There was a bar and restaurant open for lunch (shout out to Shawn, the bartender). The food at all three restaurants was really good! Great wine list at Entrada. I know people say they were expensive, but to us, these were typical Colorado prices. Colorado is EXPENSIVE all the time, but especially in the summer. The service and staff were all wonderful (another shout out to Emily and Angelica at the restaurants). We took UTV tour which was super fun. Gorgeous views from up there. All in all, lots of pool time, sunshine, and relaxation.…
Wonderful hotel. Gorgeous area. A heaven place ! Large and peaceful hotel. Many details to please the clients (Internet everywhere, trails in the nature, free bike renting, toys at the pool’…) . The only negative point is the limited and expensive restaurant menu. Would like to come back for sure !
We had paid a high price thinking this would be a great resort. Room was dirty and carpet was torn in 1st room. 2nd room better, but electricity was not working until after 10 pm. Front desk promised a large credit back but none was given. We left after one night. Only reason to go? The car museum was amazing.
It's expensive to eat there however, the staff was excellent, the room was very well maintained (we traveled with our two dogs), and the grounds/surrounding area are phenomenal. It was an expensive stay for just one night but to have that experience closer then making it to a Utah National Park was worth it
We loved our two days at the resort. You go here for the stunning canyon location. The views from our hikes were breathtaking. The staff were warm and friendly and the food excellent. The resort itself is somewhat tired, but nonetheless comfortable. A really unexpected ace was the world class automobile museum on site. A rare find, if you accept that the hotel itself could do with some TLC!
Lack of explination of the resort fees and all the available amenities that we did not take advantage of. For the price paid atleast breakfast should have been included not a credit. It was caught that I was about to be charged for 2 breakfast credits. We did not dine as were afraid of the prices. Broken pool, cold and no jets in one of the soaking hot tub, tons of litter by the pool. Staff hours not aligning with pool hours. In Pool Lights turned on in the pool at closing time, made no sence. The lighting of the entire complex needs to be looked at. Multiple areas with bird droppings on the walking path and not enough light to see it. Room was nice but way over priced over all. It was much better 10 years ago when it was smaller.
We are global travelers. We are happy to pay high resort fees and spend a considerable amount on vacation...provided we feel we received a good value for our money. This resort fell short. The pool by our Kiva room was not working the entire 4 days, the sidewalks are crumbling, and the landscape needs lots of weeding and trimming. We saw one person working on the landscape, but they needed several crews to do the job. Some grass was dead and other areas were desperate need of mowing. One of the sofas at the other pool area had a big tear in the cushion. We never ate at the expensive restaurant, but the other two were overpriced bar food and drinks. Everyone we talked to mentioned the resort was understaffed. We greatly enjoyed the Car museum and UTV tour with Mike. Our massages were wonderful, although the steam room was out of order in both the men's and women's side. Our room was quite comfortable. Note: they provided a $100 credit for not having the pool by our room available, but we still spent close to $3000 for this mediocre vacation. We left thinking this place COULD be so nice, but we spent a lot of money and we can't recommend it. It is really a shame.…
My husband and I love gateway for it's beauty and only wish the resort was as beautiful. We had for the most part great service at both restaurants, however we watched one waitress(thankfully not ours) pick something out of her teeth with her finger and then proceed to pick up a drink with the same finger literally inside the glass. The manager was also not very friendly and not dressed appropriately for her position. We chose not to use the hot tub in our room because it was not very clean. The main pool area was not any better. Tons of dirt and debris in the pool and the overall cleanliness of the pool area needed a lot of attention as well as the grounds in general. We feel like we paid a premium price for the two days that we spent at the resort, but sadly left disappointed in our experience.…
The resort has an excellent desert ambiance! From the first few minutes upon checking in, I knew we made the right choice. The property is very well maintained and clean. The rooms are fantastic. Every resort staff member we interacted with was very friendly, approachable and professional. Make it a point to experience the Gateway Auto Museam! Our dining experience was fantastic! The Gateway Canyons Resort is a total resort experience, although a little pricier than I would have expected, but still a very, very pleasant anniversary experience.
