This is the second time we have stayed here Staff is great and accommodations are as well I am handicapped and access to rooms and common areas are good but there are some stairs required We look forward to our next visit
We always stay at the Solarium when we travel to Fort Collins. This time we brought out bikes and rode downtown for dinner and a show (they rent bikes at the front desk, too). This was a brilliant, traffic-free experience.
If you're looking for a truly unique lodging experience (as opposed to the standard hotel), this is it! I traveled to Fort Collins for a business trip to attend an environmental journalism conference, and although I could have stayed at a regular hotel, I'm glad I chose this alternative. The vibe is very hipster/zen/ecological, which resonated with me as a Millennial environmental journalist and activist. Overall my stay was super comfortable, which is probably most important to consider when booking a hotel or hostel. The room I stayed in initially (Coral) even has a hammock in the room! The botanical atrium/courtyard has spaces to lounge as well, and there are hammocks outside along with two tipis. Bike rentals are available, and apparently there is someone who can teach a yoga class early (7am) on weekend mornings, but that requires advance registration (of which I was unaware). The breakfast is simple but good, basically waffles or oatmeal (and coffee). One thing to be aware - the pictures/descriptions of the rooms from the Solarium website are outdated and not entirely accurate, like some rooms say there is a TV but there's only one TV for the whole place in one of the common rooms. Also, one thing I wish I'd known is that shampoo/conditioner is not provided for even private rooms, only a small bar of soap is. If I had to make one suggestion for improvement, that would be it. Considering the rate of some of private rooms are comparable to some standard hotels, it seems not unreasonable to expect similar basic amenities like shampoo, especially for rooms that have private baths. But that aside, it's a pretty cool place to stay.…
My husband and I just spent 12 days at the Solarium to be close to our kids The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a suite and private room with private bath. Both were decorated with a different theme in mind The atrium in the center of the Solarium adds to the uniqueness of the property Strongly recommend
It is very cool! The hostel is really nice and I enjoyed the garden inside the property. The place has a greenhouse with surround sound music to give you a zen cool experience. The staff was very helpful and fun! It is a really cool and unique place.
