My second time here I was greeted by the staff by my first name before I even got in the door!! loved the customer service and the hospitality! I booked the same room and it had that "second home" feeling that is always nice. The people are friendly, the travelers are exciting and the rooms are clean! This is my...

pentlands backpacker is a great little hostel, homestyle, quite, clean with great facilities and in a great location. The kitchen is large, the bathrooms are clean and very private, you get your own room with a toilet, shower and sink - no sharing a room with other people while you shower! The only thing is there are not a lot...

Pentlands Backpackers Hostel is about having a good time in a place we like to call home away from home. We work very hard to ensure that everyone enjoys their stay at our hostel but sometimes it seems it is impossible to make everyone happy doesn't matter how hard we try. We have more than 10 000 visitors every year...

Good quiet location just 400m to supermarkets and 2 main roads with shops and restaurants. Outerlink bus at the end of the road and other buses to city 2 blocks away. Stayed in a 4 bed dorm in probably the tiniest room in the hostel. Not enough space for bags etc and little storage. The place was cleaned regularly to...

It is sad that the comments written here are incorrect. Firstly the hostel in not going to be closed in june or 60 days. The fridegs are brand new. There is security cameras in the ktichen and around the hostel so guests are vey aware that they will be caught if any food is stolen. Happy travelling.

Stayed here for 3 nights, found that everything was pretty much perfect! The fridges are jammed full but you will find space eventually. The tv area is also always packed.. But can't help that! The location is perfect, having mt Eden right there was amazing.. The walk up the top is a must!! Incredible views. Made my trip! And a...

The Manager was a bit weird but the receptionist was really nice. The hostel is very clean. Kitchen is alright but the fridges are VERY full. No coffee/tea/salt/pepper/oil whatsoever... There is no place to hang out and talk with others travellers after 10pm as you're kicked out of the kitchen for cleaning : people are watching tv in the lounge...

If you are looking to stay out if the city but close enough to it on a budget, this is for you! The stairs at the entrance might be a bit rough for those with heavy bags, but you'll survive or more than likely another guest will help you if they see you! The receptionist was very polite and down...

I stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed the surroundings. The staff were very helpful, friendly and kept the place spotless. Despite the place being fully booked for most of my stay, It never felt overcrowded. I have deducted a point off of my rating to reflect the absence of hammocks from the garden. As I spent most of my time...

I lived at Pentlands two months while looking for a job. Vinnie and the rest of the staff are friendly. As with most long term hostels, the group of people there really make the atmosphere. Despite being quite big and usually packed, it has a nice friendly feel to it. It stays exceptionally clean and has a great kitchen. I...

This was a chilled out hostel. It was packed, but everything was pretty tidy, surprisingly. The first night, there were a few drunk residents because it was the weekend and normally, you're going to get this. Other than that, everyone was very helpful and open, from the backpackers to the staff like Vinnie. Cool dude.

Stayed at Pentlands for 2 night with my daughter after a long journey from Seoul. We have stayed here a few times before but our recent stay will be our last. Unlike our last stays we were not greeted by a friendly and welcoming receptionist. My daughter became ill the next day and needed to be taken to the urgent...

We are sorry to read that such a thing happend. She was a trainee manager and after looking into her performance we decided this was not the position for her. She does not work for this hostel any more. We are glad to say that we now have very friendly, helpful managers at Pentlands Backpackers Hostel. Happy travelling, cheers.
