Amazing place for a hike. You can't swim at the lake, but you can bring your kayak or a floating boat like we did! There are some cabins and I saw some camping tents too. Lots of picnic tables around. Watch your step for the hundreds of holes on the ground. They are the houses of cute little ground squirrels.... More

Spent two nights here last week. Didn't really know what to expect, just found it online and decided to go. Not too far from Denver, which was nice. It's half forest, part Jurassic park. Tons of aspens, lots of foresty trees. Not too many trees in the actual campground though, which doesn't make for too much privacy, but we didn't... More

Friendly staff at visitors center, plenty of picnic tables for day use, and a wide range of campsites. Take bug spray if walking around lake or fishing. Roads were maintained but I'd be hesitant to take a car beyond Sylvan Lake. Couldn't get beyond Basalt today because of large snow drift, but it was incredible scenery. $7 for day use... More

We've stayed in Sylvan Lake twice, the first time in a tent site, the second in cabin #8--which we loved, and highly recommend. It's private, comfortable, and right by an aspen covered hillside. And it has access to the Sneeve Gulch hiking trail, which we found to be a short and relatively easy climb on a packed dirt trail to... More

We spent an afternoon here. The visitor center is very nice and the staff are knowledge le and helpful. The lake is nice, as is the walking trail around it. There's really no shade, and at this high altitude, the sun can be scorching, so either bring your own shade, or plenty of sunscreen and water.

First, my rating is based on my actual experience at Sylvan Lake. If I would visit again, I would probably have a more pleasant experience. So I'll try to give you information that will make your experience more than average because I do believe Sylvan Lake has potential. Campsites: There are four different experiences available. 1. "Fisherman's Paradise" - I... More

Fairly easy to get to (about 25 minutes from I70), there is a dirt road for the last 5 miles so keep that in mind. Beautiful location - the lake is pretty and there are groomed trails around the lake and near the campground. We just went for the afternoon, brought a picnic lunch (there are several picnic benches) and... More

The campground is very clean and quite. The campsites are well spaced out so that you are not over hearing your neighbors conversations. The toilets are very well maintained as well. The campground is right next to the lake which itself is beautiful. The campground is almost 15 miles (including almost 5 miles of unpaved road) from the closest convenient... More

This was a great place to stay for quiet and beauty. There's a five mile diet road to get back there but the whole ride is beautiful and will get you in the mood. While they don't have rv hookups they do have water spigots to get water at and there is a dump station. Generators can be used from... More

We enjoyed an easy hike around the lake, it was a good beginning to our hiking adventures. We tried to complete the pass above the lake but it was still closed due to weather. Once we hiked it I got my mountain bike and repeated the trail on that. Although not challenging it was nice to get my feet wet.
