The rooms are a little bit little and the shower a little trickle but I would not have rather been anywhere else. The staff was very accommodating, the room was cozy and quaint. The atmosphere fabulous. I would have liked to have had a few more breakfast choices as the same foods were served at the buffet every day.

The whole place looks fine. However the bar gets packed with people eager to see the gun fight which to be truthful is complete rubbish. We dined in the middle priced restaurant in the hotel. The food was the saltiest I have tasted anywhere in the US. The restaurant was so badly lit that we could not see our food. A...

On a recent trip through Southwestern Colorado, we spent two nights in the Strater Hotel in Durango. When you walk into the lobby you immediately get that "old West" feel as evidenced by period furnishings, and a lovely wood reception desk. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We arrived two hours before check-in, and our room was ready. We...

Can't say enough of what a wonderful and beautiful historic hotel that is the Strater. Enjoy a drink in the Diamond Belle. Save up your money, but it's worth it, and dine in the Mahogany Grill. Wander around the hotel and take in the historical sites. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling. Also, the Strater is in a...

Made a booking for this hotel. Didn't expect much. Rooms were clean and were bathrooms. Booked a pet friendly room. Understand these rooms are in separate wing. Only bad thing bad about taking your pet, is that you have to walk four blocks to find anything looking like a spot to relieve you dog. Would have been nice to take...

A beautiful historic hotel. Many of the furnishings look period. Just beautiful. Make sure you have a drink in the Diamond Belle Saloon and at least take a look at the Office Restaurant, is lovely. They keep a diary in each room. It was fun to see the notes of past guests and to leave a note. One thing to...

wanted to be in the middle of old town and thought we would give the Strater a try. We love old heritage buildings. The staff were very friendly, our room was lovely, clean and quiet. We needed somewhere close to get away for our tenth anniversary. Although we visit Durango regularly we have never stayed over. Having walked through the Strater a number of times we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. The room was beautifully decorated (historically correct wallpaper) and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. Little details like...

This is an old -- but well-kept -- and charming hotel in the heart of Durango's historic district, so you can park your car in the hotel's free (outdoor) parking and walk almost everywhere in the downtown area. The guest rooms are large and nicely decorated with antiques and other Victorian touches like elaborate wall coverings and pretty lamps. Many...

During our stay in Durango we came to the Strater Hotel Restaurant twice. It's such a fun pleasant atmosphere. The food is fine and there is a wide selection of drinks, but the point of coming here is the speak-easy atmosphere. The waitresses are dressed to match, in corset/dresses, and there was music. On the first occasion an group played...
