Strater Hotel did not disappoint! It was very clean and quaint. I absolutely loved the decor which stays true to its history. Parking is FREE but you have to check into the hotel first to get the free pass. For the weary traveler it's nice to have the 2 restaurants and a bar located inside the hotel. We had dinner... More

We absolutely love visiting Durango and decided this time to stay at the Strater Hotel.. It is in a great location in the middle of the downtown district.. The staff was very friendly and helpful.. The place is full of history which we really liked.. We only used their restuarant for breakfast and had the buffet both mornings,, We would... More

The Strater is a 130 year hotel situated in the middle of the old town of Durango. If you are planning a road trip which includes this city, you should not consider staying anywhere else. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance and there is free parking on the lots to the rear. The Strater is a grand... More

This was one hotel that deserves it's rating. Well worth the stay and visit! This historic hotel, located in Downtown Durango, is not only accessible to the shopping, restaurants and breweries of Main Avenue, but I felt welcomed on arrival. The bed definintely was not one from the Old West days, so don't worry about a bad sleep! It was... More

We always like to stay at historic hotels. We were not disappointed by staying here. We have a small dog and find it difficult to find historic hotels that take pets. They do at a very reasonable fee. The accomodations are very appropriate. The restaurant and lobby look mostly restored. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of off... More

I can't say enough about how great this hotel, and accompanying restaurants, are. It is an old Hotel and when the fan in the heating system went out, they immediately moved me to another room. The staff was friendly and helpful and the small restaurant next door (that opens at 4 pm), had a great list of appetizers and entries... More

This place is a bit hard to review. It is in-keeping with the furniture and period of the old west, but it is also a bit outdated. Biggest disappointment is with the bathroom which was small and looks as if it wasn't updated in at least a decade. Stayed only one night and chose not to shower here. Now, if... More

Built in the 1800's this is a historic hotel in the mountain resort town of Durango. It is furnished with antique furniture throughout. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurants are reasonably priced and the food is good. Double occupancy in April will run about $130 a night. The Durango/Silverton narrow gauge railroad is couple hundred yards away. This... Booked this hotel becuase the Trip Advisor reviews were so good and wasn't disappointed. Staff were friendly. Hotel was clean and remarkably well maintained for an old Victorian building. We stayed on the second floor in what appeared to be a addition to the original hotel (not sure if it actually is or just appeared that way). Room was clean... More
