Stayed here 2 nights. Picked it because of the good reviews and loved the location. The rooms were nice. Only complaint is trying to take a hot shower is challenging. We went on the train one morning and that was very handy to get to. Don't think you can sleep in, though. Those trains are a good alarm clock. Lol...

The property is great, old style, centrally located, with good rooms. They were quite busy when we were there, which is probably why there was a few minor problems at breakfast, on checkout, and with the service. We would be glad to stay there again, though.

Anyone who takes the effort to say anything bad about the Strater is a “Glass Half-Empty” personality type. The Strater’s Old West Ambience is truly unique and lovely. We stayed for one night in the Gerry Ford room (333) and we were very impressed. It’s a King room and very quiet and comfortable. Dinner in the “Mahogany Grill” restaurant is...

Very pleased with our choice of hotel and our choice of room. My husband and I were on a 3 night visit to Durango, Colorado, to take a trip on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway - see www.durangotrain.com - and the Strater Hotel was ideally located, within walking distance of Durango Railway Station. Our room was number 422,...

This is our second stay here. It is truly "a little slice" of the old West. The rooms are up to date and very comfortable. The saloon is a fun place to have lunch and a drink. The restaurant has great food and really below average service. Stay here, eat in one of the many fine restaurants in Durango.

Our group of two grandparents, a parent, a 9 year old and a 7 year old loved the historic feel of the hotel. The staff was very gracious and the rooms were period. The location on Main Ave. was great for the historic downtown area. We highly recommend this property!

Decor & history presentation well done. Wait staff has a poor attitude, no hustle which must reflect the attitude of senior management. The breakfast buffet was unprepared for the tour group in the hotel and ran out of food. Bed was hard, pillows were wretched. No way worth the price!

We stayed just for one night and really enjoyed the history the hotel offered. The beds were very comfortable, but our room was a bit stuffy and warm. The location was perfect for walking around and boarding the train to Silverton. We enjoyed the breakfast that was included in our package!

We stayed at the Strater Hotel for the 4th. For a historic hotel I found it to be just okay. The doors to the room and bathroom were not that great, they stuck like crazy. You had to really pull to get them to open and close. Plus, they weren't historic. The room size was decent but our bed was...

Strater Hotel is very clean with comfortable beds, the beds were advertised as queens but seemed a little small. The employees were very courteous and helpful.Nothing but the best.
