We are in our mid sixties, from Florida and travel extensively. We stay in all price range of hotels. We have stayed at the Strater before. The hotel is always in top shape with nice linens and beautiful antiques. If you like historic hotels this is for you. The bathrooms are small, but that is to be expected. The staff...

Been to the Strater on several occasions as a guest and now as a local resident. If you visit Durango and need superior historic lodging do consider the Strater. The furnishings, environment, staff, food and especially the nightly music are not to be missed.

So nice, the rooms are great with amazing woodwork and each room has the name of a person on the door and inside the room a history of that person. (too cool) The lobby and both bars are fantastic. (we received 2 free drink coupons upon check in for the Diamond Belle Saloon that was nice) The hotel is in...

My husband and I came to town for a work conference and stayed at the Strater. I loved the old west feel in the bars downstairs, as well as in the room. Our breakfast buffet was included with the room, which was very delicious, especially the green chile eggs. The staff was super friendly and helpful with suggestions of what...

We stayed two nights at this historic hotel, and while the room was on the smaller side, it was definitely not lacking in historical charm. It's right in the center of town making it a great location to easily walk to restaurants and shops. It is great for a night or two, and has a complimentary breakfast.

Stayed two nights Aug 16-17. Lovely old Victorian with characteristic furnishings & finishing details of the period. Our room was small but nice; however, no coffee maker/coffee in room was a disappointment, considering the price per night. Also only one wastebasket?

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Durango. Rooms were decorated in beautiful antiques. We stayed in room 108 which we highly recommend. Two huge queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The private Jacuzzi room was great too. We enjoyed dining in the Diamond Bell Saloon and in the Mahogany Grill. The staff was so kind and welcoming. We loved...

Did not stay at the hotel but enjoyed walking through the lobby, reading about the hotel history and eating in the restaurant. The restaurant/saloon has such ambiance due to the decor typical of the 1800's and the waitress dressed in attire from that time period. Food is pricey but delicious. Wish we could have been there in the evening for...

The room was only ok. There was no way to block the light out of the room at night.. Paper thin pleat shades..and could not close the stationary drapes..made for a miserable night. There are better hotels on Durango. Don't waist your money on this place!
