While other tourists were paying high dollar for motels we secured the perfect "homey atmosphere" of the Caboose that's family owned & run. It's not fancy, but all we wanted was a place to lay our weary bodies & get a good nite's sleep before boarding the train in the a.m. to Silverton. It's quiet, clean with a great shower... More

We stayed at the Caboose for one night only. It is an older motel but it is clean, quiet and the folks who run it were very friendly and accommodating. It is in a decent location, not right in downtown Durango but kind of on the outskirts. I wouldn't necessarily stay here for a week, but if you're looking to... More

Left Florida five days ago on a cross country motorcycle trip. Booked this hotel room, intentionally disregarding chain hotels in the area. Clean, comfortable and quaint. Outdated as some would say? Booya on you!!! This place is true Americana. Maureen checked my brother and I in and made us feel extremely welcome. I'll stay here again and again.

If you want a plain place to stay, nothing fancy, just nice people, comfy bed, vintage individual furnishings, little kitchenette-at least in our room, good suggestions about best places to eat, etc. this place is for you. No pool or other bells and whistles, but just right for us. The hosts are super!

I love staying at Mom and Pop motels. The Caboose is one of those family places. Room was quite clean, although I prefer a bag in the ice bucket. It was a kitchenette and I wasn't aware. Still quite roomy. Wish the bed had been more comfortable but then at my age that's becoming more difficult. All in all, I... More

This motel needs a little improvement. A few issues: The rooms all state non-smoking; however, during my stay, several individuals (six) sat outside their rooms and "mine" smoking up a storm. It was not only nasty but intrusive as they sat in the parking areas. Management lives on-site so they could have easily remedied the situation. Secondly, the rooms need... More

Rooms were very small and dated. Bathroom had no counter space and was cramped. Beds were not that comfortable. The windows had to be propped open with a stick if you wanted them open and not use the air conditioner. Manager/owner was not very friendly and almost rude. Definitely would not stay here again.

Last minute booking on a Saturday night in peak Colorado travel season...at $130, this was expensive, but it was at least $75 LESS than anything else in town, including chain hotels with much lower ratings. This is a clean, cozy, family owned motel on the highway heading north out of town. No frills, no problems, comfortable beds, plenty of hot... More

I needed something that was moderately priced but wasn't too sketchy. This fit the bill. The motel is family owned, and the people are so nice! The location is great. It's right off Main Ave/550. There are two coffee shops (Durango Joe's and 81301) walking distance and a couple of places to go eat (Yellow Carrot and Serious Texas BBQ).... More

Apparently the old managers were let go, and new management is now in place. Very nice young man checked us in, and was most accommodating. The rooms had been updated, and the windows repaired. Back to a nice little Motor Inn.
