We chose this campground due to several YouTube RV couples' recommendations. Stated well maintained, quiet, peaceful, beautiful views. I understand that COVID 19 has changed many aspects of the campground: no dog park, no pool, no bathrooms. None of which was a factor. It was contactless check-in, which is not a factor. There was no weed eating, overall park pride. Sprinklers were going continuous. The overall appearance of the park said it was not well kept. They charged $20/kid. My children were 12 and 13, never once enjoyed any amenities and uncertain why they were extra. If you are looking for some park that is away from the city, it is a nice place. Nothing extra, but the price of extras. No wifi, no cell service, no bathroom, no pool, no dog park, childrens park closed.…
There is no WIFI and no TV service at the campsite which is a factor. The park is in a beautiful location but had not been maintained very well. We stayed here during the COVID-19 pandemic and we never saw the owner/manager in the 3 days we were there. Lots of people with large, unleashed dogs and lots of kids which can be an issue since the spaces are so narrow. We were right on top of the people next to us and their sewer connection was right out our door. One last thing, the spaces are rock and it was difficult to level our trailer due to the space not being level. There are other RV parks in the area that are superior to this one.
Stayed at Lightner for three days. Check in was easy as it was contactless and done before we arrived. The campground is about 2 or 3 miles from town and easy to get to. There are a few twists and turns on Lightner creek road to the campground. The campground itself is shaded with asphalt parking pads. The pads are not very level so have plenty of leveling blocks. At the time of our stay the popool bathrooms pet area and playground were closed due to covid precautions. Overall we would stay again
Lightner Creek is located about 3 miles off of Highway 160, west of Durango, CO. There is a mountain ridge separating the campground from the main road, so it is quiet, except for the creek, which runs through the campground. Well kept with friendly staff. Great place to spend some quiet time!
Very friendly owners. Close to Durango is the big plus. We had a site on middle road through park. It was not paved and became muddy with snow and rain. Pull through site was only partially paved and not enough gravel surfacing so we tracked a lot of mud into RV. Site needs improvement through more gravel placement at minimum. Bathrooms we're very clean and plenty of hot water, however they are not heated...not great with temperature in the 30s. Showers are made for someone about 5.5 feet tall. Watch your head on shower entry. WiFi was pretty much non-existent. Somehow we had cell phone coverage in the stream valley.
