Most of the room have been redone and they are beautiful. We looked at many of the room while we were there and found them all different with there own charm. The receptionist was great, very helpful. location is probably the best you can get in Durango, and there was no issue with parking. Great place to stay.

Dear "Frank T" Thank you for your review of our hotel, I agree with you the location couldn't be more perfect! Being downtown in the Historical District is a real plus. No need for a car when you can walk to everything or take the fun little trolley. Thank you, again, Paula

We are all the way back home in Australia now but still remembering the lovely General Palmer hotel. It really is the only place to stay if you want a taste of old style, elegant hotels. We really enjoyed it, especially the friendly staff, the great location, the train next door and the cookies! The bed and room were great,...

We really enjoyed our stay at the General Palmer Hotel. It is located in the heart of Durango, just seconds (literally) from shopping, cafes, entertainment and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast really hit the spot. Our room was very nice - in the Paradise Building. The room was very clean and the bathroom was lovely....

This a a very nice, small historic hotel in the heart of Durango downtown. Most o fthe furnishings are antique replicas, but the look and feel is old west elegance. Only drawback is the tiny elevator. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast is included, and it is very satisfying and easy in aa cozy breakfast room. Staff is very courteous...

Stayed two nights here before and after riding the train. Beautiful old lobby, but our room was in the outbuilding by their restaurant, which was a perk for us because it was very quiet and even more convenient to the train station, as in a 50 yard walk! One small downside was that the wifi was a little weak and...

This historic property has been well maintained with lots of period furnishings throughout the hotel and restaurant which gives you a feeling of what it must have been like to stay at such a hotel back in the old days. The front desk manager was pleasant and helpful when asked questions about the town and restaurants. Although the hotel is...

The furnishings throughout the lobby were wonderful. Great location near the train depot, shopping and places to eat. My wife and I stayed in their outer building. If you book this hotel and are disabled or have a problem with stairs this may not be the building for you. The breakfast was good and hot and enjoyable.
