The Gable House was a perfect weekend getaway! Heather, our host, makes the most delicious breakfasts and she's has a wealth of information on the area. The house itself is a gracious old Victorian, lovingly restored and spacious. One quick note, if you're a larger/taller individual, perhaps the claw-footed tubs are best avoided as very tall husband didn't quite fit in the shower extension, but the other rooms have modern bathrooms, so there's a room for everyone. Me, I LOVED the old tub and had a wonderful soak. The location can not be beat - three or four blocks from the main street in Durango with all the wonderful restaurants and shops. I cannot recommend The Gable House more highly and look forward to returning.

Property's Favorite Review
Gary and I so enjoyed our visit to Durango, and our stay at the Gable House. Our Host, Heather, is so very friendly and generous, and goes out of her way to create a stay that you certainly will certainly remember. We had a lovely room that also had a lovely balcony. Gary and I enjoyed spending time on the balcony one afternoon after we'd had an especially busy morning. The colorful trees and the quite of the neighborhood just added to this peaceful afternoon. Town is so very close, just minutes away, and an easy walk. Heather provided us with a flashlight for our nightly walks down to various restaurants for dinner during our stay. The breakfasts that Heather provided were so very good, and gave us such a nice start to our days. Heather, we'll miss seeing your smiling face in the morning now that we're home! We so enjoyed our stay. Regards, Pam and Gary Anderson

Gorgeous huge house and a lovely host made for a wonderful stay. Plenty of room to distance and we were the only couple at the breakfast table both mornings. Great location and easy walking distance to Main Street. PS the breakfast was delicious and included fresh fruit from the pear tree in the yard.

We stayed in Gable House for an enjoyable and extremely comfortable 3 nights. I am usually hesitant to stay in older historic homes, as they tend to be stuffy, dusty, dark and just old. Heather, the owner, has carefully restored Gable House over many years creating an interior that is very nice, clean and airy with light wood floors and trim, and an esoteric collection of pictures and art objects scattered throughout the house. In this age of covid, I wanted and got a very clean house with excellent covid procedures. Our room on the 3rd floor was spacious and very clean with a very comfortable king bed and an excellent set of sheets and pillows. The en-suite had a claw foot tub in which I enjoyed a good soak and a shower portion that also worked surprisingly well. The tasty breakfast served at a time of our convenience, included a course of yogurt, fruit and granola, and was followed by a cooked egg or pancake course which lasted us well into the afternoon. The outside soft, green grass grounds had several small areas of seating where we were happy to read books or even eat our take out pizza. Heather was an excellent conversationist and was very cognizant of whether or not we were in a talkative mood. Her recommendations for what to do or where to eat in Durango were spot on. You are so close to everything in this centrally located mansion. Don’t be afraid to stay in an old house! You won’t regret staying in this Queen Anne gem.

Charming hostess who tended to our every need. Exquisite Victorian mansion that has been impeccable cared for. The king bed was very comfortable and our private bath was perfect for a morning soak. Beautiful landscaping surrounds the home including two producing fruit trees. Our breakfast was delicious and included fresh hand-cut fruit and scratch-made blueberry pancakes. Location was perfect - just a short walk to historic Main Avenue where we found multiple dining and shopping options. Highly recommended. When in Durango next we will definitely be ready for a return visit to Gable House Bed and Breakfast.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. The pears are still on and the frost was on the pumpkin so the red delicious apples should be ready soon. Thanks again, Heather
