On the river and in the woods...just the way we like it. Stoney River Lodge is located less than 20 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park and is a great alternative to "in town" lodging. We offer a variety of accommodations at an affordable price. The feeling is family and friends (think campground) and the attitude is left behind. Hike our secluded trails, fish for trout right outside your door, play horseshoes or volleyball. Or just kick back and enjoy the serenity of the Big Thompson Canyon. Smoking outdoors is okay. We offer 420 areas. Dog friendly units available. FREE WI-FI. Some units with fireplaces.

What an awesome, clean, well decorated and dog friendly place on the Big Thompson. So many outside activities for all ages, clean, cute and cozy accommodations plus the nicest staff. This is a must place to stay summer, winter or fall. A hidden gem between Loveland and Estes Park.

My wife and I stayed in the Wolf cabin for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. The owner was very friendly and was quick to respond anytime we needed anything. Would definitely consider staying here again. Situated about halfway between Loveland and Estes Park, so it was very convenient to go to either place.

This was our fifth stay here, always in the Wolf cabin. The sound of the river at night is very relaxing and we always sleep well. Wolf sleeps four, but it has always been just the two of us and sometimes our Husky as well. Very comfortable with or without the dog. We have been here in May, July, & September and loved it each time. Bordering the Big Thompson river & highway 34 makes it both relaxing, and easily accessible to Estes Park, RMNP, Loveland and many of the local attractions. Campfires are across the driveway on the river for just relaxing and watching the water flow by, fishing, or waving at the jealous travelers go by on the highway. SRL is under new ownership, but Lori, Josh,& Sandi are very friendly and were very accommodating. The Lodge and Cabin have fresh paint, new 32" "Smart" TV's, new kitchen silver ware, much improved internet speed with more improvements on the way. Don't worry, the they are maintaining the same rustic charm that drew us there the first time.

Loved this place. GREAT location. Much quieter and less expensive than staying in Estes Park. Located about 14 miles from Estes, right between Estes Park and downtown Loveland. Drive from Estes to this lodge is beautiful.... less than a 30 minute drive to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The views from this lodge are amazing.. overlooking the Rockies (across the street), and right on the St. Thompson River. We had a campfire on the river a few days.. absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the Eagle Room- very small, but there is only 2 of us so worked fine. There is a mini -fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in the room. If you want a campfire bring your own wood, or buy a bundle at the Safeway Market in town. Place is older, but clean. Would stay here again.

We actually stayed in 2 different rooms the Eagle and the Cowboy. The Eagle is small but well set up with a micro and fridge but the TV didn't get many channels and the wifi didn't work real well in that room. It kept kicking me out. The Cowboy room is a bit bigger, the TV had more channels, the wifi worked a little better but they had a electric stove instead of a microwave. I prerfered the microwave. My husband enjoyed sitting by the river at night. Even though is is an extra 20 minutes from Estes Park it is a beautiful drive through the Roosevelt National Forest. They were building a new park close by that was suppose to open this fall that looks nice if you have a dog like we did. Otherwise they have a back trail that goes up to Round Mountain where dogs are allowed.
